The room was spotless! I mean really really clean. I did some exercises and I have never seen a carpet so clean and that's with my nose basically touching it. The bathroom was spotless up to the ceiling and in the corners. The shower was powerful and hot. The bedding was There was a TV with a smart TV attached which I didn't use. The receptionist was very friendly, welcoming and relaxed. A new very quiet and super efficient heat pump keeps the room toasty. Functionally there was nothing to fault.

I just love the relaxed surroundings of Te Anau, it's one of my favorites destinations for a few'nights-getaway..there is lots to do and if you're adventurous you can do even more! Amazing nature, the lake is just stunning, township is not too big but has all you could want/need. Brilliant food places...love The Ranche and the Moose. Redcliff restaurant and bar is a unexpected find, quaint and quirky but great food and staff. Overall, Te Anau is a beautiful destination if you're looking for somewhere not too touristy (at least, it doesn't feel that way)

This is a nice location which has everything.
This is a nice location which has everything. The town centre has everything that you would need. Friendly people in shops and businesses. Great range of different restaurants. Excellent tourist attractions. Very convenient to Milford Sound - 2 hours through stunning countryside. A lot better to travel from Te Anau to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound than to come from Queenstown - 4 hours travel
The best place we found to eat and just chill at was Red Cliff Bar and Restaurant - friendly staff, exceptional food and first rate service.
A couple of must do's are: Wings and Water (float plane) with Ivan and Cruise Te Anau with Peter. Both locals, highly entertaining and knowledgeable.

This is a great, very small town that makes a great stay to see the Fiordlands. Stay at a location with a view of the lake. Activities from here are a great choice. The lake and mountains are beautiful and eat at the Ranch, best place we ate on both islands.

We stayed a bit longer in Te Anau to do a bit of hiking.
We stayed a bit longer in Te Anau to do a bit of hiking. It's a small town, so easy to get to know quickly. The nicer restaurants need a reservation, and it seemed when we went that quite a few restaurants were short-staffed. If dining is important to you, check out where you want to eat a few days beforehand.
Nice motel right opposite to the lake. The place is close to the town center. We stayed here for a day before our journey to Milford Sound. The room was spacious and clean. The motel has a guest laundry. Robin is a great host and provides a ton of information about Te Anau, places for dinner, travelling to Milford Sound, etc. The room was spacious and comfortable for a family of 3. The room had one double bed and one single bed. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and tidy. Place has free onsite car parking.
Nothing fancy, but very comfortable and clean. A queen bed in the bedroom, two singles in the living area, all very comfortable and warm (stayed in late March). The little kitchen was outfitted with all the dishes we needed for our cereal breakfasts and takeout dinners. I'm sure we could have cooked If we had wanted to. It has a mini fridge, not a full fridge, which was fine for us. Te Anau was a great location for seeing Milford Sound and the beautiful scenery and hikes in between.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at Amber Hotel and highly recommened. They have a a separate shower and bath. Water is strong with unlimited hot water. Bed and pillows are very comfy. They may not have Netflix or Disney, my children enjoyed watching dvds. My 2 eldest boys were telling their young sister about the days when there is no Netflix and disney+ 😂. Te Anau is the best place to find accommodation if planning to travel to Milford Sound.
Our unit was warm, comfortable, immaculately clean, and had everything we needed. The heating was on when we arrived, it had a heated bathroom floor, and I was pleased to find there was an electric blanket. I appreciated having real milk provided for our cups of tea (rather than fiddly little sachets of UHT milk that many places offer). Anchorage will be my motel choice for any return visits to Te Anau.
The motel is on the lakeside, very beautiful, and close to the town center (10 minutes by footwalk on the lakeside). The room is very cozy, very clean and big. It has a bathroom and an equipped kitchen. The beds are very comfortable. Parking lot in front of the room. Friendly staff. Great price/value. Definitely recommended if you visit Te Anau and Milford Sound.
Such a wonderful place to stay! The unit was beautiful, spacious, and exceptionally clean. we came back each day to clean towels and a freshly made bed, which was a wonderful touch. Annie was so friendly and welcoming, and even did our laundry for us. We would absolutely recommend staying here during your visit to Te Anau!
The location was phenomenal, and the rooms were exceptionally clean. The delicious breakfast menu offered a ton of options. Hosts Sarah and John were incredibly hospitable, providing us with numerous suggestions for places to visit and dine. I highly recommend High Leys Lodge for anyone considering a stay in Te Anau!
The location was great, being just a few minutes to walk into town.
It is also opposite Lake Te Anau, which has a lovely walk along the lakefront.
The hotel is spacious and our room was a good size with a lovely view of the lake.
All the staff we met, were very friendly and helpful.
The garden room had a lovely view of the garden. The room was smartly decorated and the facilities were good. Bed was comfortable. Loved the sheets.
Having breakfast provided was a nice touch.
Heated towel rail was a luxury.
The property is stunning to walk around.
The motel is situated very conveniently to everything in Te Anau. It's just a short drive to one of the major attractions in the area, the starting point for Doubtful Sound and the Te Any glow worm caves. It's also a good spot for taking a day trip to Milford Sound.
It’s right next to the lake Te Anau and very close to the town center where you can find grocery stores, food, and shops. It’s such a peaceful hostel and it offers nice outdoor dining area. Loved its chill atmosphere. Would come back if I visit Te Anau again.
The location is very central and near the lake. The host was very friendly and her team keeps the Lodge in good order. The garden in the front is beautiful and captivated my wife and daughters :) Would recommend to families doing a short stay in Te Anau.
Amazing location, very close to the Te Anau lake with gorgeous views of the mountains. Very conveniently located for a drive to Milford sound and back in the same day. Lots of places to explore nearby as well. Gary was an amazing host!
The location is on the water front at Lake Te Anau but the hotel is not built along the lake front like others. so most rooms do not get a lake view. My room was a good size, though the bathroom was compact. Very comfortable bed.
Very clean room.
Accessible facilities were very good within the room
Staff were delightful
Excellent cats
Well decorated, and seems newly refurbished
Quiet
Near Lake Te Anau and parking right outside.
Lovely modern lodge on the Milford Road on the edge of Te Anau. Very spacious and clean. Short walk into Te Anau. The cooking facilities are limited but I would certainly stay again and recommend.
Good motel conveniently located near centre of Te Anau. Pretty comfortable, good facilities. Guest laundry is helpful but needs $1 and $2 coins and no staff were present on site to provide change.
The hotel was located by the side of the Lake Te Anau. Our room was on the second floor of the building, which can clearly see the lake. The receptionist was nice and helpful.
