Free parking. Pleasant personel. Decent breakfast.
Located just across the lagoon from the Venetian islands, Mestre is the mainland part of Venice and has cheaper accommodations, with easy transport links to the historic center. However, the city has more than just cheap hotels going for it.
Host to several festivals throughout the year, huge Parco San Giuliano has fantastic views across the lagoon towards the Campanile and dome of St Mark’s Cathedral. Also worth a wander round is Forte Marghera, a former Austrian fortress on an island in the middle of star-shaped canals. One canal continues into the center of the city and is lined with restaurants and bars.
Pavement cafes can also be found in Piazza Ferretto, a triangular square with a 12th-century clock tower at one end and the Teatro Toniolo at the other. This popular spot for a passegiata also has a modern fountain and several boutiques. Also good for shopping in Mestre is the Le Barche center, a rather uninspiring building from the outside, but packed full of stores.
As for nightlife, Mestre has a number of clubs, including one at Tessera near to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Don’t fly out of there without having tried the little homemade cakes called "mignon".

Mestre is a small place, there’s no Uber app so you need to go with the public transport all the time. The locals don’t speak English, get a wifi connection at the center where is the train and bus station and search for bus number that will take you close to your hotel.
It’s a nice town as long you get used with the way in and out. You can arrive around 15 mins to Venice from the city center w/ bus number 2.

I stayed in Mestre as the base to travel to Venice. It was the best move. Avoid paying too much for the Venice hotels. Stay close to Mestre train station and you could be in Venice in 10 minutes. Enjoy the best of both worlds.

We only had a three night stay at the Hotel Delfino in Mestre
It is the perfect position for a value for money ,easy base to visit Venice from.
Unfortunately we did not have time to visit Mestre itself as our focus was always towards Venice.
Mestre is a very short journey by bus two and from the airport and stops outside the hotel which means your holiday can begin within the hour. Perfect. The supermarket was well stocked with anything you should need. With places to eat and regular buses to move around or by foot

Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative...
Mestre is close to Venice and a much cheaper alternative though you definitely miss out on the old, traditional feel of Venice (I had stayed in a hotel in Venice another time and it was wonderful there). If you eat in Mestre, it's much cheaper. We ate at 'Da Michele'. Excellent food, very good value for money. We did not have any time to explore Mestre per se, though.
Stayed for two nights on route to the Uk, so we could spend a day in Venice. Hotel staff friendly and welcoming. Centre of Mestre short walk to hotels and bars. We bought a travel card for 25euros each to use the tram or bus to Venice and also gives you access to the water buses and visited Murano Island too. Beware of the scammers at the bus station. Were offered help to buy our tickets and luckily we weren’t caught out. Same guy helped some Japanese tourists and distracted them and stole their card. Felt we had a luck escape.
We loved our stay in Meininger Venice. As a family of 6, the room we got was modern and spacious, the bathroom was clean and the facilities met our expectations. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet selection. The staff were also accommodating to our needs and queries. The location of the hotel is very strategic as it is just walking distance from Venezia Mestre train station and bus stop. There are also restaurants and shops nearby and the neighborhood feels safe.
When I was about to leave because the small room and the poor Wifi connection would not allow me to attend a Zoom meeting comfortably, the staff were very responsive and quickly upgraded me to a large room with better Wifi. The hotel appeared quite clean. I did not stay late enough to check out the breakfast. Very close to the Venice Mestre train station (could walk there with suitcases). The Best Western next door has a very nice restaurant.
We booked triple room and stay with my 2kids
The room was amazingly very large & clean.
The bathroom was very comfortable to use and very clean.
They even provides kids corner near lobby and the kitchen was very clean.
The hotel just in front of bus station that we can go to venice in one go.
The mestre station also can be reached im 10mins walk.
Maybe you can improve the heater temperature during the winter
The hotel was clean and cosy, we got everything we needed, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and provided us with all the necessary information about transportation to Venice and with a map of Mestre. They also let us use the toilet and to store our luggage in the hotel for the full day after we already checked out. It was a really nice experience and we definitely recommend it.
-new,bigger room, clean hotel outside Venezia, with more reasonable price.
(But it tooks around 30mins by bus to Venice, bus+water bus to San Marco is around 55mins)
-Bus station near the hotel just few mins walk.
-Lots of great restaurants around the hotel with really reasonable prices.
-It’s free & convenient to put our luggage at the lobby before check-in.
This was a surprisingly good stay. The staff was kind to us. The shared kitchen is functional and wasn't crowded. The room is rather spacious and not cluttered.
There is a bus close to the apartment that goes to Venice. The Mestre City centre is also not far.
The breakfast is outside of the hotel in an actual coffee shop.
LOCATION -- Train to Venice canals is a short walk from the hotel. Bus to airport is literally a 3 minute walk... so easy!
ROOM -- Spacious, comfortable & a beautiful corner balcony! Loved the air conditioning for sweltering evenings in Italy.
STAFF -- Very kind & easygoing.
Thank you for a great stay!
I liked the flexibility to leave my luggage after check-out and that it was a 5-minute walk from Mestre Train Station which was perfect to get to Venice and also to take the train to Florence. The airport bus also leaves you at the same train station. There are supermarkets and many restaurants nearby.
Very nice hotel, convenient location next to Mestre station and Venice. Clean room with comfortable bed. The only thing to improve would be to have a tea kettle in the room. It was very inconvenient to take the elevator from the 10th floor every time we needed hot water for a cup of tea.
I had business & leisure trip so i need to be near mestre. Hotel is in acceptable distance to Venice 15-20minby bus.
There is good price/quality
Very helpfull staff for roads, schedules, etc
I could make also an early check-in
So generally the hotel was very good for its price
The facilities felt very modern. It was the most modern looking hotel during our trip. Everything on the room was perfectly clean and the room was very spacious. The location was perfect, as the Mestre train station (used to go to Venice for example) was just a square away.
Exceptional staff, very helpful and ready to assist. Nice rooms, modern style, very clean. Breakfast buffet with plenty of choices. The hotel is a five minute walk to tram or bus to Venice, and right around the corner from downtown, pedestrian area of Mestre.
The location is good in Mestre and easy access the train or bus station to reach Venice. There are restaurants and mini markets around the hotel so that is a plus.
The hotel have a great common area with a lot of space and place to relax or just have a chat.
Location is great, only a few minutes to the Venice Mestre train station, so you can go to Venice by bus or train easily. Staff is very decent and helpful.
Bed is very comfortable and the room is clean.
A nice park is just in front of the hotel.
Breakfast was good! They had a good selection of items, including American dishes which was nice after several weeks in Italy.
Another plus was how easy it was to take transportation to Venice Main attractions.
Location was great. Walking distance from Venezia Mestre rail station which was super convenient. Loved the vibe of a & o and would definitely recommend younger travelers book here if you take a trip to Venice.
We were a party of four. We stayed three nights. EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE was AMAZING!!!
We're returning to Venice in three months... of course, we will stay at HOTEL PLAZA!!!
Great location for visitors to Venice, a short walk from Venezia Mestre train station. Beautiful bedroom, lovely new furniture, big, comfortably designed bathroom.
