Room was not the cleanest, floor was dirty, prints on picture window looking at water…. Bed was comfy and sheets were nice. Food was good, location great. Overall clean the rooms better.

Ancona may not be an obvious holiday destination, but there's a scruffy charm to it that I like, and there's enough to do here for a couple of days. It's also a good base from which to explore the Marche region of Italy - I used trains and buses to do full-day and half-day trips to numerous interesting towns during my ten-night. (Smaller villages would require a car.)

Ancona in winter is not a tourist destination, but for those who want to experience small town Italy it has much to offer. I would recommend a visit if you are already familiar with the country. The tourist office map has 4 walks which take you around the centre. The Mole has a wonderful museum where blind, partially sighted and curious people can touch all the sculpture casts. Ancona is well connected by bus and train. The Friday market was fascinating.

Very interesting port city with a charming, historic old town. View from the cathedral perched on one promontory is magnificent… and the walk back down through the ancient streets is interesting: friendly people, good and some great restaurants serving local specialties. The Marche wines from the area are a joy to discover.

We used Ancona as an overnight stay to break up a long train ride, in hindsight we would have kept travelling to our destination. Ancona harbour and old town are worth a visit, especially the Centro old part. Our accommodation was some 30 minutes walk from Centro, the walk took in some lovely views, although steep in parts. Our accommodation was only 10 minutes walk from the train station and was quite ok to stay in, the breakfast was very nice.

A mixed city - the industrial port at one end and quiet residential / tourist areas at the other. The western residential area is nice to stay, near the cliffs and Passetto beach. More a place to relax than for frantic sightseeing, although there is history if you want it.

Great town to explore without crowds.
Great town to explore without crowds. Roman ruins and historic buildings and streets. Recommend going to the church in the hill and walking down. Amazing churches/amphitheatre/market/stairways piazza’s without crowds of tourists.
We stayed one night at Albergo Cantiani after a late arrival at Ancona airport. The accommodation is fine for an overnight stay. The host was helpful when we asked recommendations for dinner and when we needed an adapter for the power outlet. Our room was spacious and tidy. One point of attention was the bathroom. Although it was clean there was a strong smell. We left early, even before breakfast, so we can't rate this one. Fortunately, a different check-out time was handled flexibly by the host.
Great in every way for relaxation in the garden or the pool or if you want to swim in the ocean, just 50 m away. The fortress itself is amazing. Good breakfast and for those who want to experience what Italy has to offer in food from the ocean, I highly recommend dinner at the restaurant on the terrace overlooking the sea. Perfect resipe for beautiful and romantic date.
The room was very clean and the host kind and friendly. We especially loved the area that was created for breakfast. The grounds were lovely and we were able to walk around and relax. I was actually able to wash a couple of things and hang them on the clothesline outside. We were fairly close to Ancona and spent the day visiting around the city. Great find!
This was a very last-minute booking. A stayover in Ancona had not been planned, but our ferry came in with big storm delay late in the evening. I loved how responsive and detail-oriented our hosts was with such short notice. And the apartment filled all the needs of 3 very weary travelers. Especially nice to have washing machine.
The location was around Ancona train station which was 20 mins by trains from the airport. There were some halal restaurants around the area as well. The host was nice. Great wifi, Allowed to use oven, cookers, washing machine and had ingredients to cook with. The terrace has an amazing view.
Very healthy breakfast (with options for less healthy types).
Room spacious and had style + a terasse with fresh sea air.
The location is just ~150m away from the sea (you can hear the waves from the hotel).
Simple plug to recharge your EV (free of charge) provided without hesitation.
Superb location, stylish hotel building, friendly and helpful staff. The pool was being filled with water during our stay in mid May, and ideally it would have been ready earlier. The weather was already nice and warm, at least for someone from the north of Europe!
We arrived at Ancona from Split and the hotel is very near to the ferry disembarking location. The public bus stop is just a few minutes walking distance away. Room condition is very good. Breakfast food ingredients are also of good quality. Staff is helpful.
There was nothing to dislike about the property. Everything was exceptional. This hotel is on its way to be an institution. Thankfully after a very difficult stay at two other properties this trip we were blessed enough to find The Grand Palace Hotel.
located in central Ancona. though very silent. perfectly furnitured including washing machine. nice place to stay, even on a rainy day. best value for money. Nicola is a great ghost, very quick in answering on our requests, very flexible.
Breakfast all right knowing that breakfast in Italy is mostly just a cappuccino and a croissant. Due to Covid you have to point to the waitress what you want.
Walking distance to the city centre. Free parking place available.
Greag location, spacious, terrace view, best host ever Cesare! A real Italian experience, he was super nice, did a lunch for us in the cave right next to the sea and picked us up from the airport <3
Beautiful hotel with a view on the Adriatic. The rooms were brand new and in pristine condition, extremely clean and close to the port. The breakfast was typical continental which I always like.
Clean room, very heplful staff. The hotel isclosed to the bus station and the train station. Few bus stops from the beach. Everything very good!
Thank you Ancon Hotel! 👏👏
Location was the best! You could get to Ancona in 10 minutes by bus. Fotos are 100% acurate to the real state of Case Celeste. Owner is very kind and helpful person.
