Lovely town in the central west and probably the best kept/most loved by the local council. Lots of activities and experiences to engage with. The Italian Restaurant was excellent and Rebecca the owner/host made it even moreso.

Accommodation is very expensive.
Accommodation is very expensive. The ACCC needs to investigate this area as it is destroying the ability of people to travel the Australian outback. Plan your stay so you stay in surrounding towns as you'll save on accom charges and food is cheaper which will pay for the extra fuel for traveling. Also Qld roads need to be made safer - no shoulders for caravans or cars to pull over the road side. I pity anyone who gets a flat tire on driver side.

Longreach is a small town, but suitable for a visit in particular for History. The Outback Pioneers have a Hotel/shop in town with a restaurant which is worth a visit. They also do stage coach rides for holidaymakers. Outback Pioneers also have access to the river close by, and do nightly sunset cruises up and down the river. Excellent opportunity to here some historical tales and enjoy a lovely night under the starts listening to them.
The town itself, has a number of really excellent restaurants and coffee shops, plus bars and the like. I enjoyed my time there, and you must not forget the Qantas Museum, (where it all began for them), all worth a visit.

A must do for all travellers.
A must do for all travellers. There are so many attractions for an outback town. Towns folk are very hospitable, making you feel very welcome. Attractions were'nt costly. The Outback Hall of Fame and QANTAS Founders Museum was absolutely amazing and worth the money, expecially if you decide to do the wing walk on the 707 and 747. The Cobb & Co. Stage Coach Experience and dinner/cruise on the Thomson River was also a must to do and our time went extremely quick. We would recommend you book well in advance because all attractions are extremely popular and you certainly wouldn't want to miss out on these exceptional experiences. Thank you Longreach you did'nt disappoint at all and we would love to return.

Longreach reminded me of theme parks where no one actually lives there so no one cares. They are only there for the money! Lots of tourists lining up for the next attraction and everyone out for all they can get.
We did eat often at Davey's Diner which had good food and nice staff. The major attractions need to invest more in the community so that the town as a whole, prospers from these enterprises.
The lady on check in was pleasant, efficient and welcoming.
On check out, the reception staff couldn't even say "thank you".
I thought I had booked a room in the "Stables" across the street, but obviously not.
Website photos of the accommodation, were confusing and misleading.
Did not realise that there were in fact two different types of accommodation.
Appreciated being picked up from the airport on arrival.
With one taxi in town and no other form of public transport, this could be a very difficult issue.
The tents were amazing and you could tell that no money had been spared when they designed and fitted out the retreat. The owners and their son were lovely people and they provide an excellent stand of service. Even though I use to be a local, my partner who originally come from NZ has fallen in love with the outback after this experience and I think the glamping experience at Mitchell Grass Retreat definitely contributed to his high opinion of Longreach and outback Australia. Thank you!!
Good location because it was close to the main centre (IGA etc)and not far to the the main Longreach attractions. The unit itself was very well appointed as it had a large walk-in robe for our bags and hanging space plus there was a large cupboard in the bathroom to keep our toiletries in. We liked having a kitchen with a table and two chairs to eat breakfast and takeaway dinners. Our car park was very close to our unit. It was handy having a shared laundry in the complex.
Very handy location for Qantas Founders Museum and the airport. Saltbush was very good value. I travelled alone this time and their basic room suited me well- would also have been fine for a family with 2 children. When I return with friends or family I'll stay here again in one of the more expensive rooms that look really special.
Hot water in the shower was great. Free airport transfer was useful with my bags.
Overpriced repurposed mine site accomodation.
You need to go to a different hotel to get key.
Rooms are empty with community toilets/showers.
Kitchen has no utensils (teaspoons etc)
For the price ($180 for 1 night) could just about stay at a resort but instead practically staying in transportable cabins on some dirt.
Longreach Motor Inn is an excellent place to stay. The motel and the rooms are exceptionally clean and very spacious. The location is great, showers hot and nice, plenty of covered parking, and Harry's Bar/Restaurant upstairs is terrific. One of the nicest motels we've stayed in on our road trips. Highly recommend.
Close to the station- we could see the hotel as we got off the train. Very comfy bed - somewhat dated decor but spacious and well equipped- tea and coffee available and toaster, fridge and kettle. Good restaurant for dinner on site.
We travelled with our dog. The room was great, spacious and excellent value for money. They made it easy for us at pre check in. Longreach is a great place to visit. The best accommodation on our trip from Darwin to Brisbane.
The room is decorated with taste, it was a great surprise when we came in. It's also very clean and the staff is nice.
We loved Longreach even if we were not here during the high season.
