Lots to see and places to visit all within an easy commute.
Lots to see and places to visit all within an easy commute. Never been to a big rural city like Dubbo that has so many railway crossings they are everywhere. Lots of history and culture in Dubbo that needs to be developed better and guides to where everything is to be located. Dubbo is a big rural city but has a great modern hospital located there.

There is much in and around Dubbo, you just need the time and resources to look around, there are places worth a visit less that 1 hour by car around Dubbo,
The Plains zoo is probably worth going back the next day to catch those things you missed on the first days tour, the second day entry is included in the ticket price

As a family we were in Dubbo for the attractions. We purchased a Big Pass, which got us into the Zoo for 2 days, RFDS Experience, Old Dubbo Gaol and Wellington Caves. It was good value for money and all of the experiences were excellent to do as a family. We particularly loved the zoo and caves (even booking a second tour at the caves to see the Gaden one as well as Cathedral). We ate at Royal Indian on our first night, which was excellent dining and reasonably priced. During our stay we also ate at Burger Urge and a mexican restaurant - both of which were good but a bit more 'takeoutish'. The main street had plenty of shopping experiences for the kids, with our daughter loving the local games D&D store. We also were there over New Years, and attended the fireworks on the oval for a small $2 per person charge - very reasonable. This was good family fun with plenty of food van options. Our kids really enjoyed the Dubbo Pool and water slides (extra cost and a bit pricey for a family at $10 pp for 30 minutes) and went there on a few days to enjoy the splashpark and cool off in the pool. Altogether we had a really lovely family experience and would recommend it for a 1 week visit for any family.

Dubbo is a hub for public transport and the trains and coaches connect well.
Taronga Zoo is excellent, and staying overnight is a treat as there are extra tours only available for those who stay. The art gallery and museum are excellent and the main garden is gorgeous.
The Exhibition/Theatre complex program has a great lineup for 2024 - I marked what I was going to book for until I remembered that I didn't live in Dubbo!

Plenty of things to discover, surrounding towns provided great day trips.
Tourist attractions were fantastic, but even discovering the local pubs, shops and eateries were great!
The Shire Bar and Grill and Pizza Monster are musts to revisit on our next trip.
A Lovely cottage, so quiet and yet close to Western Plains Zoo, the Observatory (highly recommended), and close enough to Dubbo city centre for restaurants and other attractions.
Fresh bread on arrival. Everything for breakfast fruit, eggs, croissants etc.
Kangaroos in the fields first thing in the morning are a treat. Sitting on the back porch in the evening with birds, ducks and geese aplenty near the pond - great way to end the day.
Can't think of anything that has been missed in terms of facilities.
Highly recommended
Cleanliness, cooking stove, fridge, AC, TV, cutleries and utensils, Toilet and shower equipments, beds and last but not least - you can park the car right in front of your room. It had everything you need for a reasonably great price; the price would be double with the same amenities in a hotel. Shopping was just at the other side of the road. Dubbo Zoo, observatory and most visiting spots are within 15 minutes drive.
The room was big enough. The east view over tennis court and position of room was good. Great balcony with view to tennis court. There were enough power points and device points for our electronic devices. Dinner restaurant only. Close to other restaurants. Next door to golf club. Close to the Zoo, almost walking distance, if you were keen for the extra exercise.
Very clean and enormous room with huge bathroom with a massive spa - very clean. Bed was comfortable and had kitchenette for tea and coffee. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend - across the road from Club Dubbo so easy walk to dinner and a few km to zoo/town centre.
We stayed in the Deluxe King Suite. Room was very clean, comfy beds. The location is also excellent, close to Macquarie St and many fastfood places along Cobra St. Just a short stroll to the city area. The Dubbo Zoo (about 4 kms from the motel) can be reached easily by bike or car.
Great Location! Wonderful relaxing place to stay, we didn't want to be in Dubbo city, chose a more relaxed, pet friendly location, but still easy access to Dubbo and its facilities. How good sitting by the fire pit, glass of wine and incredible stars in the sky PERFECT!!!
It is an older style motel but very comfortable, well-maintained and reasonably priced. It is centrally located but we did not experience any difficulties with noise either in the complex or from the street outside. If I travel to Dubbo again I will happily stay here.
Friendly staff, late check-in and a secure carpark, quiet location a bit out of the centre of town. We had good quality food, huge servings and a good range of beers in the pub downstairs for lunch or dinner, close to a supermarket for resupplies if you need it.
Clean & spacious room with all the amenities for a longer stay (ie washing machine, dryer, dishwasher etc). Undercover parking provided at cost and a short walk into the main drag for food, drink & entertainment. Short drive to Dubbo Zoo.
I always stay there when I travel to Dubbo as they support the Dorper Sheep Society of Australia's events. And their service and accommodation is excellent. They let us use function rooms and provide everything we need.
The rooms were sparkling clean and spacious. Lots of places to eat nearby which makes it easy. Will definitely stay again next time we stop in Dubbo & will definitely recommend to others as well. Thanks!
We visited Dubbo to go to the zoo, the highlight of our stay was the staying at the motel! Went for dinner at the pub and in the morning had complimentary brekkie in the bistro!
