Sauze has a great range of skiing linking into the Milky Way and other close by resorts. English is widely spoken, food is reasonabley priced, ski shops abound. The resort is a little lower so snow has been patchy the last few years. In a week you couldn't ski it all.

Great for skiing. so many slopes/km of trails.
Great for skiing. so many slopes/km of trails. Local people are friendly. village/town is nice and great food / restaurants.
It's a shame that for 50 Euro/day the ski resort has no gondolas or faster lifts.
Otherwise we love coming here!

A lovely little town with many great bars, restaurants and of course great skiing! The Old Town is all picturesque cobble streets and cosy venues and the apres ski is also good. Access via skis to nearby Sestriere is also possible, which opens up another large ski area for those wanting more pistes to play on.

Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history.
Sauze d'Oulx is a very quaint town with a lot of history. If you want a cosy, picturesque stay in the mountains better to stay in Sauze than Sestriere if you're looking to ski at the Via Lattea resort. There are many good restaurants such as La Griglia and many bars, including sports bars. A lovely deli (Gastronomia) which I picked up many treats from and a pasticceria (Pasticceria Valsesia) where I bought loads of lovely Italian biscuits to take home with me.

Amazing after-ski vibe.
Amazing after-ski vibe. Cute village with a lot of restaurants serving delicious food. You do have to book ahead or you find yourself flitting from one establishment to the next trying to find a table for dinner. Cobblestoned roads. Easy acces to ski lifts and rental ski shops and easy to find shops selling ski gear.
On rhe fownaide i found no dki instructirs availablexthere and then so it s importantvto pre book
the choice of evening meal and breakfast were excellent with a great choices. the ski shop next door was very convenient for storing boots and skis. Caroline the owner was fantastic. My husband broke his femur and was taken to the hospital Caroline gave me her mobile number and was there to help me get back to the hotel later that evening. Nothing was too much trouble she was really helpful, friendly and I couldn't have coped with everything without her and her staffs help. I will be back.
The hotel has so much potential, yet it has a long way to go. The hotel is beautiful and the views from the balcony are fabulous. Rooms are spacious, clean and nice. Bathroom small. Staff are helpful and nice, yet disorganised. Service during breakfast is inconsistent. We had dinner at the hotel only once, as it was disappointing. However, I do get the feeling that you are expected to dine at the hotel daily. There are good restaurants in the village, which are definitely worth visiting.
Excellent location close to the ski lift and nice to have a boot room so close by too. Really great breakfast - plentiful, good choices and great coffee! The staff were superb - really friendly and could not have been more welcoming. Special thank you to Nicoletta for booking restaurants for us, arranging lifts into town and being super informative about the resort. This is a real gem of hotel and I hope we might return.
At first glance the hotel appears dated, but it is actually a very traditional Italian place to stay. Guests were from many countries. Breakfast was excellent and their is a dinner menue if you want it. There is a ski locker, car parking and it is in the heart of the town. Only meters from the Clotes ski lift, bars, restaurants and shops.
The location was perfect! Comfortable, very cozy apartment with gorgeous sunrise views. The kitchen and laundry machine were extremely useful. Temperature was also comfortable the whole stay. 10/10 would return! Just make sure you're aware there's no WiFi. Thankfully, the whole town has public wifi, as does the hotel next door.
The hotel is modern and clean, and the location is very good. The Clotes chair lift is only a 5-7 minute walk away, which is convenient. The decor is modern and not your typical kitsch mountain cabin style (which is a nice change). The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Our host Sarah was the best thing about Hotel Gran Trun. So friendly, knowledgeable about the area and great taste in wine. Gave us great restaurant recommendations. Charming hotel in old part of town on cute cobbled streets.
Great buffet breakfast with a massive range of food & lovely view. Love the bar area! Staff helpful. Good to buy lift pass at hotel with discount. Ski locker room very convenient & warm. Easy shuttle bus to slopes.
Gran Trun is a gem in this vintage ski town. Sarah was incredibly helpful in directing us and extremely friendly when we met in the bar / dining area of the hotel each morning and evening.
The hotel deserves a much better rating if the communication got improved.
I got a very hard time getting an invoice. I finally got a totally unproper invoice with no ID from the hotel.
Location central, having own apartment with washing machine facilities, modern and clean
We were also able to use the hotel services for the lift shuttle which was a great bonus!
