Mittagong is a lovely little town. Interesting shops and cafes, including a very well set out Vinnies with quality stock and very friendly staff.
Pharmacy staff were also extremely knowledgable and helpful. Everyone we spoke to was very friendly.
It is a pretty town and has some interesting old buildings. I wish we had had more time to explore the area. Very pretty in autumn colours

A green oasis, we use Mittagong when driving Sydney to Melbourne for the first night - just to break that painful drive escaping Sydney havoc on the roads so we can then just dive down to Melbourne easily the next morning. In reverse, when driving TO Sydney from Melbourne, we drive all day ex Melb, and stop the evening in Mittagong so we can get into Sydney early in the morning.
This suits us.

Loved the time there and will go back for more.
Loved the time there and will go back for more. Not enough time to see all I wanted to. Only managed a couple of walks, some shopping and some lookouts but everything was great. Dined at the RSL Mittagong Ironstone restaurant and everything was fabulous there. Lunched in a cafe in Bowral. It was nice food but overpriced for a small bowl of soup and bread.

Mittagong isn’t as trendy as Bowral, nor as expensive.
Mittagong isn’t as trendy as Bowral, nor as expensive. Information Bureau is very good. Has Woolworths and Aldi, Maccas and a few cafes in and around the town. Mainly suburban area, but a good lake with parking and picnic facilities off the Main Street. Good train service to Campbelltown then to Sydney.
Has excellent accommodation, not as pricey as neighbouring Bowral.
Mittagong would be a good base to have if you want to tour around the rest of the Southern Highlands

The train station is only several minutes walk to the Highlands Hotel and several others, plus, if you liie Filtered water, there is a dispenser in the Anglican church greounds (opp the Hotel) and also at the Information Center.
I realize this must be very pretty in the Fall (Autumn) with the colors of the trees and the leaves at this elevation, Springtime was very beautiful with all the bulb type plants etc. Definetly a nice little town plus others nearby you can drive to. And the waterfalls like Fitzroy etc. Oh, and Lake Victoria, just 7' walk freom Highlands Hotel (strait down from Station Street/train station.

This B&B was a delightful surprise - Mel and Jerry were friendly, helpful and excellent hosts - the room was amazing, the breakfasts were scrumptious in a setting beside an open fire place to keep us warm.
The property is located in a forest in the hills over-looking Mittagong and the nearest restaurants are in Bowral - but with forward planning, this was not an issue.
By far, the best accomodation we enjoyed on our nearly month-long meander from the Gold Coast to Canberra and return.
Great location. A short walk to Mittagong town. Immaculately clean. Comfortable bed. Loved the gas fireplace and reading next to it after a long day. The original decor makes this cute cottage an adorable place to stay when one needs an escape from the hustle and bustle. Rod and Kath were wonderful hosts and left treats and a handwritten note, which was welcoming and a lovely touch. Highly recommend!
A lovely spacious one bedroom apartment that suited our family with two young children. It is a beautiful building and had a lovely balcony. Right in the middle of Mittagong, was perfect for what we needed. Great communication from the hosts. You can tell the hosts take pride in providing a comfortable stay. Thank you very much to the hosts, I thoroughly recommend this stay
Lovely location and the history of the place was a great feature. It was hard to initially find our room but it was comfortable. As an old guest house, it was a fun place to stay, with lots of parking and lovely gardens. If one is looking for a modern and plush hotel, this is not the place but we enjoyed the old style of the house and found the room extremely comfortable.
The bed was comfortable, there was a microwave and crockery - other reviews mentioned that there was no microwave. The room was a decent size and was quite clean. The shower had good pressure and a lot of hot water. It was in a good location from town. Staff were friendly.
As we have a van and enclosed trailer, the parking is exceptional. There is a big parking lot at the Springs as well at the RSL club next door. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful. The RSL club next door as a very good bistro and all meals.
The family room was very clean, nicely appointed and very quiet. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The location is excellent for a stay in Mittagong. The family room was very good for our family of four. The room rate was very good value.
The location is excellent, right in the heart of Mittagong and a short 5 minute drive to Bowral. The room was a good size and well equipped and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. Wifi was very good.
The location suited us well - just out of Mittagong, with a pleasant view over countryside, rather than a motel in town. The room was pleasant, spacious enough and the bed was comfortable. The cost was reasonable.
The bed was very comfortable. Mattress was nice and firm. Plenty of hot water with excellent water pressure! Only a 10 minute walk into the main street of Mittagong for breakfast.
It was a perfect location close to Mittagong, walking distance. The cottage was so comfortable and lovely decor. Cannot fault this amazing accommodation.
