Great area, near beach and a nice little holiday park with good amenities. Swimming pool close to kitchen, BBQ and covered area with tables, fab for families. Our small accommodation looked like a playhouse from the outside with a veranda to sit on, but provided tv, shower, toilet, kitchenette and double bed. Fine for the 1 night we stayed.

Our church group members went to Whanganui, some stayed at Coachmans Lodge Motel and some stayed at Burwood Motel. We did not really going around Whanganui as we were there for an event for our church and we had our lunch and dinner at the church hall.
We find it very easy to get around Whanganui and we will visit other places next time we go there.
We really enjoyed our trip.

Whanganui is a bit of a hidden gem! Excellent dining spots and cafe's. If you are an art lover then it is the place for you. Lots of Galleries and local art collectives to meander through. The river walk is a great stroll and older buildings to admire.

Easy access to the main shopping area.
Easy access to the main shopping area. It was a public holiday so few places were open. So didn’t experience all what was on offer. Also there is 15% surcharge on top of what you buy when using your credit card ! Pay by cash ! Lovely walk along the river. I-site is an information centre which is really helpful. Travel up on the oldest elevator on Druie Hill amazing views

Whanganui is not a place we have spent any time at.
Whanganui is not a place we have spent any time at. As one of NZ’s few riverside cities, we enjoyed the differences that such locations offer. Whanganui has a rich history both Maori and Pakeha which we enjoyed learning sbout
Suite was sparkling clean and fresh, quality linens, comfortable bed and pillows. Beautiful, modern large bathroom with double shower. Alka provided lots of options for breakfast, including bread, cereal, milk, yogurt, tea and coffee and fruit. Dishes and cutlery for two was included. Beautiful view to private yard. Large windows with plenty of sunshine. Private access path with lights activated in the evening. Excellent property that we would highly recommend! And a wonderful host family!
The Klein House is an amazing place to stay! We really enjoyed everything! Everything is super comfortable, feels really like a home away from home. Gus is baking rye sourdough bread and a lovely breakfast provision is in the fridge. Kitchen is well equipped. A choice of different teas, capsule machine, and should you be a pro even a proper espresso machine is available.
Well, we will be definitely be back! Thank you for providing such a cool space, guys!
I liked the hosts that were polite and friendly. The cleaning staff were awesome and always asked if we needed anything they were glad to help. Our two motel rooms that we requested were beside each other and separated. When you book early the hosts will do their utmost to accommodate you. Easy parking and you are not far from the main city of Whanganui. Awesome location.
No breakfast offered as it was winter low season. We were happy to self cater using the attached hostel common area.(which by the way had comfortable sitting area with television, as did the gracious formal lounge reserved for B&B guests.)A really nice , grand and gracious old property undergoing renovations. Warm, spacious bedroom with french doors out onto balcony.
It was a great location and lovely staff and the bar etc but was a bit gutted with our room over other family that stayed and their rooms for the same price were alot better and new and outside of the hotel it's self compared to ours we got.if we hadn't of seen the others studios over our room it probably wouldn't have bugged us. Overall was good.
Beautiful location next to the Whanganui River on the very edge of the city. Great to be up among the birds and watch the canoeists go by. Fantastic conversion of the former signal box into accommodation and very nicely done. Well appointed, loved the bedding and ingenious the way everything needed has been fitted into the space.
Andrew puts a lot of effort into providing a great breakfast to start the day with. There is a great range of food options available and Andrew is a pretty decent cook.
The location of Shurinji is very convenient being only a few kilometres outside of Whanganui and being surrounded by countryside, it is a very quiet location.
The room was very modern and very clean. Felt like a 5 star hotel. Everything you would need to feel like you were on a holiday with privacy. Rory was an excellent host who we felt genuinely cared about our stay in Whanganui. Thank you Rory. Will definitely book again at the Smith House.
The room was spacious and easy to accommodate everyone when we all gathered in one room. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Also liked the laundry facilities available for guests. The motel is laid out in such a way that you don't hear noises from other rooms.
My room was spacious and comfortable. I really appreciated the excellent support provided by Sam. He was courteous and helpful. Thank you for the recommendations on finding the best coffee in Whanganui. Hope to see you again. Cheers, Richard
English style pub hotel, very comfortable, huge room and bed, very nice staff and lovely breakfast. Free parking at the back very useful. Whanganui turned out to be an interesting and attractive town, would like to have stayed longer.
Breakfast was very good. We loved your hotel. And next time we visit whanganui, we'll be looking to stay at the Grand hotel. Thankyou so much for our overnight stay. We very much enjoyed it. Thanks. Vee and Harry.x
Immaculate and large apartment right in the Centre of Whanganui. Car parked outside the door. Very quiet with lovely owners. 5 minute walk to the main street and excellent craft beer and food in the Rutland Arms
