Maitland has great architecture from times gone by but many have been or are being refurbished. It is on the Hunter River, so there's easy access to the river from a number of locations. The Maitland Regional Art Gallery never disappoints and I always visit there if I'm there during opening times. Maitland offers a great glimpse into regional Australia. The Family Hotel is a funky pub which offers a great bistro menu and craft beers.

Beautiful suburb with everything you need is in there.
Beautiful suburb with everything you need is in there. Lots of restaurants, petrol station almost in every block. Unfortunately, we feel that the locals are not so friendly with visitors/foreigners come to visit or to explore. They look at us like weird or strange.

Maitland itself has some historic buildings and so has Morpeth but by 3pm Saturday afternoon only the pubs and supermarkets were open. The river area behind the Levee area was a big letdown, just a couple of people with their dog. You have to look down to the river which is not much to look at anyway.

we had dinner at Club Maitland.
we had dinner at Club Maitland. They have meat raffles on a Sunday night. Large portion meals, would recommend. We were only there for one night on personal business so didn't do any touristy things.

Maitland is very quiet.
Maitland is very quiet. A pub we went to - alas we have to wait an hour for our meal (party of 5). Cessnock and Pokolbin are much nicer and a little bit bigger and closer to all the wineries. But for convenience to certain areas, I would not complain. Check out Hunter Valley Gardens, Harrigan Pub, the Smelly Cheese shop and also a chocolate shop in the area

Maitland proved to be a very unattractive town, with little in the way of character and facilities. For a visit to the Hunter Valley wineries, we’d recommend staying in the Pokolbin area, much prettier and a true reflection of a major wine growing region.
Comfortable hotel with share facilities. Some bedrooms have wash basin.
Very clean and serviced daily.
Bathroom facilities in excellent condition and clean.
Self serve continental breakfast provided in community kitchen dining area.
good lunch and dinner served in the hotel.
Staff friendly and very helpful.
Well located in town. A good country pub stay at affordable rates.
Accessibility - easily accessible garage, rooms easy to access with code.
Location - located near a train station to Newcastle, Maitland & Upper Hunter, short walk to IGA & cafes, Windsor Castle across the road which is great for meals.
Apartments were very spacious, set out well with excellent facilities .
Extremely clean. Beds were very comfortable.
Apartments were very quiet.
Location for perfect for us as we were going to see a band at The Junction Hotel. Shops are around the corner, train station next door (handy for one of our friends). Security parking was a good feature for us too.
The apartment was large, clean, smelled good, bed was large and comfy. I highly recommend it and If I go there again I would definetely stay at this place.
Room was nice and clean and had been modernised. When our air conditioner didn't work in our room the gentleman at the front desk could not have been happier to help and then in turn find us a new room when he realised there was an issue.
Location is very handy to Maitland Private Hospital and Greenhills Shopping Centre
I have been staying at another well known brand name motel in Maitland. I thought I would give the Hunter Gateway Motel ago and to my surprise they were excellent in every way. Location, facilities, parking and cleanliness of the room was excellent. I will certainly be coming back next time I’m in Maitland.
Communication was great leading up to our arrival. Instructions clear for how to get keys and enter property.
Lovely modern unit, with classic features.
Close to Maitland, Hunter Valley and Newcastle.
Main bed was comfortable.
We will be back next time we visit the area
We booked the family room. Our pub room was super clean , spacious and characteristically decorated to suit the age of the historic pub. It was like tastefully stepping back into an old era. Loved it. Biggest TV that I have ever seen in any hotel. Ample parking downstairs.
We stayed in a King Room which was large with a table and chairs. It had a microwave, crockery and cutlery. The car park was secured which was great. The Hotel is conveniently situated with shops across the road and a Bowling
Club where we had dinner.
The room was comfortable and warm. The location was excellent and there is pub food downstairs (although a little slow). The hotel's aesthetic was nice and the shared kitchen and bathrooms were sufficient. Plenty of parking in the back. Private sink.
Quest Maitland is nice, big & spacious, clean apartments, central location, within short walking distance to Shops and restaurants, and central to explore and drive around Hunter Valley. Staff helpful.
This motel is like a four-star hotel. I cannot explain anything except the wifi low speed. The room is clean and comfortable. The wall window faces the yard, which makes the room bright.
Hotel was a new experience with it not having a reception, place looked fairly new and beds were quite comfortable and the bathroom was large and the shower had great pressure…
Easy walk to Club Maitland. Room was clean and tidy with sufficient tea & coffee. Great to have a toaster and hair dryer in the room. Towels were fluffy and big enough.
The Quest was clean and the staff were helpful at all times. The initial phone conversation after booking was a nice touch, just to be sure my booking was confirmed.
Nice hotel, quite close to a busy road but there was no road noise inside the room. Staff were very helpful. Bathroom appeared new and everything was clean.
The Family Hotel is located conveniently in the middle of Maitland. It has plenty of off-street parking. Our room was very clean and had a comfy firm bed.
