The location was very good, far enough from the main town center to be away from noise, but close enough to walk to the shops and beach. The resort itself was good but rather old and not maintained to a level any higher than necessary. Room preparation was not good enough with several things not working properly.
Gecko Lodge Kalbarri is a romantic, adults only bed and breakfast positioned just 5 minutes’ walk from the pristine coastline and Murchison River.

The hosts (Sha and her husband) were so welcoming on our arrival, explained in detail all the facilities available to us, where to shop and all the local sights of interest - including where to spot the kangaroos and emu.
They couldn't be more helpful if they tried, nothing is ever too much trouble.
The accommodation was spotless, bottled water supplied daily, continental breakfast superb. Whilst we were here the temperature was averaging 43 degrees so when we went to the National Park for 6am,our breakfast was placed in the fridge for our return.
BBQ available to use, which we did twice.
Beautiful patio and pool area.
Would highly recommend and if we lived closer we would definitely return.

Cabin was extremely clean. Accessibility was great - I had my daughter in a wheelchair. View from deck was lovely. We didn't really have much time to check out the amenities but everything looked very neat and tidy. I loved the recycling stations

Kalbarri is a great place to relax, swim in the river or ocean and explore breathtaking coastal and inland rock formations and gorges. Fantastic walks and longer hikes for those so inclined. Awesome tourist facilities in the National Parks - the Skywalk is an amazing piece of engineering and a must do experience. Great fishing, surfing and snorkeling. Beautiful clean, safe swimming beaches. Brilliant Indian Ocean sunsets. Great variety of playgrounds and park areas for the kids. Plenty of choice for eating out and a bit of night life. Good accommodation options. The local supermarket provides most of what you need if eating at home.
Get the Aussie inland gorge and coastal beach experience all rolled into one!
*Note to those travelers not experienced with Australian outback conditions: Kalbarri can get pretty hot and the flies can be annoying at certain times of the year (so pack fly nets), but if you come prepared and do a little homework prior you will have a great experience. Overall one of our favorite places in WA.

Another beautiful part of our amazing state!
Another beautiful part of our amazing state!
Nature's window was as lovely as when I visited 17 years ago. The Skywalk is a fabulous addition, especially for visitors with some disabilities. I work in the health sector and am constantly looking out for places with access. What little we experiences augers well. Please keep this up.
Sunset at Meanara Hill was just stunning. Rainbow Valley and Mushroom Walk were relaxing and wonderful.
Thank you for the wonderful memories, Kalbarri!

Stunning location.
Stunning location. Kalbarri is located at the mouth of the Murchinson river with turquoise water and great facilities. Finlay’s brewery and restaurant was recommended by our host Jess and was excellent and atmospheric. Great selection of beers and excellent food. Lots to see and enjoy. The Kalbarri NP had an amazing skywalk looking out over a spectacular gorge. Sadly the river cruise was not operating.

Beautiful beaches with choice of ocean or river dips in the water. Wilder waves also available for surfers. The one grocery store carries fair but limited goods - you can't be too fussy but basics are available. If you have special requirements - bring it with you! Pubs and eateries are OK, Kalbarri is on the mend from the cyclone in 2021. The national park, pelican feeding, sunset cruise, boat hire and fishing trips will keep you busy for a few days and it's perfect for relaxation and that 'wait awhile' WA feeling! And the sunsets are next to none...

Kalbarri is most certainly worth a stay. The coastline is breathtakingly beautiful, with some lovely beaches, it offers great hiking opportunities, just make sure you choose the right time of the year for that. It can be very hot! Some nice restaurants to enjoy fresh caught fish.

Best little town, great food, friendly people, reasonably priced. Everything is close by so didn’t have to take the car out of parking. Hiring a little boat to go through the Murchison was great. Every place we went for food was amazing, big portions, good prices, fresh food. What else would you want? The bakery is better than anything I found in bigger towns. Buddha Bites restaurant was amazing and the pork bites to die for. Gilgai Tavern was so friendly and accomodating, the barramundi was so fresh and the steak cooked to perfection.
Absolutely stunning property. The suites are huge - beautifully furnished and equipped. Jess and Jeff are the nicest hosts - extremely friendly and very helpful and informative. The accommodation is private and peaceful - we loved the evenings spent star gazing with a glass of wine! There is so much eclectic and quirky artwork to explore around the gardens too. We highly recommend River Retreats Kalbarri and can't wait to return. Thank you Jess and Jeff for a splendid stay!
The location is beautiful. Nice quite resort with pool & bbq facilities. Exceptional value for money and spotless. Welcomed with a lovely lady on reception and was very helpful with our visit to kalbarri national park.
We only stayed 1 night really wish we stayed longer as we loved our short visit. Will stay longer when we come over again from England.
Location, ease of check in, cleanliness. It delivered what it is expected to deliver. It compared to most of the accomodation we experienced whilst in Australia. Kalbarri isn’t a huge place so good clean accommodation is a bonus to find. Excellent room rate. The rooms are constructed by brick, which I liked, and also the room was very spacious.
Location excellent parking car outside door of accomodation. beds comfey. contactless entry good. close to shops and cafes. easy to find the hotel it is on the main road in. Missed the pelicans being fed due to needing to leave earlie the two mornings we were there. Missed no pool at facilities which I got mixed up thinking there was one
Claire’s place is in a great location; close to river, IGA, Gorge’s cafe, jetty.
Place was clean and well equipped, had everything we needed during our stay. We had dinner out every night, but kitchen had everything you needed to cook.
Would definitely stay again when back in Kalbarri :)
A great place to stay some nights. Sha is a lovely person who does everything for her guests. Fresh fruit and homemade bread for breakfast and homemade cake for teatime. Very comfortable beds. The place to stay in Kalbarri. I will come back in the future.
It's a hidden gem!!! The host Leticia and Randal are lovely and really helpful! The property just like brand new. Also you have your back yard with a swim poor provide. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely come back next time to Kalbarri!
Spotlessly clean well maintained property. Very clever & spacious design. Kitchen has all that you need to cook a meal. Large new fridge. Your own bbq & pool. Parking for 2 cars under carport. Excellent place to stay in Kalbarri
The accommodation was excellent, the position was great , just a short walk to the beach.
The view from the cabin when the sun was going down excellent.
Would recommend to anyone this is the place to stay in Kalbarri.
The views were spectacular! And the seemingly resident kangaroo was a treat.
The property was extremely light and airy and beautifully maintained.
Would love to stay again If ever we are lucky enough to visit kalbarri
The room was clean and comfortable. The mini kitchen was handy. The shower had good temperature and volume. Located in town. Close to Kalbarri National park. Restaurant was convenient and food was good
