Friendly staff, excellent location, between train station and the old harbour. Hotel is a little dated but spotlesslyclean and well maintained.
Street parking available in front of the hotel, about 10 Euros a day.
Will happily stay again.
Ideally set in the historic La Rochelle, this 17th-century building overlooks the old harbor. Hôtel De La Monnaie is decorated by artworks and features a terrace and a wellness center.

Location is just a few steps from lots of wonderful restaurants- ask the hotel to recommend one. We were thrilled with the good info the concierge staff were able to share

Previously Aytré beach has been very vibrant- food truck, salsa dancing on a board walk on the beach, sound system, dance tuition. I chose to go in July just for this but there was nothing planned until August. The restaurants were closed and after travelling to other beaches the restaurants which were open were VERY VERY expensive. I don't feel that I would want to go back to Aytré unless they brought the beach activities forward into july again.

The beach at Aytré has snack wagons serving lovely king prawn, mayonnaise and butter bread platters. There is entertainment on every evening in July- African drums, salsa dancing, line dancing- all with an instructor. Bike hire and a train stop and parking make it ideal for access. Public toilet too. It was a heatwave when we went and the evenings were cooler so the place was full of people eager to breath and relax and listen to music. Dogs are allowed too. It is lovely. there is also a specialist oyster restaurant near by which was packed!
The hotel is located on a quiet one way rural road and is close to La Rochelle. Fabulous covered swimming in a fantastic garden setting. Breakfast is served in a delightful conservatory area. The whole experience was very relaxing. The room opened onto a terrace area with table, chairs and sun awning overlooking the lawn. The availability of a shared guest kitchen allowed us to shop in the local market, bringing back items to cook our own dinner. For anyone with particular dietary requirements this is a godsend.
I liked the size of the bed and the air-conditioning unit. The size of the car park was good, the hotel was quiet and no smoking allowed inside the building. Some breakfast items were nice and also plentiful.
So this place is crap all the way around. There were NO repeat NO staf on th epremises, impossible to contact anyone and a huge hassle to even get into the hotel. This goes onto my NEVER again list
