If you are in Mompox for some Garcia Marquez nostalgia then this is the place to stay - Doña Betty is straight out of one of his novels as is her old family home which she has turned into a historic hotel with lots of interesting antique furniture and art. Air conditioning in the room was powerful which was absolutely crucial in sweltering Mompox. Doña Betty also arranged an excellent walking tour of the town for me.

Pretty pueblo, but, oh, so sweltering hot. The view of the river is non existent from the place in which i stayed as the municipality is conducting repairs to the river bank. This has been going on from September i understand.

The tranquility of the place and the beauty of the old...
The tranquility of the place and the beauty of the old colonial buildings. A lot of money has already gone into beautifying the village in a way totally consistent with its colonial history. Unfortunately major works to repair paving of the roads and put cabling underground is still ongoing which makes it dusty and noisy in many locations but once the work is completed it will be wonderful.
The trip by small boat to do birdwatching on the lake is a must as is a guided walking tour of the village sites. Mompox Retro are a good group to use with knowledgeable guides. Don’t go on the planchon if you want to see birds as the loud music frightens them away!
Good restaurants were Santa Coa, Comedor Costeño, Fuerte and Inmaculada.

Beautiful city but at this time under road constructions whic is sandy ans messy. Great optons in food and variety at the Malecon which is the best place to walk and spent the entire day.
Ask for the walking tour, go on the flat ship thorugh the river, great experienes. Filigrana is awesome, we went to places to understan what it means and how it is made.

You don't really need much time to know the town.
You don't really need much time to know the town. You could stay longer if you just want to relax. Beautiful colonial town on the bank of the Magdalena River. Nicely preserved the unique architecture of the colonial times. It may still be better preserved, however. It could become in a real (and unique) touristic spot in the middle of the Magdalena Valley.

A must visit town of Colombia.
A must visit town of Colombia. A hidden jewel, a taste of Cartagena without hustle, extremely safe, clean, and everybody is super friendly. Multiple places to visit lots of historical aspects of this important place in the XVII-XVIII centuries.
Stunning colonial house converted into a small hotel. Didn't look like much from the outside but it's beautiful once we walked in. Tastefully decorated. Great breakfast. Centrally located right by the river. The best thing about Casa Amarilla is the staff. The lady at the front desk in the morning is very kind. The two housekeepers I want to take them home with me. The gentleman at night shift was so nice. He walked us almost to the main road trying to find us a tuktuk when the one we arranged didn't show up. Thank you!!!
The hotel offers a unique and enchanting stay for book lovers and those seeking a tranquil escape and the colonial-style architecture is absolutely beautiful with literary themes, and cozy reading nooks.
I really enjoyed the exceptional service and a stunning central garden for relaxation.
The café serves gourmet coffee artisanal, and the communal jacuzzi provides a soothing retreat.
I loved the concept and I will come back for another memorable and inspiring ocassion.
This is a truly beautiful hotel located in a renovated building from the 1500s in the centre of Mompos. The room, indoor garden and breakfast were perfect. Rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully designed. The help and service we received from the manager (Maria) was truly amazing. It exceeded our expectations and was something special that made our stay in Mompos perfect. The treatment we received from all the people in this hotel was exceptional.
great riverfront location which is key if you’re in mompox, staff is great superrrr nice and helpful, decor and vibe of main common areas is very cool - I didn’t sit out there because it was so humid though and I didn’t have much time, cute inner courtyard with a nice pool but note there are no chairs or lounge chairs to sit around it, great ac
The apartment was very clean, the A/C was on when we arrived so it was cool which is much needed in Mompox, the host is amazingly kind and welcoming. If you are an early bird, the host will share coffee and cookies for breakfast. I will come back to Casa Wamaris every time I am in Mompox and will recommend it to everyone.
Nice family-style breakfast. Location was marred by riverfront construction ongoing in front of hotel. Good sized room with fan and air conditioning and very tall ceiling and adequate closet space. Two large public reception rooms and pleasant inner courtyard. Nice toiletries in bathroom.
The hotel is beautiful, perfect for working remotely or a getaway. The room was big and nicely decorated. Bed was super comfy. There was hot water in the shower. There was always fresh fruit with breakfast. Gardens were so beautiful too.
Cozy colonial house with colonial bedrooms in the historic center of Mompox. Personnel very gentle as well as the owner who helped us to make our travel experience even better with good advices.
The hotel was secure, clean and modern. It is in close proximity to the old town by foot. Parking was arranged nearby and was well managed. The breakfast and coffee was great.
It was an amazing experience, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. It was clean, the staff were super friendly and it has a good location. The breakfast was delicious as well
Beautiful place to stay in Mompox, the rooftop with the jacuzzy has a amazing view, the staff is very nice and kind, the breakfast is delicious. Will definitely stay again.
