Home to Dukes of Burgundy for 4 centuries, Dijon is a magnificent combination of colour and culture. Set on a large square with fountains, the Ducal Palace houses a fabulous fine art museum. You can climb Philippe Le Bon tower here for wonderful views of the multi-coloured tiles typical of the city’s roofs.
Equally as vibrant are the half-timbered facades in the Old Town. The best examples are in cobbled Place François Rude, where relaxed bars and cafes offer good people watching.
On a grander scale is Place Darcy whose Porte Guillaume arch faces a shady park. Dijon’s many green spaces include huge Parc de la Colombière whose central path was considered by Louis XIV the most beautiful in his kingdom. Another popular walk is along Promenade de l'Ouche starting near the hospital and ending at large Kir Lake where you can swim.
This is an evidently wealthy city, so there are plenty of places to shop, but a must-see is Les Halles market, designed by Gustav Eiffel, architect of the tower.
Don’t check out of your Dijon hotel, apartment or B&B without touching the owl on the side of Notre Dame church – use your left hand for good luck. Dijon Airport is a domestic airport, but the city is easily reached by car and train.

Dijon is a lovely old town with layers of history and architectural styles. Numerous secret courtyards to discover accidentally. It boasts delicious restaurants from traditional French to Japanese-influenced flavors and presentation. Numerous lovely cafes and boutiques. Museum of Burgundy life was weirdly cool. Musee des Beaux Arts was mostly focused on religious to renaissance painting and a wonderful Pissaro landscape. Ended with a strong exhibituon of a contemporary female French sculptor and her partner.

A beautiful city and well worth a visit.
A beautiful city and well worth a visit. It has two cathedrals and both are most attractive inside. The main street " rue de la Liberte" is pedestrianised but be careful of the scooters and bikes which roar past you. Plenty of shops but brasseries, cafes and restaurants are not always obviously located. Choose wisely and the food and price will be excellent.
The museums are all worthwhile a visit and most are free unless there is a special exhibition.
Tourist map is fairly useless

Dijon has a rich and important history for Burgundy.
Dijon has a rich and important history for Burgundy. This is reflected in the grandeur of the buildings in the old city center. A visit to the Palais des Ducs is a must, but it is also nice to just wander around. Around every corner there are cafes, restaurants and local shops.

A lovely, friendly and walkable city.
A lovely, friendly and walkable city. Paris is lovely, but hectic and sometimes impersonal. Dijon was charming, relaxing and a delight to walk and see so many sights. Good Cuisine! There were times when there was a language barrier but all of the locals we spoke with were patient and considerate! If there was any concerns, we noted a consistent difficulty with the ability to ship purchases to the US. Other cities were able to accommodate; Dijon shop keepers explain that international tourism is relatively new and some services are just not yet available.

Dijon was perfect place for us as there was a lot of history, its an interesting town and very easy to walk around the owl markers on the ground made it easy to see the city highlights without a map.
There are plenty of places to eat delicious French food, plenty of bars and the city at night was buzzing without feeling dangerous.
Located just South of Dijon, this is an ideal location if, like me your driving from one end of France to the other, or just need a place to rest. The staff are fab, despite the slight language difficulties on my part. The food in the evenings is great, breakfast is fine if you don't mind a traditional French style.
Parking is good and the hotel is located on the outskirts of this city. If I'm traveling from Calais to Montpellier I often use this as the midway stop over, highly recommended.
Very nice and helpful staff. A lot of touristic information on-site.
The room is an open space form. Toilet and bathroom with shower are separate rooms.
Fantastic location very close to the city centre.
Very easy to park your car near to hotel but you need to pay. We've stayed only for one night so we paid only by 6 pm and check out before 8 am, but if you'd like to stay longer you probably need to check the parking option in Dijon.
- The location was fabulous - a lovely street with less tourists than in many places in the city centre;
- The apartment was impeccably clean, really nicely decorated, and with great wiews from the window;
- The place was pet friendly;
- The host was super nice and helpful;
- Overall, if we were to stay in Dijon again, we would choose the same apartment!
The hotel staff were professional and friendly. Our dinner experience at the hotel restaurant was really nice, and the breakfast was pleasant and well serviced. The location near the park was really great for dog walks and relaxation, and the nearby restaurants offered some nice options.
Convenient location close to the train station and at walking distance from the lively heart of Dijon, with free private parking. Good breakfast buffet with variety and quality. Clean and quiet rooms. Courteous staff. Good value for money with all you may expect from a Ibis hotel.
This is a modern and chic hotel as compared to other hotels in France. They provide air conditioning in Oct when most hotels air con are not working now. This is very important bec the 3 days we were in Dijon, the weather was hot.
The rooms were large and comfortable, and close to all of the wonder sites in Dijon, the restaurants, shopping, and the festive Christmas markets. We also enjoyed the very attentive staff, and the on-site bar.
The location was amazing for this property. Easy access to the restaurants, museums, and shops. Walking around the neighborhood was lovely. The front staff at the hotel we wonderful.
Excellent location for travelling through France.
Super friendly staff at reception when we arrived.
Impressed with overall cleanliness.
Good continental breakfast.
close from autobahn, underground parking is directly next to hotel, smooth check-in even late in the evening, perfect for overnight stay on your way to or from South
Great location for breaking drive from south of France to UK. Friendly and supportive staff, small menu but excellent restaurant with great quality food and drink.
Spacious rooms, nice staff and a good location when driving from the top of France to the bottom or vice versa. We enjoy staying here while passing through Dijon.
