It was a good a good base for two nights (we booked an extra night) because it is easy drive to Halls Gap to walk in the Grampians and also tour around the area. Ararat has a museum, art gallery and delightful gardens to walk through. Has retained lot of Art Deco buildings which gives it a lovely ambience.

Local interesting history, being the JWard prison and Ararat Lunatic Asylum - both worth a visit. Town centre has ample cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes, and shopping to suit all interests. Short drive to Stawell, Halls Gap and Grampians. An interesting and worthwhile place to visit.

Easy to walk around the town, restaurants within easy walk.
Easy to walk around the town, restaurants within easy walk. The Alexandra Gardens were beautiful to wander around and with a cafe as well. The Chinese heritage building was worth a visit with kids, they tried gold panning, dressed up and wrote their names in calligraphy while learning a little bit about the history of the town. A few restaurants looked ok in the main street, we chose Khoon Thai and certainly werent disappointed.

We had dinner at the RSL and were very pleased with the generous meal and atmosphere. Another dinner at Sicilians restaurant, great food and service. The Information Centre staff very helpful and informative.

There are a couple of wonderful restaurants. From 7 pubs to two, this is disappointing. Wonderful gardens, museums, architecture and local history. Grampians and vineyards for miles. Fratin brothers at cathcart; their Rosè is to die for. Great shopping.

Have used Ararat a number of times en route.
Have used Ararat a number of times en route. A pleasant town with some choices for eating out and some interesting places to visit. Close proximity to wine region and Grampians. Beautiful country side. No need to rush your visit.
We arrived early evening from Adelaide. We were pleasantly welcomed by the man behind the bar, and then promptly shown our room by a young lady. Our room was lovely, nice and roomy. Clean and comfortable. The next surprise was the amazing meal we had at the bar restaurant. It was delicious and welcoming after a long drive. We loved our short stay and will remember and recommend the Court House hotel to others travelling.
Sadly I was unable to try the breakfast other than a cup of tea and a couple of Kookas Country Cookies due to time constraints.
This motel actually has premium toilet paper (4 ply) and a good range of toiletries for use and as well, has about the best shower I have ever used, it is awesome. Walking distance to the RSL, hotels and cafes.
This is a lovely pub and bistro in a great location in Ararat. Staff and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. They were very kind in shouting me a free dinner due to being given a small room (see below). I had a parma in the bar downstairs for dinner, which was delicious, and the eggs benedict for breakfast which was also good.
Our Ararat Motor Inn room was upgraded for us before we arrived, was spotlessly clean, the shower had amazing pressure, a pod coffee machine was supplied in the room, we had under cover parking directly outside our door and the free WiFi worked effortlessly well.
Hotel is at central location of Ararat, very affordable price with restaurant grade breakfast and wifi. Theres also a little bard downstars the owner Sandy and Rob were extramely friendly and accomodating. Ideal for travellers will definately come back!
Great place for a stop over. Service is good and the rooms are clean. The traffic and the trains are fairly quiet. I would recommend this venue if you need a quick stop over or somewhere to sleep if you have a busy day.
Friendly staff on arrival. It was a well designed modern caravan perfect for a family. We stayed for 1 night but would have been good for a longer stay. Within walking distance to Ararat main street/ shops
comfortable motel, well presented and spacious room kept very clean. Hosts were very helpful and welcoming. Ample space in grounds and well located to main street, RSL club and Blue Duck Hotel.
This accomodation is right in heart of Ararat, perfect location for a traveller with everything you really need for your stay, special mention to the hosts for their hospitality and management.
A small room but very neat and modern and felt quite like a nice hotel room in the city.
Warm and cosy once the air-con kicks in. Great shower pressure and good basic kitchenette facilities.
The room was spacious. We had everything we needed. The electric blanket was a bonus as it was a very cold night in Ararat when we were there. The air con was quiet too.
IT’s Ararat, not much else happening. If you’re going to pull out the 5 star treatment, this place is perfect for the location of the town centre and thats all.
