Haka House Aoraki Mt Cook, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Located Among the Southern Alps, Haka House Aoraki Mt Cook features views of Mount Cook, and is 656 feet from Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Center.

An amazing hostel and location! It reminded me of the hostel in Liechtenstein - well cleaned and spacious for each person. Massive kitchen area with proper recycling bins. Absolutely loved the quiet area and access to the sauna was just amazing after the hikes! Great for stargazing too! The rooms had enough space for luggage storage and curtain to avoid disturbance. Haka house provided shower gels, shampoo and conditioner in all their bathrooms which was great!

Mount Cook Station Huts, hotel in Mount Cook Village

Located near Lake Tekapo in the Canterbury region, Mount Cook Station Huts provides accommodations with free WiFi. Guests can also relax in the garden.

A must stay location for Mt Cook! It is remote and away from all the crowd which makes it more peaceful and scenic. So much history at the location with a little museum on the property. It is run by a very kind and lovely family. I felt right at home and safe. Absolutely loved the walks around the property, the animals and watching the sunset and sunrise. I can't wait to come back and recommend it to others. Towels were provided and the bathroom was spacious. The outdoor area was great to eat, read a book or just watch the sunset.

We did a 19 day road trip around the lower North Island, and Mount Cook Village was my favourite place to stay. Id love to go back again some time. Sadly for us due to being delayed due to issues with the interislander we only got to stay here for one night. We took an amazing scenic flight and landed on the Tasman glacier. We had the perfect day for it. The smorgasbord restaurant at the Hermitage was fantastic, one of the better smorgasbord's Ive had. I would love to come back here some day and do some of the shorter walks around the area and just to experience this majestic place once more.

Being able to see the glacier from the top part of the village. Our fantastic day trip to Lake Tasman to get close to icebergs and and the glacier at one end of the lake. (not the glacier seen from the village).

The village is located in an amazing place. If are self catering while in the village you will need to bring your supplies with you. There is very limited grocery items for sale. There is a cafe and restaurant located in the Hermitage complex. The other dining places are closed.

There is limited accommodation at Mount Cook village and it is all expensive. There are many well marked and maintained paths from the road end which allow walks off between one hour and six hours to be safely undertaken. There are no shops or independent restaurants or food outlets, unless you are self catering, you will have to eat in the expensive hotels. The most economical way to visit would be by Campervan bringing all of your supplies with you The self catering options are limited to the motel, which is in my opinion, overpriced for the accommodation it offers.

I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around.

I did not like Mt Cook Village at all. Hard to get around. Nowhere to buy food or snacks and restaurant closed during the day. Inflated prices. I think our experience would have been much better but unfortunately the weather was dreadful and hence we had no views and were unable to do our planned walk. All in all it was a very disappointing experience.

Mt Cook is a remote location and this hotel is amongst the only ones there. We had booked a 2 bedroom villa - excellent views of the snow capped mountains, very friendly reception staff , easy to pick up keys even a little late, car parking in front of the villa. The house is well insulated , irrespective of the temperatures outside. Comfy beds, neat, clean , daily service provided . We didnt go to the restuarants so cant comment on those . The best was the jaccuzi -most relaxing after the trek.

incredible location right in the centre of mount cook village. there’s a very well equipped kitchen in the common dining room (people were cooking fish and mussels, BBQing steak on the patio, drinking wine from provided glasses). excellent view of mount cook from the dining room. rooms were clean and comfortable but rather basic and cramped for the price.

I really enjoyed the glacier explorer experience during my stay in the hotel. I booked a room with a view of Mt Cook which might not be the perfect view within this hotel. The breakfast exceeded my expectations and is so delicious. The service in the buffet is also amazing. I would definitely go back again to try other trips provided in the hotel next time.

With limited food available at Aoraki, the Lodge allows and promotes a self-catered stay. There was a microwave and small bar fridge in the room and then additional fridges, stoves and facilities in the common area. It's in the heart of the village, close to the information centre and shirt stroll to the Hermitage Edmond Hillary Centre.

The room was on the ground floor. The common kitchen and lounge was amazing with plenty of room for multiple people preparing and eating meals. The lounge faced Aoraki and when it was clear, the view was breathtaking. Being close to the trailheads deep in the valley was fantastic. The bathroom was cozy but had a wonderful shower.

Beds were very comfy. The mountain view from the room was not bad. The kitchen was thankfully well equipped as we had to whip up a few dinners because besides the main restaurant in the main hotel, there wasn't any restaurants around.

This is about as good as it gets for a YHA hostel. The interior of the hostel has a cool wilderness lodge vibe to it, the dorms are clean and comfortable, and the beds have curtains for privacy.
