The motel was easy to find, very clean and had a very comfortable bed. The staff were very nice. It was very reasonably priced. It has limited kitchen facilities, but is fine to make yourself a simple breakfast.

Kmart open until midnight - crazy!.
Kmart open until midnight - crazy!. The park in the centre of city is beautiful and big. There is lots of completely different features including massive deck chairs that can sit an entire family or plenty of spaces for picnics. Short walking distance to every place you would want to go, free parking if you are willing to walk a couple of blocks to get to the malls/plaza. Food is AMAZING, especially the Korean restaurant we went to, and the bubble tea in plaza is yummy - they have fruit balls if you don't like tapioca like us. Plenty of shopping, only wish some of the stores stayed open a bit later, so much to do, so little time.

Palmerston North has pretty countryside surroundings and lovely wide streets but the town square is very tricky to navigate and gets busy but that's where the shops are mostly.
Very little to do there for apart from walks, gardens and cafes. That's all the brochures offered. We went op shopping which was really good. Too many fast food eateries but very few good restaurants. We went to the turkish cafe, really good.
We went up the Wind farm to view the turbines, no where to stop and take decent photos!! And everyone drives too fast up there.
No activities in town for indoor wet weather entertainment.
I've travelled all around NZ and found this town pretty boring in comparison.. We were there for a tournament, luckily we were at that venue mostly (Heads up to Hockey Manawatu). Only ate out once for dinner. ! So many missed opportunities!!

Check google maps, once you work out the way the main streets are laid out it is easy to navigate. Shopping experience along with ample restuarants. The countryside around Palmerston North is well worth a look as are nearby cities about 1 hour or so away like Napier or Wanganui.

Everything we needed was within easy walking distance which was great as we were there to get a vehicle serviced. We ate at the Rose and Crown (Irish pub) which was quick, filling and had a great atmosphere.

Great little city with enough to do to keep you busy (indoors and out), great dining available too!
We enjoy coming here for weekend getaways but could also happily stay longer.
The Brewers Apprentice was fantastic to eat at and family friendly.

I see alot of motels, this one by far exceeded my expectations. Rooms were alot larger than I expected which was perfect for myself and kids, staff super friendly, lots of space for us all to do our own thing, nice quiet area, lovely rooms and plenty of parking. Very close to plaza/ town, takeaways/restaurants and things for the kids to do like skate bowls.
I highly recommend the Camelot and I will be staying there for future work weekends and holidays with the family.
A last minute decision to overnight in Palmy and decided to try something different other than a hotel. I booked quite late in the afternoon so was very grateful for Jenny and Doug to accept my request via booking.com app.
I found the unit was very clean, and comfy. Jenny and Doug are adorable and very welcoming. They have homemade goodies throughout the room which worked a treat - soaps, jams, cookies etc… If you’re in the area, I recommend the stay.
We were very glad of a room to stay as accommodation in Palmerston North was sold out. The staff were friendly and there was plenty of off road parking. The room was basic and clean. We had a sink and towels provided in our room. The picture very much sums the place up - it looks like it has been a local stopping off place for many years and the pub frequented by locals. Was able to help myself to a cup of tea and toast in the morning.
The location was just so close to town and the event we were going to. Parking was great.
The rooms were beautifully presented! We were greeted with lovely hospitality --even offering lovely fresh fruit and lollies.
Think we will always stay here whenever we visit Palmerston north again.
The size and comfort of the room. This suited my family and I and met all our needs. We did have to book an extra night, due to unforeseen circumstances, due to the popularity of the hotel, all rooms were booked, so we had to go somewhere else.
Location was great, short walk into the square. Although an older motel, it is spotless and offers all amenities. Brenda could not have been better. She offers good old kiwi hospitality with her South African twist. Highly recommended
This motel represents very good value for money. A big space at 44 sq metres and cheaper than smaller studio units at other motels in Fitzherbert Ave.
Great location - just over the road from the Botanic gardens.
Host was extremely accommodating, lovely warm space with plenty of room. Beds were really comfortable. We will definitely book again next time we are in Palmerston North
