We went for the first 4 days of the Inter Celtic festival and were amazed at what a vast area was set up with hospitality tents, marketeers, marching routes etc, plus also making use of the buildings and conference/convert venues already there. The whole place was filled with music at every turn, whether it was bands warming up, smaller groups or soloists playing in alcoves - the place was just buzzing all day every day.
There was no shortage of places to eat ranging from snacks, eating on the hoof, or sitting down in various restaurants, and plenty types of cuisines to choose from.
It is all very walkable with lovely squares and tree lined avenues, lots of shops and pretty harbour.

The city of Lorient was flattened during World War 2 so all its buildings are postwar. A notable exception to the destruction is the submarine base with its immense concrete construction. There's a sort of irony that it was the reason for the bombing but largely impervious to it.
The people are very friendly and hospitable. There's plenty of places to eat and drink and the many docks provide lots of interest. Just be aware that it closes completely on Sundays.

We only really drove through Lorient and wandered around for a bit. We went to the World War 2 submarine base K3 but the guided tour was all in French so we couldn't understand all of it but it was worth 6.20 Euro to see it. There are other attractions in that area including an actual submarine and a museum and places to eat.
There are some lovely towns and villages in the local area, lots to explore . We had a very enjoyable boat trip from Pont- Aven. There are some beautiful beaches nearby.
The car could be parked in a secure, gated area. It would be helpful if the hotel advised guests how to gain access to the secure parking area other than parking on the street and going to the reception desk to ask. But we were grateful for the security, nonetheless. The hotel clerk has to push a button to open the gate.
Loved staying in a modern hotel with character but all the comforts you could want.
Room sizes are generous and I had one of the best night's sleep I've had in a very long time.
Perfect apartment, the hosts are very kindly and attentive. The location is very easy from the station and the port of Lorient.
I really have a nice time there!
