This was a real last minute booking as we had accidentally booked our other accommodation for the wrong date d'oh! The lady on the phone was helpful in giving me information on the room rates and information about the check in process. There are no staff on site but the code system was easy and the place felt safe overall. It wasn't too far off the highway which was great for us as we were continuing our drive the next morning. There were also some fast food options nearby which was very handy for our late night arrival.
The deluxe king room was massive! The room also had a fridge, TV and air conditioner. We had a comfortable nights stay and were grateful to have secured a safe place to sleep for the night.

Maitland has great architecture from times gone by but many have been or are being refurbished. It is on the Hunter River, so there's easy access to the river from a number of locations. The Maitland Regional Art Gallery never disappoints and I always visit there if I'm there during opening times. Maitland offers a great glimpse into regional Australia. The Family Hotel is a funky pub which offers a great bistro menu and craft beers.

Beautiful suburb with everything you need is in there.
Beautiful suburb with everything you need is in there. Lots of restaurants, petrol station almost in every block. Unfortunately, we feel that the locals are not so friendly with visitors/foreigners come to visit or to explore. They look at us like weird or strange.

Maitland itself has some historic buildings and so has Morpeth but by 3pm Saturday afternoon only the pubs and supermarkets were open. The river area behind the Levee area was a big letdown, just a couple of people with their dog. You have to look down to the river which is not much to look at anyway.

we had dinner at Club Maitland. They have meat raffles on a Sunday night. Large portion meals, would recommend. We were only there for one night on personal business so didn't do any touristy things.

Maitland is very quiet.
Maitland is very quiet. A pub we went to - alas we have to wait an hour for our meal (party of 5). Cessnock and Pokolbin are much nicer and a little bit bigger and closer to all the wineries. But for convenience to certain areas, I would not complain. Check out Hunter Valley Gardens, Harrigan Pub, the Smelly Cheese shop and also a chocolate shop in the area

Maitland proved to be a very unattractive town, with little in the way of character and facilities. For a visit to the Hunter Valley wineries, we’d recommend staying in the Pokolbin area, much prettier and a true reflection of a major wine growing region.
Location for perfect for us as we were going to see a band at The Junction Hotel. Shops are around the corner, train station next door (handy for one of our friends). Security parking was a good feature for us too.
The apartment was large, clean, smelled good, bed was large and comfy. I highly recommend it and If I go there again I would definetely stay at this place.
The location opposite Maitland private was the reason we booked as we had my elderly mother there having surgery. The staff were excellent even changing the room from upstairs to floor level for our mother and were so apologetic about charging the extra $200 with no refund but it's up to the owners not the Manager to make that call.
Room was nice and clean and had been modernised. When our air conditioner didn't work in our room the gentleman at the front desk could not have been happier to help and then in turn find us a new room when he realised there was an issue.
Location is very handy to Maitland Private Hospital and Greenhills Shopping Centre
The lack a blankets and room heating meant I had to get dressed to keep warm in bed during the night. I had stayed in a similar hotel at the same price in Lithgow for several nights previously, and a warm oil heater provided the comfort that was lacking at The Family Hotel, Maitland.
Conveniently located next to Maitland City Bowling Club - It was 40c when we arrived and the air conditioning had been turned on to make it comfortable as soon as we walked in. Loved the ease of self check in - beds and pillows were very comfortable. Perfect for an overnight stay
The room was comfortable and warm. The location was excellent and there is pub food downstairs (although a little slow). The hotel's aesthetic was nice and the shared kitchen and bathrooms were sufficient. Plenty of parking in the back. Private sink.
This motel is like a four-star hotel. I cannot explain anything except the wifi low speed. The room is clean and comfortable. The wall window faces the yard, which makes the room bright.
Easy walk to Club Maitland. Room was clean and tidy with sufficient tea & coffee. Great to have a toaster and hair dryer in the room. Towels were fluffy and big enough.
The Quest was clean and the staff were helpful at all times. The initial phone conversation after booking was a nice touch, just to be sure my booking was confirmed.
The Family Hotel is located conveniently in the middle of Maitland. It has plenty of off-street parking. Our room was very clean and had a comfy firm bed.
