Has a lot to offer with a big city feel.
Has a lot to offer with a big city feel. Lots of restaurants, stores and places to watch sports, movies, cultural events. Not too far from the ocean or places to ski in winter or swim in summer. Lots of great hotels/motels. Bangor even has an international airport that is fairly close and easy to get to. The various Bangor expressways are numerous and easy to get to. The highway department keeps them in excellent condition year round. Bangor even has a casino downtown.

We usually visit Bangor once or twice a year for cross-border shopping. Over the years it seems the number of stores have dwindled. The Bangor Mall has very few shops actually open and no food court left. We will think twice before returning to shop.
We always enjoy dining at Applebee's and had a great lobster roll at Chase's Restaurant.
We did enjoy visiting Stephen King's home and were very pleasantly surprised to find the Cole Family Land Transportation Museum only 3 mins from our accommodations. It is a very well-laid out museum with transportation items from bicycles, sleds and baby strollers to snow ploughs, fire trucks and farm equipment . . . even a pop-up tent trailer from 1925! Well worth a visit!

Breakfast was very well presented in a large dining area (so easy access to tables) with two servers for the hot food (sausages, scrambled eggs). Hotel is a little outdated, but it is very clean and the staff are very helpful.

Kind of hard to GPS but finally got used to it.
Kind of hard to GPS but finally got used to it. Fr Knox is a great tour and Paul Bunyan statue and Steven Kings house. Fun. Traffic downtown was a bit much to find a place to park and eat. Great Irish Bar at a hotel but I can't remember the name of it.

The highlight of our visit was the Galen Colen Veteran and Transportation museum. It has so much history of Bangor and from the WWII and the Korean War. My husband and I truly enjoy it. We highly recommend it.
DO not stay at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Bangor. Their breakfast they offered was a bagged breakfast that included a banana, a yogurt cup, a cookie and a pizza pocket type thing. They advertise a great looking pool that was not open and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The hotel kinda looked like a place you would rent by the hour if you know what I mean.
At least we didn't spend a lot of time there but still spent a small fortune there for such a shitty experience.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was quiet and the breakfast was amazing! Scrambled eggs, sausages, cereal, fruit and really
great coffee. There were two very nice attendants serving breakfast. The hotel is near two very good restaurants that you can walk to. The front desk employee was very friendly and efficient and offered us free donuts, coffee and snacks on arrival. This place is very large and well located. We would stay here again.
So impressed with this hotel. It was INSANELY clean, literally looks brand new. The staff went above and beyond for us. The pool and hot tub were so nice and very clean. I was a little surprised to see two full beds instead of queens but they were very comfortable and we slept really welll! I never wrote reviews but I’m so impressed.
I stayed at this hotel because of the location. I had a 5 am flight and I could walk across the skywalk to the airport. I looked at other hotels in the area that were listed as airport hotels, but they did not have a shuttle service to the airport. I wasn’t sure about getting a taxi or an Uber that early in Bangor.
This was the best hotel we stayed at on our vacation traveling from Illinois to Bangor Maine. Very helpful and friendly staff and the location was great. Very quiet location yet very close to shopping and restaurants. If we ever take another trip to that area we will defiantly stay at this hotel again
With a midnight arrival at BGR airport, we needed a good place to sleep before driving 50 miles to our home. Bangor Grande Hotel is 5 minutes from the terminal, with a shuttle and offers quiet, comfortable rooms. There was also a 25% discount for breakfast at the hotel.
The staff is VERY nice and clearly doing their best. The pub being attached to the hotel is very convenient. It's very accessible to nearby attractions and freeways. Also, weirdly great water pressure in the shower.
Conveniently located near highway but in the rooms it was quiet. Spacious rooms which are very clean. Nice continental breakfast which closes on weekdays at 9am. Friendly staff. To go downtown car is needed
Location, seconds off the highway 365. The room was large and comfortable. The Irish pub attached to the hotel was very good. Being next door to a casino proved profitable for my husband and entertaining.
Spotless and quiet. Great welcome and friendly hosts. Everything was very clean and we enjoyed the quiet location. 5 min drive to the shops and restaurants of Bangor mall. Would recommend.
Hotel is so so pretty, the room massive and far prettier than any other in Bangor. Staff friendly. Hot tub hot and spacious. Everything about it exceeded my already high expectations.
Did not have breakfast. Hotel location is great for our intended visit. Swimming pool water temp was good, area was nice and clean. Hotel room and hall was clean as well.
Comfortable hotel on the edge of town. Lots of parking, The front desk staff were always helpful.
Breakfast was a little poor but there are many places to eat out near by.
Everything at the hotel was good. The check in and check out clerks were helpful and friendly. Everything was in good order in the room. The internet worked fine all night.
