Being a city person, Launceston was a lot quieter than expected. There aren't many shops/restaurants around but enough.
If you are into nature, hiking and camping, then Launceston and its surroundings is the perfect goldmine. We loved Cradle Mountain and the endless hikes it offered.
There are many quaint little coastal towns to explore too up north.

Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get.
Be sure where you stay what they say Is what you get. Look for value for money. Make sure you are aware some properties do want their money days before you arrive and not on arrival. Stay central to access in walking distance to businesses.
Look up parking, locations etc before trekking out.

Just a short review of penny royal.
Just a short review of penny royal. There were notes of charges of 250 to get room cleaned. I didn’t ask if that was extra cleans Launceston seem a pleasant reasonably small city. Suited me fine. Had a wonderful day with family we ate a a bar in Charles street over from target. Beautiful food. Even burgers I normally wouldn’t eat were delicious. Sorry I can’t recall the name. But it was loverly and we sat outside an had a drink and shopped for a couple of hours
We stayed at penny royal. Very unusual and quaint. A lover very happy would go back

Beautiful old buildings everywhere, friendly people, walkable and lots to see and do. Great food and shopping. All meals memorable from coffee shops to restaurants. Fantastic made in Tasmania offerings available from food to furniture.
Had a memorable trip to Josef Cromney winery to do a tasting and lunch, would highly recommend. Taxi required to get there around $30 each way, but worth it. We did both a paddling and boat trip on the river both of which were good, and a separate full day wine tour which was also enjoyable.
We had a fantastic experience during our stay at this hotel in Launceston. The prime location, just a short stroll away from the city centre, cafe's and restaurants, made exploring and enjoying the local attractions incredibly convenient. The staff at the hotel were not only welcoming but also highly professional, catering to our needs with a genuine warmth that added a personal touch to our stay. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Launceston.
Launceston is a quiet little town and this hotel is set at a quiet corner yet very accessible. The room was large for the two of us. We could not park at the carpark for our first night as it seems there was an event that day. We managed to park at the hotel for the 2nd night and the parking fee was cheap.
Service was good, hotel is a great (clean, new and very comfortable beds) and central location in Launceston, some free parking available on site and if it full then their is public parking area next door (cost during the day). The property also has a clothes washing machine room for guest use.
The hotel and itsgrounds were quaint and attractive, the view was lovely and the abience was excellent. It is well located within walking distance of Launceston's main areas. The fridge was well equiped as was the room. The hallways and fixtures were attractive.
The room was very comfortable and felt quite luxurious. Facilities in the bathroom and bedroom were good. The hotel was well situated for accessing the Cascade or the restaurants in Launceston. Parking was easy and I felt comfortable that our car was safe.
Great location as we were flying out from Launceston Airport the next day, only a 15 minute drive. Just loved the history of the Auldington Hotel and was close enough to walk to all dining options. Check in was excellent and free parking on site a bonus.
We highly recommend the Coach House as accommodation stay in Launceston. Clean, tidy, great location, great shower to start the day, value for money.
Not far from the Royal Oak Hotel. Thanks for a great night in Launceston CH!! Would stay again.
The family who run the hotel are super friendly and welcoming. The breakfast selection was great and the coffee was just right in the morning. Nothing over the top, perfect for a quick overnight stay, but could easily have stayed longer.
Clean and quiet room in a convenient location. I checked in twice (one week apart) after hours and the hotel manager gave clear information about how to access the keys. I will stay here again the next time I come to Launceston.
Great location, wonderful staff, clean, great services and restaurants.
I was able to store some luggage at the hotel while I was on an Intrepid Tour.
I was very confident that it was in a safe place.
Spacious & clean. Comfy beds & couches to relax on. Close to Charles St cafe’s & restaurants. Great for a family for a quick stop in Launceston before heading home.
Love the concept of the hotel and room was spacious. Hotel is located next to an awesome playground and sunset was gorgeous with the Tamar river next to it.
