A place out of time, an old village of fishermen with a lot of charme. The village has a concentric plant around the ruins of an old military tower, lying between swamps for salt extraction and the sea.

We drove a little round the area. Narbonne plage was more to our liking than Gruissan, only 20 min away. Restaurants nice. Food good. Plenty of nice wine yards with good local products. Few spoke English, not a problem for us but if you speak any French it can be a little challenging. But you will manage. Primarily French people which I find refreshing when I go to see somewhere else. Not far to old cities in the area. You need a car if you want to see something more than just Gruissan.AdlerNorway - 10Scored 10

Gruissan marina is an attempt to duplicate the much larger resort of Cap d'Agde a few tens of miles up coast. While in Cap d'Agde they ended up spoiling the enormous sandy beaches environment building everywhere, they leaved this part mostly intact in Gruissan, which is much more balanced and still shows large patches of how was this region's seaside 40 years before. Old Gruissan town is more looking to the salty marshes and a certainly deserve attention. The whole place has some strongly endearing feelings.

Gruissan is a nice fishing village.
Gruissan is a nice fishing village. It has a big beach and nice areas to walk around. In the surrounding protected area you can see many species of wild birds (flamingoes, storks, etc.) It is very close to Narbonne and Beziers.

The location at the port was great with easy walking to the village, the étang, around the port and a beach. Short drive to the chalet plage and to the Clape for good walking. Good, secure, easy access surface parking The appartement was exceptionally well equipped - we did all our own cooking and had no problem (slight difficulty having two pans on the small hob at one time). Plenty of room for a couple, nice and warm and cosy.
