The town of Stanley is quaint and lovely. The apartment was sparkling clean. The views were amazing. There are several decks and sliding glass doors to look out over the sea. Everything is within walking distance. We were able to walk to the sea to look for the penguins at night and see the wallabies on the streets after sunset. The hotel was enjoyable to sit and have a drink and converse with the people in the town.
Located in the heart of Stanley, Ellie’s Cottages are just 820 feet from beautiful Godfrey's Beach, and the local cafes, breakfast bars, restaurants and shops are all within 1640 feet away.

Nicely set up for tourists, with a wide range of accommodation options. A good base for exploring The Tarkine Drive (and some short walks along the route). Stanley has specially designed, red-lit platforms for admiring the little penguins coming ashore in the evenings. There is a nice, wind-swept walk around the top of the Nut, which hosts a colony of pademelon.

Penguin viewing, walking the town and enjoying a great coffee at Marley’s and excellent takeaway fish and chips from Hurseys. We arrived at 8 pm on Day 1. Spent Day 2 visiting the Tarkine area then walked around Stanley. Day 3 we enjoyed the Harvest Market - excellent for fresh produce, craft and music.

Accommodation was superb and pub was just across the road. If we had more time, it looks like a lovely little town to walk around.
Definitely take the chair lift instead of walking up the hill. Then you have the energy to walk around the top of The Nut.

Stanley is a beautiful town with lovely houses and places to eat, drink and shop. A trip on the chair lift to the top of The Nut was excellent. Icing on the cake was seeing the little blue o penguins come home after a days’ fishing.

We absolutely loved Stanley!
We absolutely loved Stanley! We enjoyed a beautiful breakfast at Marley's @ Sticks & Stones, Shells & Bones and then caught the chairlift up to the top of the Nut. We loved the sensational views from the summit and did the 45 minute walk around the top. We saw a couple of pademelons too.
At sunset, we went down to the beach to wait for the penguins to come in from the sea. We saw loads of them and they were so cute!
We also had a visit to Highfields House and enjoyed exploring all the rooms in the exquisitely restored mansion and reading up on all the history. There's lots to do in Stanley.
The cabin was so beautiful! It was very comfortable and the design was great! The only extra things that we would have liked would be ice in the freezer and a little outdoor coffee table in front of the deck chairs. We loved the location, private, quiet, away from town, gorgeous view of the inlet and wildlife everywhere. The bottle of wine and cheese, paste and crackers were a lovely treat - very much appreciated! Our two night stay was the perfect way to finish off our two week holiday in Northern Tasmania.
A decent sized apartment with comfortable furnishings. Nicely located for walking into town and up the 'Nut'. We only stayed for one night on our travels around Tasmania but the apartment seemed to have everything that we needed. Stanley itself is a quirky little town with some nice local artisan shops, and you have to try the adjacent 'Angels Share' if you're interested in trying Tasmania craft whisky's and gins, an impressive selection on offer and a knowledgeable owner.
This is a beautifully, and tastefully, restored cottage built in 1892. The owners have added special touches such as a feature wall in the outdoor area that has mood lighting at night for that special effect and an etched glass window with the name of the cottage the year it was built on it. The view from the front window is spectacular and "The Nut" is right behind the home. This was probably the nicest place we stayed in during our Tasmanian holiday.
We loved everything about the Inlet! We stayed in the Oystercatcher and it was incredibly well thought out with amazing attention to detail, and included everything that we needed to make it a very comfortable stay. We really appreciated the complimentary bottle of wine and cheese too - what a lovely gesture and great way to enjoy the view. We would have definitely stayed longer as it's in a great spot to explore Stanley and the north-west.
A pleasant, older-style room in a historic hotel, tastefully finished and furnished. The location is perfect; it’s an easy walk to everything Stanley has to offer. A very good dinner in the dining room and the bar is nice enough. The wine cellar is amazing, perhaps more so for it being a proper old-style below ground bunker than its contents (they were fine, by the way, but not as special as the cellar itself).
The room was very beautifully presented, and spacious, with a clean ensuite. Location was very good as it was walking distance to features of the town, including the hotel for an evening meal. However it is highly recommended that a booking is made, preferably 24 hours ahead, for a meal, as it is popular and one of only two or three places in town to get an evening meal. The food was excellent.
It was so tastefully appointed whilst still maintaining the original character and history of the property. Everything seemed to be considered for travelers to give the most memorable experience of Stanley (luxury lounge area, beautiful garden under the nut!) whilst also providing practical facilities (Laundry, Gym, bikes)
Very nice house with full facilities where I can cook my dinner. Location is close to Godfrey’s beach. The house is clean and big enough for 2 people. There are living room and bed room in Abbey on church. Wifi also worked well here. I had to take key at Stanley hotel and drive a little bit to Abbey on church.
The rooms are total luxury. Everything is of the highest quality, the furnishings, bedding, etc., great location too being right off the gorgeous Main Street of Stanley. The continental breakfast was simple. Cereal, toast with homemade jams & stewed fruit, yoghurt etc., but plentiful.
The location is stunning, with incredible views over Stanley and The Nut. The room was very clean and breakfast provisions were great. We stayed in Cowrie, and it had everything we needed. We loved our stay at Horizon and look forward to returning.
After hours check in was a huge bonus to this stay. Staff were lovely and the room was spacious and comfortable. The spa bath was incredible and perfect after a long drive. The sun rise view was the best I've seen in Tasmania.
Catherine and Jeremy were great. Lovely bed, spotlessly clean apartment. Nice water view from our apartment.
I walked to the top of The Nutt twice. Close by. Stanley main street has some good shops, mainly cafes.
Gardenia House is a gorgeous gem of a Victorian villa with lots of original features. It has beautiful views to the beach and is located in an excellent part of Stanley close to the beach and restaurants.
Stanley is a great place to visit and this property (the HALF HOUSE as we were provided) would be a great place for TWO people to stay.
The property is only a short walk from most of Stanley.
Convenient location close to shops and nearby restaurants. Clean, cosy and hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Loved the home made breakfast that was provided.
