Hiking in the yellow mountains was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to everyone. The views were breathtaking and something I'll never forget.
Bring a lot of layers of clothes as well as a hat and scarf as the weather changes quite a lot when hiking.
Also, the hiking is very easy as there's only stairs to be climbed.
You need to get up very early if you want to do the big route (i.e. the cayon included) - it pays off to use the cable cars if you want to see as much as possible.

To my knowledge, Huangshan City doesn't have a plethora of famous cultural sites to visit (unless, of course, they are in the mountains). A visit to Huangshan is great for hiking and scenic site seeing, but don't expect to see a show or eat super-incredibly Chinese cuisine during your stay. In our small neighborhood at the base of the mountain, things were relatively quiet, and the food options were almost all identical from one shop to the next. This was fine with my friend and I during our visit, because we were there to see the Yellow Mountains, and did not expect much else of our visit!

Lots of outdoor hiking opportunities! So pretty and green.
Lots of outdoor hiking opportunities! So pretty and green. Yellow mountain was quite busy with tourists and actually going early was busiest. We walked the whole mountain within 3 hours. The hot springs were closed due to no rain which was disappointing.

Huangshan Mountain has a beautiful natural landscape of...
Huangshan Mountain has a beautiful natural landscape of stone/rock formations, valleys, mountain ridges, pine trees, Xihai Grand Canyon etc. On clear sky days, you may be able to see sunrise and sunset if you stay a night or two at a hotel at the mountain top.
After cable car ride, there are only two modes of transport:
1) walking/trekking through concrete steps, paved and gravel roads to sightseeing spots/hotel/cable car. Some terrains are pretty steep especially those at Xihai Grand Canyon. Be prepared to walk 2-5 hours for Xihai Grand Canyon.
2) pay people to carry you on a sedan chair to your destination (charges apply according to your build, distance of your journey etc).

The mountain is very accessible with very frequent busses to the cable car stations. There are path with steps everywhere. The views are spectacular if the weather is good. The trek is worth it for the beautiful views.

The mountains and the views were stunning but avoid going there during national holidays. Too crowded. Spoiled the whole fun. Also the sea of clouds is not there everyday. Check it out before you plan to go
The owner of the hotel was definitely the best. This rating is just for him. He was very nice, always helpful, especially in crazy pandemic times. He drove us around, could tell interesting things about thr surroundings. And yes, he speaks English! 😊 There's a restaurant in the hotel with vegetarian options, too! The room itself was very basic - towels and room cleaning could be offered, but anyways we would probably stay the same place because the owner of this hotel made us feel like home! Thank you for that! 😍
The guesthouse is located on the foothills of Huangshan with two stunning local attractions a stone throw away ~ Emerald Valley and Nine Dragon Waterfall. Very convenient to get to the starting points of Huangshan itself and the bus station. The owner was very helpful , drove me to nearby places and offered a wealth of information. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. My stay was bliss. Everyone at this family run guesthouse was kind, friendly and always had a warm smile. Food was also great.
The host was extremely helpful. He arranged affordable transport from Huangshan North train station to the hotel (and back), made a plan for hiking the mountain with me, and helped with the many more questions I had. The hotel is only a short walk to the park entrance, so no need to take a cab in the morning. I booked 3 nights, but slept one day in a hotel on the mountain. That way, I could keep my luggage safe and worry-free, whilst climbing the mountain. I highly recommend staying here!
The place is close to the mountains, which we came there for, however it was extremely difficult to find the hotel even for our chineese friend, as the hotel hides behind faceless doors. Perhaps, if we were on our own, we wouldn't have found it, as there are no indications in English. The ladies at reception kidnly tried to serve us with a breakfast that would suit European children's taste, which was difficult to achieve however.
The best hotel during our trip - the staff help you of everything - location is perfect - the food is nice - I can only recommend. We order cars through the hotel, with a good price, and the staff explained to us how to climb the mountain. They offer umbrella, tee, and all the things you need. The room is good equipped, with electronic devices - berthing is perfect, we had a great times there
Pet friendly. The family in charge of the hotel was very kind, helpful and they speak fluent English. They arranged transportation to several touristic places in the area (Tunxi, Kangchen, Taiping Lake, Wuizhou, etc.). The breakfast was great and the location is fantastic, just a 10 minute walk to the Emerald Valley and a short distance to the hot springs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
What a great quick stay at this hotel! The hotel was nice, clean and the owners were very lovely to us and could speak english! THey helped us with planning our huangshan stay and gave us free car service to the town and back! They also provided a breakfast (chinese style of course) and they even made a quick dinner for us when we came in later. Highly recommend for a stay!
A very nice hotel with very good facilities and nice staff. The rooms are in a modern industrial design where I felt very comfortable. The biggest plus was that the owner was fluent in English and was able to transmit any information about transport and climbing the mountain. The prices for the overnight stay are absolutely fair. I would book it again at any time.
I feel very happy to stay in this place, the hotel is quite new and clean, comfy, I also like the location as it sits in a quiet street with only a few steps away the main busy street.
Especially I would recommend the owner family coz they have been very hospitable all through my trip time and I felt really enjoyable about all around of the stay here.
The property is located very close to Huangshan South Gates! The room is clean and nice! The price is reasonable! Owner of Hotel Mr Cheng is very nice person! He picked me up at the bus station and gave a good directions how to spend my day! I am satisfied with stay and happy about the great hospitality provided in this hotel
- The hotel is in the crowdy area of little village, which is near Huangshan park entrance
- good price for a good quality
- Hotel staff were very helpful in assisting me before my arrival, by informing me step by step
- they have slots for car parking
- they can register foreigners in this hotel, big plus!
Excellent location, the owner will drive you to any bus station as needed. He speaks good english. Restaurants available near, while it is a quiet area. Warm showers, heat, very clean bedding. Close to South gate entrance of the park. Tangko is a better place to stay than Huangshan City to visit the park
It's family hotel. It's small and cozy, the rooms are clean and well furnitured. The owner of the hotel speeks English very well and eager to help. I was really happy to stay in this location and I'll choose this hotel next time
Excellent value for money, perfect location (close walk to bus to take you up Huangshan), helpful friendly staff, chilled vibe, smoke free zone with low noise (both almost impossible to find in Chinese hotels, in my experience).
location is perfect, walking distance to 翡翠谷, 10mins driving to Huang Shan. Exceptional customer service. Food is clean and tasty, and this accomodation also offers Chinese tea. top floor room also has epic forest views!!!
Lovely family-run boutique hotel. Great for families. Staff was wonderful to us. Great Chinese food and amazing location right at the entrance to the mountain.
