Great views of the mountains. Not many eating options but it is a tiny town/village. Schnapps bar is cozy and decent pub food. Spiral restaurant buffet breakfast was a bit average, a la carte menu looked better but wasn’t available on Sunday

Obviously the mountains are the immediate attraction.
Obviously the mountains are the immediate attraction. Great walks to suit all abilities and energy levels. Stayed in National Park Village-but choose carefully. The trucks run all night and cause a lot of noise and vibration as they don't stick to speed limits-they also use the side roads too-so just be aware when booking rooms to choose well away from the road and side roads. Getting around the park is easy with a car-no real need for a 4WD. Wouldn't recommend bikes though given the distances. Plenty of choices for food-keep an eye out for the village food trucks as they offer really good food.

Pretty easy to get too.
Pretty easy to get too. Train every other day and a bus every day, if you’re not doing public transportation, a car is about the only other option. You cold fly to Taupo then get a transfer but that would be $$$$

10/10 for comfort, style and convenience.
10/10 for comfort, style and convenience. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfy but stylish place go stay with friends & family. Has everything you need all in the perfect location.
Was convenient for us since we came to National Park to hike the Tongariro crossing- the car park was only 25 minutes away. I really appreciated the facilities- rooms were simple but had everything we needed including a blow dryer, shampoo, body wash. The beds were fine and the shower functional with great pressure and nice hot water. The shared kitchen area was clean and had everything we might need. We enjoyed our stay!
Very close to the Ketetahi Carpark for the Tongariro Crossing. Mobile phone service with Spark only - none for Vodafone or 2 Degrees. Good to know for anyone considering future bookings :-) Also make sure to bring your cooking pots and utensils, and own bowls, cups, plates and cutlery as in the description - the kitchen ovens, fridges and microwaves are there to use but you must bring your own cooking and eating gear.
We liked the location with its views of Mt Ruapehu, Ngarahoe and Tongariro. Easy parking. Good meal in a pleasant restaurant (though slow service). Room was clean and well lit. Beds comfortable and plenty of power sockets. Couch to watch TV but no desk. Ours was a smaller than normal room. We liked the hotel overall but felt we had not experienced the best they could offer.
Great location at National Park Village. The quad room with ensuite was a good size. clean and tidy. Our son loves the climbing wall located inside the property and the mini gold just next door. Excellent base for exploring Tongariro National Park and/or the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. The shuttle for the crossing stops just outside.
We had a wonderful stay at the Tongariro crossing lodge, even though the weather was a little rainy and moody. Having a pleasant environment with a lot of walks around and suggestions from the staff was really helpful. we can confirm as per everyone’s reviews that the breakfast is really nice as well.
The location of the property is close to the national park center and walking distance to the two restaurants in town. The staff was very friendly. Despite the weather, they have alternative recommendations. We also were able to watch movies in the common room that you can borrow from the office.
I felt like home. Joyce is super nice! The Lodge has everything you need: comfortable bed, big kitchen, good wifi, a nice and comfy common area, hot water, groceries. The place is quiet and very well located for tongariro national park (you take shuttle buses and Joyce can take you to Whakapapa).
Very convivial and friendly atmosphere in the spacious kitchen. The location is great, very close to the Tongariro Alpine crossing. There is a nice little pub right beside it! It was so nice to have a family room with a private bathroom! We can hop on a shuttle right outside the youth hostel.
Tracy and Thomas are extremely welcoming, and do everything to make you feel at ease! They provide everything you need to enjoy Tongariro National Park in excellent conditions. Cleanliness, calm, living space and a pleasant kitchen, everything is perfect!
Great little lodge. Handy to National park, and very warm and cosy setting. Wasn’t expecting much for the really cheap rate, but it was really nice, and a perfect place to rest up after a full day exploring the walks around Tongariro national park
Great location for Tongariro. Room was not large, but was comfortable and well equipped. Liked the common area outside for guests to mingle. When we visited they had a Grillhaus food truck parked all day in the parking lot, which was awesome.
Clean comfortable accommodation with good kitchen facilities, helpful friendly staff, great owners, transfer to Tongariro crossing and other places, good lounge for wet weather, drying facilities - all at a very reasonable price
Very close to Tongariro National Park. Check-in easy as was met by owner. Good views of mountains from LR. Owners friendly and responsive. Unit reasonably clean on arrival.
Very good location to start exploring Tongariro National Park. Ideal for hikers and backpackers before and after hiking or tramping. Friendly and uncomplicated staff.
