The Waitomo Caves is a must-see, and there are other attractions close by. We grabbed lunch at the Waitomo General Store which is more than just a store.The Cafe and menu selection is amazing and very reasonably priced. Cassandra and her team are a friendly bunch and super efficient.

The garden at the cottage was amazing to explore. Te Kuiti has a fantastic Indian Takeaway with a wide range of menu options including a traditional Chicken Tikka Marsala and a toandoor oven to make Naan. Only problem was that we arrived on a weekend and a lot of restaurants nad safes were closed and no shops open (this is normal in New Zealand country areas but not where we come from in Australia). Ladies in the inforamtion centre were very helpful.

The town is very pretty, clean and tidy. The cafe on the right as you drive in is absolutely amazing! Excellent friendly service and food delicious. The New World staff were so helpful and friendly. A very peaceful place.

We stayed overnight en route from Auckland to New Plymouth...
We stayed overnight en route from Auckland to New Plymouth so saw little of Te Kuiti, but we saw beauty in the surrounds. We don't recommend taking the bypass route missing Hamilton on a rainy night!

Stoked restaurant was excellent the food was magic, fish tasted like lobster, sweet and so fresh! was partnered by a creative salad including avocado and zucchini and amazing combo of other flavors, rhubarb tart was easily the best i have ever tasted. A note that travellers should be aware of is that you can't take you're unfinished bottle home with you, a licensing rule in NZ

My partner and I have been on a road trip for 5days and it was such a great choice to stop there. The friendly lady at the reception was helpful as we were able to do our washing and drying for free. She also took our breakfast order which was convenient for us as it came on time too. The food places in the area are also delicious. Bedding was comfortable and clean!! The bathroom was quite small - narrow actually. Partial kitchen facilities but limited. The hotel will make breakfast for you if you notify them in time the previous day. I believe there is a charge but we did not use this option so I can't comment on how good the food was. the view from the room was very beautiful. I see why the name is Panorama.

The restaurant meals were excellent, great steak and burgers and they were very accommodating for my vegetarian partner. The room itself was a little basic and showing its age, but perfectly comfortable and warm with kitchenette, tv, and private bathroom so the important things were there.

Not that far from Te Kuiti but very close to the Taumarunui highway if you were travelling that way. Very highly recommended!! The gardens were the highlight of the stay - like a small arboretum. Unfortunately, New Zealand had the worst rains and floods for decades so we missed the glow worms. The area still had enough to do we didn't waste any time. We enjoyed visiting the Hamilton Temple visitors center on the way from Auckland.
