Gorgeous, quiet, oversized retirement town.
Gorgeous, quiet, oversized retirement town. Plenty of beaches to visit, heaps of shops for tourist shopping, multitude of restaurants and take-away places. Has the necessities for shopping, cinemas, hotels, petrol stations, etc. This place forces you to slow down and smell the salt air!

A lovely flat place, where you can walk or bike ride till your heart is content. We are in our 70's and we bike ride all around doing up to 20k's in a day. Stopping for breakfast or lunch or just at the beach. It has great shopping centres with every shop you need. So many places to eat, all sorts. We enjoy the RSL for an evenings entertainment and a good meal. We use our bikes or car. I cant comment on the public transport. There is always buses on the road though.

A perfect, unspoiled beach location.
A perfect, unspoiled beach location. The beach is safe and perfect for swimming, with sandbars and fishing. There’s a lovely old pier for strolling on.
Nice cafes that are affordable. The people are friendly and relaxed. Great fish and chip shops dotted about, excellent fresh fish.
The Bayswater Bar near the Pier has happy hour cocktails 3-5pm and really good $10 pizzas weekdays 2-4.30pm. It’s the best place to spend an afternoon overlooking the water.
The waterfront has an endless promenade, with picnic facilities dotted along it. Great off leash areas for dogs. Don’t forget to greet the locals as you pass by.

The whole Great Sandy Strait is utterly superb.
The whole Great Sandy Strait is utterly superb. Great restaurants everywhere along the Esplanade. Need to plant lunch well, as disappoint most cafes close by 1.3opm to 2pm...so hard to get a late lunch.

Nice for a short holiday.
Nice for a short holiday. Whale watching is excellent and so is a trip to K'gari. A stroll along the long pier is worth the effort. Beautiful views. The weather is lovely in Autumn but a bit humid in Summer. It is easy to drive around Hervey Bay even when there are a lot of tourist. There are a lot of choices when looking for a place to eat.

We stayed in Hervey Bay for two weeks this time for the first time. Unfortunately we could only get a week in each of two places. We have made the trip to Hervey Bay many times and stayed in different types of accommodations from Motels, a house and now resorts. Have driven from one end to the other many times and I love it all. I Have loved staying at the Mantra the best as it has a lot of conveniences in walking distance and the shopping center is not far, by car, if you want to dine in your unit. We did drive to the other end to the RSL for the special deal meal nights. The staff have been wonderful in all places we have visited.
The room was large and had all the basic requirements for a backpackers. There is a communal lounge and kitchen and a basic breakfast and coffee / tea is available. Unfortunately the TV did not work and the aircon only comes on between 18:00 and 05:00 and was not very cold. My room was not ready on check in. In spite of that the staff ate friendly and the location is good. As far as a backpackers is concerned it is budget accommodation and not a hotel.
The facility is on acreage with kangaroos and plenty of wildlife and a very interesting couple equiped with all the information you require for the area. They also have pool😀
Breakfast was a simple with hot and cold beverages, local fruits and yogurts, toast and jams as well as a very interesting native plum jam😋.
Easy to find and 10 minutes from town and activities.
All in all we would return if heading to Hervey Bay again.
What was there NOT to like! Sarah has gone over and above on details in this tiny house! My husband and I agreed it was so well supplied and well thought out. Almost everything you need, Sarah has thought of! Little Sunshine was a ray of sunlight in a quiet country side setting and only about a 15 min drive to the Hervey Bay esplanade with its beautiful beaches. We would highly recommend Little Sunshine tiny home.
Our first visit to Hervey Bay couldn't have been better. Facing the Esplanade, an easy stroll to the historic Pier and some wonderful cafes and eateries, and just a stones throw to the beach, the unit was the perfect base to go exploring. Sarah and Ian - thanks for all the attention to details you make, and going just that little bit extra in looking after your guests. It was all so much appreciated.
As the name implies, Shelly Bay hotel is just across the road from Shelly Beach, a lovely, north facing beach that is one of the best for swimming in Hervey Bay. Shelly Beach is good for swimming even at low tide. Shops and restaurants are close by. The view from the suite is great. Because the bedroom is at the back, it is quiet. The on-site Indian restaurant has good food at reasonable prices.
Surpassed our expectations considering the budget price, and the room was clean and comfortable. The onsite restaurant and bar were a surprise, we enjoyed lovely sunset cocktails on the deck overlooking the lake.
There was a nice grassy area with a picnic table outside our room, it was a perfect spot for our morning cuppa. Easy walk to the beach, Urangan Pier, and Botanic Gardens
The room was well maintained and prepared in hygienic conditions. The staff are thoughtful about their guests. It can be seen that the owner has put effort in running his business. We will come back next time when we visit hervey bay again
Great location on the esplanade. Close to everything. If you like to swim you have a choice of pool at the resort or a short walk to the beach across the road. There is a restaurant at the resort that's open for breakfast also.
Staffs are very friendly and nice, spacious room offered a comfy stay for the entire family. The hotel also prepared many extra stuffs for showers and cooking which also very convenient for the customers
excellent accommodation on Esplanade..close to restaurants/shops/beach..quiet rooms...comfortable beds & room was very clean...walking distance to pub & other restaurants
