Lyon is a gastronomic center with a pretty architectural facade ranging from antiquity to modern day. Place Bellecour is centrally located between the Saône and Rhône Rivers in the 2nd arrondissement and opens out into major shopping streets.
On the banks of the Saône lies the district of Vieux Lyon, a great example of the Renaissance and full of museums such as the Lyon History Museum. Winding your way through the beautiful streets you can make your way up to the spectacular white-stone Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and look down over the city.
There is a lot going on in the main park of Lyon, Parc de la Tête d'Or, which is home to a zoo of exotic animals as well as various sports facilities and a large lake for boating. Boats of a different description are docked on the banks of the Rhône River; they host parties late into the night.
For a taste of tradition, Lyon’s famous bistros, or Bouchons Lyonnais, provide a cozy atmosphere for some of the best in French gastronomy. Plan your perfect holiday in one of Booking.com’s 130+ hotels, apartments or guest houses.
Nice city for a city break.
I liked the city center and the Confluence museum.
I ate lyonesse food at the local "Bouchon", loved the atmosphere, but I was not impressed by the food. Tripe, fade sausages and a lot of ham, not on my taste. Not bad, but not great either.

Lyon is a small lovely city.
Lyon is a small lovely city. A day trip is enough to see few must-see places and walking around the cit. It would be better to check restaurants whether they are open. There were time slots that they were closed. But we found one nice and cozy cafe that offers various of sandwiches, drinks, bowls and coffee. Momento (49 Gd Rue de la Croix-Rousse) was a great cafe.

Lyon is a beautiful city so much history and beautiful landmarks to see. Unfortunately, due to high water levels we were unable to do the boat cruise on the river-maybe next time. I would highly recommend getting the Lyon city pass as it gives you access to all the museums as well as the transit system. The buses, metro, trams and fenicular were amazing. They were so clean and efficient. If you have a chance to go to the city, it’s a must see.

I only had one day two nights in Lyon at the end of a three month ski trip. I enjoyed the shopping and walking the central shopping area. I wanted to get some berets before I left and found three good shops for these and got 3 beret and a cap. I also found a good French made chefs knife for my mother. There's lots of shopping and restaurants and it's all very walkable.
Its a nice city/area if you want to shop, eat, maybe enjoy with your partner. At night there are street side pubs in some alleys and it's quite romantic.
There are a lot of homeless people, and a few beggars. This is the norm with most cities today. I never felt unsafe but I did notice an active police presence and a lot of security in businesses. I felt there was a rough element and I am curious how safe Lyon really is.
I'd like to have had a few more days, but I got what I needed...

A great place for a short-stay holiday - plenty to do and enjoy - I would warn people about the metro which we used a lot - I had 3 credit cards stolen and then used very quickly -!whilst this did not spoil our break, it did leave a bad taste!

A large city but one that is easy to navigate with an efficient public transport system.
Lots to see outside; Tete D'Or park, Fourviere Hill and Roman remains, Confluences area, city squares and different neighbourhoods.
Lots of cultural events; Opera de Lyon, Resistance and Deportation museum, Chants de Mars festival and lots more
A huge choice for eating out with many low intervention wines on offer
Great location! Superbly renovated lobby and lounge area inside a historic building. There is an elevator. Our room for 3 people was the largest room I have rented for anyone in France! Air conditioning at +32 was very helpful! We had a problem with hot water - we lived alone in this building. In the morning the manager flushed the water and it went hot). As compensation for the cold evening shower, we received a free breakfast!
We booked this hotel twice during our vacation in France. Both times were consistent - friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds, linens, and room. The hotel is perfectly located to everything but quiet surroundings at night. Highly recommended and will stay here again if I am Lyon. Ordered room service our first night because we were too tired to go out and also had a great experience with delicious food and a bottle of wine.
This is a very convenient place to stay if you are coming or going from the Lyon airport. It is next to the train station and there is the Rhone Express train just across the street from the hotel to take you to and from the airport.
Check in was quick and easy and very welcoming. The room was fine, it had a bit of wear but nicely updated bathrooms and a very comfortable bed. I would stay here again.
This hotel was a great stop for us, before we could move into our apartment. It is dog friendly (7 euro/night) and had parking (15euro/day) so that was all very convenient. The room has a small kitchen corner, ample storage space, a nicely sized bathroom (for France) and a large bed. I would definitely recommend it, as it was clean and comfortable enough for a few days at a good price.
You can’t beat this location, especially for the price. We only had one afternoon and evening in Lyon which we regretted after arriving and seeing how cool the city and our hotel was! The staff at Le Phénix try really hard to make your stay as nice as possible. The design, mixing minimal modernism with the historic architecture was spot on. Highly recommend!
It was truly the most unique place we’ve ever stayed. Meticulously renovated rooms, in a building that—like a lot of places in France—sits on a site once occupied by the Romans. The hosts were just lovely! They treated us to a breakfast of French treats on the first morning—all to die for. A charming private garden is the icing on the cake.
In accordance with my expectations, I used to stay many times in MEININGER chain hotels.
Very polite and helpful staff (we got earlier check in), basic but nice rooms, very clean hotel in total.
The price was overall high but comparing with other hotels in Lyon these days, still it was a good deal (believe it or not).
It is a really nice hostel for this price I think. The staff was incredibly friendly and it is great that they have things like a free food fridge. This was my first time in France so i cannot really compare with another place but my experience was really good. Thank you for everything!
The rooms are small but have everything you need. The bed is comfy and the bunk bed above the double bed is a nice thing for children.
The hotel is very close to the train station, really just a few meters, which makes it ideal for train travels to Lyon.
Location was perfect, next to the train station, so we didn’t have to lug our luggages around.
The hotel was also located near the old town and the shopping area, really convenient for travelers looking to stay at Lyon on a short time line.
The hotel was amazing. Very good location in the central area. The staff is super helpful with everything. The room was small but cozy and had everything needed including AC with is very useful during summer time in Lyon.
Most staff was able to speak English. That still is to be regarded as a big plus in France...
It's a rather new hotel so most things ok. Beds were ok. Choice in breakfast was not huge, but what was available was good.
Nice, simple, clean and cozy hotel on the great location. Comfortable beds, great rain shower and free water. Great stuff, especially the young dark haired lady in the morning shift, the kindest person we met in France.
Great Value for money, good location in Vieux Lyon, you can. Close to the station, enough restaurants in the area. The hotel is on the 2nd floor, quiet and a very friendly staff.
