The original capital of Finland, Turku is the country’s oldest city that features a bustling harbour, an array of museums and restaurants, and is renowned for being the cradle of Finnish culture.
During the summer Turku’s waterfronts come alive with boat bars and cafés, along with popular festivals such as Ruisrock Festival and Turku Music Festival, which are held in July and August respectively.
The city offers a number of entertainment options and landmarks such as the Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art, Turku Cathedral and the medieval Turku Castle, which overlooks the harbour.
Tallink Silja Terminal and Viking Line Terminal offer regular ferry services to destinations such as Stockholm, Åland Islands and Moomin World Theme Park, located on the island of Kailo.

Turku is a very nice smaller city in FInland. There are lots of intereting places to visit in the surrounding area, the river aura, the cathedral, the museum, the harbour, Ruisallo island, the botanical gardens. Also plenty of good places to eat.

We didn't get to see much of Turku, unfortunately.
We didn't get to see much of Turku, unfortunately. We stayed there as it was convenient for Naantali. However, there were a number of museums and galleries etc that I would have liked to have seen.

It is a good experience from spring until autumn.
It is a good experience from spring until autumn. In between everything is gloomer with less opportunities. At any time of year, you should not expect that most people will meet your eyes nor smile. Nature is nice and during the summer there are possibilities visiting archipelago. If you are in the downtown, don't forget to visit over 100 year old Turku market hall, where you can have a great lunch and feel the local vibe. There are also plenty of unique nature walks around the sea or forests close b

Nice places to visit: Turku Castle, Cathedral. The city is beautiful and very clean.
Ate a couple of times at Timbuktu. Very nice African restaurant.
Public transport is cheap, on-time and convenient. It is 3 euros for two hours on any bus line.
The city doesn't sleep in summer time. Firsthand experience!

Just a lovely city with plenty of attractions to visit, naval history, medieval castle, lovely parks, plenty of choice regarding eating out (recommend Panimoravintola Koulu; Lone Star (burgers, fries)), easy to get around by walking, bike and/or scooter. Great base for exploring the islands of the Turku Archipelago. Must see attractions include Luostarimaki open air history quarter, walking or running along the Aura river, Turku medieval castle at Linnanpuisto park, Ispoinen beach and Sauna; various historical sailing ships along the Aura.

I went to Turku for Knotfest, so I didn't have enough time to see all the views. But, since I've been to Turku many times, I can tell you that it is an excellent place to visit with many sights to see, and not overly touristy. I recommend seeing Turun Linna (Turku castle), the River Aura, the old wooden neighborhoods, and the Turku cathedral.
If you are traveling on a budget, the public transport system works well, unless you use it after midnight when music festivals have just finished, such as Knotfest. In that case, be prepared to get ditched by bus drivers. For cheap food, you can download the ResQ app to buy cheap lunches from restaurants and help reduce food waste in the process. You don't get any breakfast - though the company has agreed a deal with a nearby cafe. I didn't use this because the room had a fridge - I bought smoked salmon and rolls when I arrived from nearby supermarket for breakfast. If I'm not confusing Turku with the Tampere hotel, this one was better appointed, with a modern bathroom, and as it was a top floor room it had a very large roof window. Fantastic uninterrupted view of a stormy sky when I was there. Cosy and dramatic at the same time!
We loved, loved, LOVED this hotel! Originally a home 120 years ago, it's now an extremely comfortable, charming, and unique hotel. Our room overlooked a luscious garden, carefully tended by the owner. It's just a block from a Main Street, but super quiet. Walk up the hill to the park to watch the sunset. Our favorite part was the 3rd floor lounge with overstuffed chairs and sofas. So comfortable and quiet. I wish we had planned to stay here an extra day.
The room was basic but ok. It was clean, towels were provided, seemed pretty secure, location of the hotel was excellent, and the breakfast was particularly good. It was served in a cafe type place connected to the hotel and there was actually a queue of people (non hotel guests) coming from off the street just to get breakfast - which shows how good it was.
The hotel is conveniently situated in the city center, with key attractions within walking distance. The bed provided comfort and the air conditioning functioned well and noiselessly. The shower delivered strong water pressure, which was appreciated. Breakfast served was tasty. Parking is located under the town square located at Yliopistonkatu 16.
Good place to stay. You will have the one room appartment with kitchenet, cofee masin, el.ketle, pans. Good location - to center of Turku around 15min walk. Near from 8 min walk grossery stores/ supermarkets/ cafe/ pubs/ restorans. To the river promenade up to 6 min walk. Around 30min walk to the Turku bus station.
Really enjoyed this stay. Great location right next to ferry loading so easy to be on time. Only a few blocks walk to castle. Relaxed and comfortable hotel. Good room windows for light and privacy despite parking lots. Had a very good smoked salmon salad at restaurant. Excellent breakfast.
Lovely stay in Port Arthur, short stretch from Kakola hill and Turku Castle. Lovely garden and friendly neighbours. Apartment silent and confortable, well furnished and nice bed. Different coffee making options. Cooking facilities in place. Clean and cozy, good linen. Handy with bicycles.
the apartment is fairly new and kitchen is equipped. bathroom is big. that's about it. super-expensive for what you get. looks very nice but it's all a cover up for a kitchen room with two single beds in it. only good thing is location by the harbour museum and walk by the water.
Fact the hostel was in a solidly Finnish created structure built when Finland was known for its skill in ship building and management of transatlantic shipping lines. That it was part of a larger historical collection of ships linked to Finland added to it significance.
We have stayed at the hostel once and this time we booked a hotel room. It was really clean and comfy. Nothing over the top but just what we needed to be happy. Nice breakfast with options for people with diet restrictions. Easy parking. I would gladly stay again.
Unique accommodation in the center of Turku. If you are tired of the standard chain hotels, this place furnished with soul and located in the park is a right choice. Breakfest was excellent and staff professional and friendly.
Great and easy check-in. Private entrance to the hotel. Free parking on site.
Price was really good comparing to other places in Turku. Room was big and spacious.
Beds were comfortable. Good and spacious bathroom.
The staff was incredibly kind. I got to the hotel really early and since they had a clean room they let me do an early check-in and even have breakfast. Which, by the way, was a super tasty breakfast.
The hotel is conveniently located above a burger shop, which makes it easy to get something to eat/drink. It is really close to the city centre and there is also a super market close by.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. The hotel is attached to a shopping center for easy shopping and is within walking distance of restaurants and the city center.
