Nice pleasant hotel, if not inspiring or beautiful. The rooms are a bit dated and basic. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly. Location is nice -- right on the beach, and convenient to everything in Hokitika.

Shining Star is a lovely accommodation with a view of the ocean. We stayed with another couple in the unit next to us sharing a deck. The units are clean and cozy with a rustic vibe- had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We did laundry, which was a short walk away.
