We visited the Siding Springs Observatory , Warrumbungle Nation Park , Also Pilliga Pottery , Just a few of the places to see , Lots of other drives you can do out of town, We had meals at Bowling Club & Imperial hotel .

Now, we were there for work, and I managed to get sick, so I missed out on a few attractions, but Coona seems like a nice, friendly town. My family managed to get to see one of the observatories, and see some of the planets in real life, including Saturn's rings, so they were absolutely stoked. Apparently a new telescope will be operating there soon, with even better views.

Good sized town with lots of accommodation options. Good supermarket in town and options for fuel. Excellent bakery and other food options right in town. Great base for visits to the Warrumbungle NP and the Pilliga Scrub NP. A Dark Sky town with information easily obtained. Felt comfortable walking around town after business hours.

The Motel manager was very helpful in providing directions, maps and information of the town and the region. The room was generous in size, very clean, quiet, with basic amenities provided. Very comfortable bed [best we had on our travels through NSW] . Short walk to town, cafes, service stations and shops.

Although there are not many restaurants in town they are all an easy walk from the hotel and local food was very good. There is a large Woolworths shop within 500 meters from the hotel and the National Park is an easy drive away.
