So much in such a small town - not really any restaurants around, but the POW exhbition, the art gallery and the Japanese gardens were absolutely fantastic. We also travelled further afield to do some hiking in Conimbla National Park (27 minute drive from Cowra) and Canabolas State Forest (an hour away from Cowra).

Monday is not a good night if you plan on eating out.
Monday is not a good night if you plan on eating out. A couple of pubs were closed although local info had them as open. The pub we ate at was rundown to say the least. On a positive note the Japanese gardens the Cowra sculpture precinct and the Cowra Prison of War camp were extremely well done and well worth the time. There was some art on old tanks above town also.

Cowra was meant to be an overnight stop on the way home from regional Victoria. However when reading what Cowra offered I would have liked to extend my stay, but that was nor possible due to personal commitments.
I did delay my departure by about 4 hours and visited some of the highlights the town has to offer.
Cowra is on my list of places to revisit next year.

Cowra is a quiet town, central and really has everything you need for a short stay. We loved the history, Japanese Gardens, excellent food, blossoms which were literally blowing across the street, the glorious gold of the canola which was in full bloom. We managed a side trip to the Age of Fishes Museum which is in Canowindra which is world class and Iandra Castle in Greenthorpe. All terrrifc. A pleasant restful stay with plenty of interesting things to do at a measured pace.

For the Japanese, it is a place of historical importance. I was very happy to hear the Mayor of Cowra say, "We want to move forward into the future. It is also a place where you can experience the generosity and warmth of the Australian people.

We visited the Japanese Memorial Gardens.
We visited the Japanese Memorial Gardens. Definitely well worth a visit. The gardens were beautiful. Cafe on site for lunch or just coffee & cake at reasonable prices. Entry cost to the gardens $15 concession or $20 adults but worth the price. Also a gift shop.
Absolutely beautiful outlook, 360 degree views over the surrounding fields and hills. Owner was so friendly, welcoming and chatty and told us all about the area, good walks to go on and the ideal way to see all the sights which we followed. The paddock in front had a big flock of sheep with mums and lambs, and two alpacas guarding them. Went on a walk and spotted kangaroos as well.
Room was large and beds were comfortable, had everything we needed. I would come back to Cowra just to stay there again! Such a lovely spot, unbeatable views.
Beautiful location only a few minutes from Cowra central. Quiet and lovely location with amazing views from the room with each sunrise. The room is large and really well setup with ample room inside and out including chairs and tables outside to take in the sunrise and sunset. The grounds are also well maintained and really nice.
The location, size of the rooms, ease of checking in and as well as receiving certain recommendations. All facilities are perfect for a work trip away for a night. Also a great initiative to receive a Cowra Bowling Club membership which can be given to you at the check-in counter. I'll certainly be back
Exceptionally appointed cottage. There was nothing lacking. First class kitchen facilities tempted us to stay in and cook our own meal one evening. We will certainly want to stay at Cowra Cottage next time we visit Cowra. We will recommend it to our family and friends.
We stayed 2 nights in a family room. It was very comfortable and large, which after 35 days on the road we found great to stretch out. The kitchenette was well equipped with a kettle, toaster and microwave. Close to all the attractions Cowra has to offer.
We stay at Cowra Crest every time we are in town. The beds are comfortable; a well-stocked kitchenette; it is a quiet motel (no road noise) and nice and climate controlled during the cooler months. The staff are amazing, they make you feel like family.
Centrally located hotel, handy to eateries etc. Pleasant host. Nice and quiet. Older place, but maintained very well. A credit to the owner, Great shower and nice big TV. Good to have facilities to make my own breakfast.
Highly recommended.
The hotel room was very clean and spacious. I was pleasantly surprised to see a microwave in the room which allows for options. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is great, quiet but still close to restaurants.
Needed somewhere to stay as we were attending the Canowindra Balloon Glow, and all the accommodation in Canowindra was already booked out. Headed to Cowra and the Country Gardens Motor Inn. Suited our needs and enjoyed our stay.
Excellent location in Cowra. Room was spacious with good facilities. Rooms that open to the inner courtyard and pool are definitely better than the rooms at the end of the hotel which open to a corridor only.
The room was quite sizeable and clean. Quiet street and very lovely hotel staff. Loved being able to park right outside my hotel door. Very good location with lots of shops and cafe's close by.
Nice and tidy property - very clean. Staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. Only a 15 minute walk to the main street of Cowra, pubs and restaurants. Nice and quiet.
