So underrated, I would wholly recommend Ardara to anyone looking for friendly, kind locals in Donegal. It’s a quiet town in the middle of the west coast, perfect as a base for exploring Co. Donegal. Nancy’s Pub is great in the evenings; Sliabgh Liag Distillery is a must-visit and Eddie Doherty is a local celebrity with his weaving skills! Reasonably priced Donegal tweed products - much more affordable than the other shop in town. The Courthouse (in the Heritage Center) also does delicious breakfasts and baked goods. The only thing I’d be wary of is walking along the road - the drivers speed regardless of the time of day.

Easy to get around.
Easy to get around. Parking in free car parks or on the street.
Good base for touring Donegal.
Main hotel Nesbitt Arms are taking in Ukrainian refugees so will be closed to tourist accommodation.
The Corner House & other pubs are lively on a weekend night, so it can be noisy on the streets after hours.
Mostly good pub food available - very few restaurants.
Absolutely loved this little apartment in the centre of Ardara, shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance. Apartment was spotless and we had a really comfortable stay the weather was amazing which made it all the better. In addition to the apartment there is also a communal seating area to chill out on those hot days and secure parking on the ground floor.
We used this as a base to travel about various parts of Donegal. We did not need to contact Margaret for anything as everything was just perfect.
The location is just perfect a few minutes drive from Ardara. The owners surprised me with a gorgeous fruit salad breakfast & also provided cooked porridge, coffee, local bread & jams. The view from this property is just breathtaking it's definitely a hidden gem on the Wild Atlantic way! Photos don't do it justice. the owners are so friendly & made me feel so at home. I can't wait to stay at their property again & I already recommended to many friends
beautifully kept. the host was exceptional even going so far as to leave a few groceries to get us through breakfast in case we didn’t have time to shop before we got there. I found it to be really thoughtful and indicative of the overall experience. We really wished we could have cancelled the next hotel and stayed longer. we will definitely stay again when we go back that way.
Spacious, furnished apartment, full kitchen and comfortable beds. located in the heart of Ardara city, next to shops, restaurants... Host attentive to detail, they came to look for us to give the keys and show the apartment. Wifi, 2 TVs,... All fantastic. Independent house, without noise. Great for the weekend.
I very much liked the location of the apartment, walking distance to Ardara town, but you must take care as it is a a busy road.
I don't advise you to do this in the dark.
Lots of information located in the apartment about taxis, restaurants and local amenities.
Very hospitable Karen and checking all is ok.
Nice restaurant in the hotel. Not expensive. Quantities more than adequate. Quick and friendly service. Not exceptional but perfectly fine. If your intention is to explore the area by foot, not much to see. By car and within 15-20 miles, beautiful beaches and deserted, untouched areas.
Great host, very friendly and helpful also in the organisation of the trip, giving great recommendation about places to visit, where to eat etc. Great Irish breakfast. Highly recommended, if planning another trip in the area, I'd go back to hillhead house
Recently renovated, spotless and comfortable B&B. Accommodating and welcoming hosts. Right in the centre of town. Comfortable place to stay for a weekend in Ardara. There is use of a kitchen, dining room and sitting room. Would recommend it.
This little house was fantastic. There was everything you want in this house. It was beautifully decorated and felt so homey. The owners went over and above in providing kitchen facilities and even special baked goods on our arrival.
Great location. Few minutes drive from Ardara town, as we were there for Cup an tae festival in the town. House was perfect for us, 2 adults 2 kids. Nice little touches in kids room such as toys/games.
Excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. Staff were welcoming and very helpful. The view from our bedroom was magnificent. Loved that we could walk in and out of Ardara in five minutes.
Very good quality & clean B&B, Aunty B is very pleasant as are her staff. The house is very clean tidy and comfortable. We spent 3 nights in Donegal. It was the best B&B we stayed in.
Excellent hotel in a prime location.
Food at the hotel is a must and is 5 star standard.
Staff very nice and Ardara in general is a great place to visit to relax and have the craic.
they have a daily rotating breakfast menu with life changing pancakes and other food to start your day. If you want a full service Irish B & B experience, this is it!
Better than a hotel for a fraction of the price. The rooms were finished to a high standard and the kitchen/sitting room area are amazing. 100% will be back again
The location was lovely, with an easy walk in to Ardara. The breakfasts were good, with plenty options and we had a meal one night which was excellent.
