    The host is lovely.

The host is lovely. She speaks a little English but her warmth and hospitality bridge the gap. Accommodation is spotlessly clean and spacious. Beds comfortable. Recommend for those happy to stay a short drive from Paleochora wanting peace and quiet. This is a large growing area so you will be in and around grow sheds. Still This is a wonderful authentic place.

Kountoura Selino is more of an area towards the end of a seaside road at the Southwest part of the Crete islands. Driving out from the town of Palaochora, one finds along the seaside road a supermarket, camping ground, housings, some tavernas, beaches and beach bars along the road. Of the beaches, our favourite was Grameno beach, as it provided a facility with umbrellas at the wonderful sandy part, as well as a more beautiful wild naturist part settled among the dune and rocks. We saw wonderful sunsets there. A car is needed to get around the area. We were there in the first week of September, and it was rather quiet with few tourists, which we enjoyed.

Fantastic very helpful owner. The breakfast was wonderful - fresh - varied with delicious homemade jams and preserves and lovely savoury pastries and home baked cakes. The pool looked nice although we didn't go in. The un-finished dusty road back to town isn't nice but work is going on to improve. Nice tavernas and beach very close by. We had a smallish double room but clean with a comfortable bed and good shower. Nice balcony facing sea. We would return and would recommend.

Lovely if you want quiet, romantic, gorgeous beach, good restaurant - Gramenos was traditional Greek and good value delicious food. Need transportation if you want to add the more buzzing nightlife of Paleiochora. 10 mins drive but taxi worth it. Will definitely return. Reminded me of my youthful Greek Island hopping in that not packed with sun beds (they are available) and not built up. Delightful and charming. And my Francophile husband finally ‘got’ Greece!

Kountoura Selino is the place for you that wants quietness and tranquillity. It has just a few family own hotels, a couple of restaurants, and a very nice beach with fine sand and with hardly ever any rough sea. Always perfect swimming conditions.

    Lovely quiet beach.

Lovely quiet beach. A sandy section and also a pebbly section. I would advise swim shoes. There are 3 restaurants. We enjoyed good food at each of them. We went in the month of May and it was very quiet, but we love that.
