We had booked another venue and a couple of weeks before it was discovered we were double booked and Girraween Country Inn was offered to us as we specifically wanted to attend the Apple and Grape festival. which we had done over the previous forty years. We had never stayed in the area before so wanted to spend some time exploring the areas we had previously just driven through.
We were unsure where the property was situated so took our time to find it. The directions were excellent as we arrived early afternoon.
There were also others staying at the accommodation who attended the festival so we were able to share experiences.
Our hosts Doug and Sherree did their utmost to look after us and we thank them for this.

Ballandean is a very small town situated 15 minutes south of Stanthorpe. It has a chemist, bakery, general store with fuel and a tavern. Several wineries are close to this location. It is a short drive to nsw.

The location was remote & very quiet.
The location was remote & very quiet. The road in was a bit rough.
The cottage was drafty but warm with the fire & air con going.
All facilities worked well & the beds were very comfortable.
Ballandean did not have anywhere to eat & Stanthorp only had one pub available on a Monday night. Couldn't find a restaurant open.
Unfortunately, our car broke down & it was impossible to hire a car within 100km of Ballandean.

We visited 6 wineries and enjoyed everyone for service and quality. Enjoyed Symphony Hill wines, Aventine Vineyard and Just Red Wines (all excellent). Had a great time at balancing heart (pizzas music) and host at giraween estate wines was fun. Wineries were close to James Farmhouse. We had lunch at Ballandean tavern and pizzas at Balancing Heart estate. Food was good.
Would have liked to stay a little longer and enjoy discovering more of countryside.
Family had a ball enjoying farmhouse facilities and Ballandean.

Ballandean is a small village with a pub for a quick meal.
Ballandean is a small village with a pub for a quick meal. There is a very nice soaperie in the village which sells some beautiful aromatic soaps and handwashes. The surrounding countryside is picturesque and there are plenty of wineries in this district. The town of Stanthorpe is close byas is the Washpool Range with bushwalking tracks.
I would recommend the nearby University of Queensland Food and Wine School for a lunch meal. The food was excellent.

Wonderful place with lots of opportunity for wine and walking! It's great to be out in the fresh air and to connect with friendly, country folk - they really make the place! And the food tastes best in the country! Plenty to look at and explore.
Beautiful, quiet location overlooking the vineyards. Had a fantastic girls weekend away. Great sized, clean chalet. Provided everything you could possibly need. Very thoughtful in all the details like setting up the fireplace, free water bottles and supplying a free bottle of Red wine to the room. Highly recommend this place! Very special spot to explore Ballandean. Close to Girraween national park if you are into hiking and great restaurants close by. No complaints at all.
Cosy, comfy cottage - simple and clean, with everything needed to relax and nicely private. Great hosts, with sweet touches - like a port and chocolates on arrival, free plentiful chopped firewood. Great lookout over the property and over a dam. Some lovely walks on the property itself, which was great after a lunch up at Ballandean Estate!...and next door is Granite Ridge Winery - a short walk away. Great base for Girraween National Park.
A handsome, well-maintained property nestled in a quiet, scenic bush and granite environment. Terrific breakfast (included) and a great dinner menu in the cosy dining area with fireplace, perfect for a winter getaway. Close to all the Ballandean wineries. Comfy bed, great shower, generous complimentary fruit and snacks available. Highly recommend this accommodation.
Plenty of wood was provided for the oven to make a cosy fire for the living room in winter. Carol, our host, was very helpful and the lovely, warm sunny terrace was beautiful on the crisp wintery mornings. Conveniently located for the local Ballandean wineries and only 10 minutes drive to Girraween National Park. Overall a comfy and well equipped cottage.
spacious for two couples, close proximity to Ballandean and wineries.
Well suited for all seasons but fantastic fire place with plenty of wood and kindling.
A very big thank you to Noelene the hostess with the mostess. Great communication and genuine in wanting to assist us to enjoy our weekend with great tips on the local area.

Shelley and Doug at the perfect hosts, I can warmly recommend this hotel, and I will definitely come back!
it had everything we needed in the kitchen ,reverse cycle air conditioning and a very good log fire to stay warm also a heated blanket .the location was walking distance to Ballandean village good parking was right in front of entrance .When the sun shines on the rooftop the whole living area lights up with colours
The location is awesome for those wanting a quiet getaway close to the Granite Belts' best wineries (Ballandean, Golden Grove, Tobin, Bangawarra, Bents Road and many more, all 5 - 10 minutes away). The host Noeleen, was lovely and really cared about her property which showed in the facilities provided.
Convenient Ballandean location for easy Girraween access. A somewhat unusual setup of semi-outdoor kitchen, dining and fireplace still worked wery well for us during cool autumn nights (but wouldn't be so sure about winter time). Property is very well maintained.
Great location for visiting the Ballandean situated wineries. Also close to Giraween National Park. The cottage was more than enough space for a couple and was very well appointed. Beautiful sunsets of an afternoon. Would definitely stay again.
It was located in a beautiful winery, was well presented and had excellent facilities. The fire place and spa bath was my highlight. Freshly baked bread given with a fridge and pantry stocked for a yummy breakfast.
Location in Ballandean was absolutely perfect. Close to wineries and local convenience store.
Good distance from other cottages at the facility. Excellent communication from Hosts
