A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

WE were in Melbourne on a Friday night with a sellout game at Marvel Football arena. This made that end of town busy and bustling. We enjoyed a meal in China town, travelled the free tram and parked in the SOuthern Cross DFO carpark for convience- just a block down from hotel. Ate brekky there next morning in nice eatery.
DFO shops open at 10am or head into CBD via free tram.

I loved the free trams to take you all around the city centre. Where we stayed in Southbank was so close to everything, 5 min walk to supermarkets, train, trams, attractions, restaurants etc. I also loved all the old architecture in Melbourne. The city has preserved the past for the future generations to see.

I was there to visit friends and relatives and have been to Melbourne many times so I have no tourist tips. I did enjoy a visit and lunch at Poyntons Garden Nursery in Essenden. I believe it covers 3-1/2acres.
Great location - more relaxed than the CBD but close enough to it to catch public transport there. On-site car parking for a reasonable fee. Pleased that we didn’t have to use our car for the duration of our stay.
The beds were comfortable which is always a win!
The buffet breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was great and they also offer dinner and room service at standard meal prices. The food smelt amazing!
Very short walk to The Albion Hotel where we had a very nice dinner.
The staff were friendly and accommodating.
It is just 2 mins away from tram no. 109 and 48. Bus station is nearby too. It takes about 20-30min. to Melbourne city (CBD), not heavy traffic over there. I chose it because it is 20min. away from Swinburne Uni, near to my daily destination. Two rows of shops with cafe, restaurant (Penang food), laundry shop with dryer, My Chemists (toiletries and beauty items), Woolworth and Leo's Market 3 mins. walk for groceries.
A spcious studion room with basic kitchenete. The only staff is friendly and nice.
Great location and friendly staff. Everything you need in a room, nice bed, quiet, warm, a nice little kitchenette with cups, plates bowls, cutlery. Bathroom had a big bath! That’s always a plus for us. Parking right next to hotel, $35 a night, quite reasonable for a capital city. Easy to drive to hotel as it’s at located at east edge of cbd, moments walk to trams, trains, parks, theatres. A woolies metro supermarket around the corner. A free coffee machine (and tea) in the lobby.
Amazing apartment hotel in Melbourne CBD. Fully furnished with in-unit washer & dryer, very nice furniture/kitchen fixtures. We used the kitchen to cook our own meals each night and it had everything we needed! Really felt high quality and made it a wonderful stay. There was a fitness center in the building with a large pool (indoor) as well. Super convenient to get to/from the airport, just a short walk to the sky bus terminal
Great location for walking in all directions around Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Vic Markets and Southern Cross Station. Very clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the attached apartments building rather than the hotel so it was a bit more like an air b'n'b experience. The apartment was small but felt spacious, it was clean and comfortable for four adults.
Terrific location on Little Bourke. Close to everything - the Mall, cafes, restaurants, transportation. A well presented apartment right in the heart of town. The room was ready as soon as we got there and we were happily granted a late checkout with our Accor membership. They looked after our bags for us for a few hours and provided a great base to explore Melbourne CBD
The Rendezvous Hotel in Flinders St Melbourne was a great find for our stay to go and see The fabulous show Moulin Rouge at The Regent in Melbourne. We had a comfy bed. Loved the breakfast provided. Very friendly staff. The location was great . Within walking distance to the Regent and restaurants over at Southbank. A lovely old style Att Nouvaux hotel.
Bed and pillows were really comfortable and the King room had a terrific city view as well as feeling very spacious. The cafe downstairs served the best coffee of my Melbourne trip. The city circle tram was only a few metres away so handy to explore the cbd. Southern Cross station's Skybus stop is a 10min walk so coming from the airport is easy.
The Hotel is very convenient located, very close to Uni Melbourne and in the edges of CBD, right next to Victoria Market. Reception open 24/7 is convenient and so is the possibility to leave your luggage before/after checking in/out. Rooms are comfortable and sheets are nice. Totally a plus the bonus of City Baths.
Lovely clean and comfortable boutique hotel. Close to shops, transport, CBD, and undercover parking is also available.
I experienced friendly, helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere. I will stay again if coming into Melbourne.
I would recommend the Miami to anyone wanting accommodation close to town.
This place was amazing - great view from the city view room. Reception was open most of the time. We liked that it wasn't in the heart of the CBD as we enjoyed the walk around Southbank and discovering some of the eateries and cafes. Would definitely come back here for a special trip in Melbourne.
For the price, this was a good room. The beds were pretty comfy and the overall cleanliness of the room was nice. The best thing about this hotel was the location and price. So, if you're not too precious about comfort, this is a great spot to get around Melbourne CBD and surrounds.
The host was very responsive, helpful and polite. The apartment was neat, tidy and had all the expected facilities and amenities. It's located in a nice area not far from public transport and serves as a great starting point for families looking to explore Melbourne's CBD.
Location was good, it was in the city CBD on the side, you could still walk and catch a tram if you wanted or drive. The apartments are like brand new. The gym and pool and spa were awesome, my kids loved the heated pool and spa and the pool was so big.
The property is located at Melbourne CBD. Everything is near. Melbourne Central, restaurants, there’s a nearby supermarket like 2 mins away the apartment. The city views in the morning and night adds up to the beauty of this pretty new property.
Beautiful apartment hotel, conveniently located next to DFO South Wharf and a quick stroll to the CBD and Southbank. The rooms were perfectly clean and we had great views of the city, with attentive and friendly staff. We'll definitely be back!
Situated perfectly in close proximity to Melbourne CBD. This newly built Hotel really does accommodate. Very modern with chic furnishings. The buffet breakfast with the city views is a must.
Very clean and modern hotel. Well located, within easy walking distance of everything in the CBD, convenient for trams, shopping etc Late night check in was really easy and quick
