We went specifically to visit the Gardens. These are so magnificent I would hate to think people could miss them. Having been told it would take us many hours, we were surprised that we were through leisurely in about 2 1/2 hours. We were lucky enough to be there for Balloons over Hamilton - great spectacle, and 2 perfect days!!

When we first arrived, we need to refuel the car.
When we first arrived, we need to refuel the car. We went to the nearest petrol station and wondered why the pump wasn’t working. We had to prepay for our fuel. No signage to advise that and where we come from this isn’t the norm so we were confused and it was not a good first impression of Hamilton. We only stayed there as it is close to Waitomo Caves, but now that we have been, we would not choose to stay there again.

A few bright spots but the only reason I stayed there was to go to Auckland airport the next day. Bus to airport from Hamilton worked well. Otherwise it is not a destination place to me. Loved Cream Eatery for breakfast though!

Absolutely loved the gardens which were such a good showcase of Hamilton. Unfortunately, Hamilton like a number of other large NZ cities, seemed to have gone downhill despite a lot of new builds and there is quite a bit of degradation, rubbish, abandoned trollies and somewhat unstable people lurking about which make the place look less pleasant and feels unsafe.

Hamilton has a lot to offer with its beautiful gardens, river walks and childrens parks. Restaurants and cafes are abundant. Victoria Street is the best place to stay if you have to travel by bus. Everything is at your fingertips. The VR Hotel offers retro style ambiance and is located perfectly for family or business trips.

We spent no time in the city centre, but the zoo was good - well stocked with a range of well designed and maintained enclosures. The gardens were huge and well maintained though it needed a bit longer to fully appreciate.
We had the best burgers for a very long time locally, at Winner Winner".
The staff here are absolutely wonderful. Every single member of staff I encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. They must have a great company ethos as each staff member was lovely and genuine. The room was immaculate and cosy. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting Hamilton. Definitely recommend paying for the car valet if you have a vehicle as makes life so much easier. What a lovely hotel in Hamilton.
Location was awesome, room was HUGE!!! Fantastic Victorian Rooms, easy access in out at night. Some cool restaurants within short walking distance and close to river walk and museum. Even though you kinda expect to pay for parking, once parked, Hamilton was at your feet.....literally.
The location of the property was excellent for providing a central location to move about the city. The rooms that we had available for our stay were very attractive. We enjoyed talking with our hosts. A brilliant suggestion for an activity was a visit to Hamilton Gardens.
Facility is exceptionally clean. They don't accomodate Emergency housing so this is a plus. Location is on Ulster street and across the road is Emergency housing hotels so best not to walk into town but catch a taxi/uber. Staff/people very friendly.
We liked everything . We dont have anything that we dislike . Everything exceeded our expectation . Weve been in alot of hotels in hamilton and this is the best so far . From staff ,rooms buffet and breakfast. What else can i say . Was perfect .

Quiet street about 6 km from Hamilton Central. Gracious hosts and scrupiously clean facilities.
The vinyl records and player are a lovely quirky touch.
Off street parking right beside our ensuite room.
Very quite, clean & comfortable hotel central to the city & nearby restaurants.
The continental breakfast was a bonus we weren’t expecting & it was very nice. Friendly staff & would highly recommend.
Absolutely love the bed!!! so comfortable!!!! and the pillows make it even more easy to fall asleep. Location of the hotel is perfect! So many options to eat out RIGHT THERE outside the hotel doors!.
Rebecca was very responsive on extremely short notice. Our guys travelled for work and were stuck in Hamilton at night but Rebecca had availability and answered straight away when we called.
Central to the event we were in Hamilton for. Lots of food places to choose from. Sky City Casino across the road. Dairy just doors down for those last minute necessity purchases.
