Nice compact little town. We were there about 16 hours-tried two restaurants. The 421 was a great beer/restaurant and the Blue Ben was great for a big breakfast. We noticed a nice, independent bookstore in town, although it was closed when we were there. There was some public art on the street: a colourful cougar sculpture.

Bennington is a beautiful old fashioned New England town with a couple of excellent diners and nice local craft shops. Sadly the museum of the battle of Bennington was closed due to earlier flooding in Vermont but that gives me a reason to come back at a later date.

The Harwood Motel was a great spot to spend the night.
The Harwood Motel was a great spot to spend the night. Wish we had stayed longer to see the museum, etc. The downtown was really nice with plenty of options to eat and shop for gifts, antiques. There weren't a lot of franchise stores, just small business, which is so much more interesting!

We loved old Bennington with all the beautiful buildings, monuments and history! The covered bridges were a great treat, plus the stop for Maple syrup at the store between the 2 coveted bridges was a real find! Cinnamon maple syrup made there! Delicious!

Considering my daughter and I met there for a visit with each other at the end of February, it met our expectations with some shops, restaurants, and museums being closed. It would be a good location for us to meet there again between May - October when more things are opened like the theatre, museums, and other shops. Farm Road Brewery was friendly and nice atmosphere with food being offered from a local restaurant, Ramunto's Brick Oven Pizzeria. We enjoyed general portions of personal pan pizza, BBQ wings, and salad with chicken added. Would definitely stay a quick weekend again.

We love Bennington! But this hotel really disappointed us.
We love Bennington! But this hotel really disappointed us. It was the first room we stayed in since March and it was dirty. I don’t mean just a little bit dirty, I mean I had to clean the room on vacation dirty. That’s completely unacceptable to me. Even if it wasn’t Covid time, it would be Unacceptable. But because it is Covid time, it’s even worse. Management please take a look at this property and overhaul it.Lots of promises after the fact, but none were fulfilled. Apparently our room was not supposed to be rented out because it was not clean. But the front desk clerks decided to rent it out anyway. I’d really like to hear from Best Western about this issue.
I stayed at this hotels many years ago and it was a dump and swore I would never come back. But since I was staying only 1 night I took a chance as the location was perfect and the price was perfect. To my surprise, they have turned this place around and I was quite surprised at the improvements!! I was quite impressed and the staff was very pleasant at check in! Even thou the rooms are a bit outdated, it was clean and comfortable.
We love staying at local mom and pop motels, but they can sometimes be run down or have begrudged hosts...not the case at Catamount Motel! The rooms were clean and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. I highly recommend for someone looking for a simple place to stay while visiting Bennington. It's also right by a very cute string of shops, which we will take advantage of when we come next time for a longer visit.
+ Very attentive and helpful staff (in fact, this place was the only one that bothered to answer my breakfast request regarding food allergies during a four week long road trip along the East coast)
+ Big, clean room with a comfortable bed
+ Good location, it's close to the Bennington Battle Monument and there is a supermarket just around the corner
+ Outside pool and free parking
The location is fabulous. It’s convenient to all of Bennington, as well as Routes 7 and 7A, for exploring all the surrounding towns. The inn is beautiful and we were sorry we didn’t have more time there to sit and relax on the pretty porch or perhaps play a game or two in the sitting room. Joe is a perfect host and we hope to go back soon.
Very friendly employee at the office who gave us a map of Bennington and some recommendations where to eat and what to visit.
The room was big enough for our baby soon to crawl around and play on his mat with his toys.
Bathroom worked very well, parking is right in front of the door.
Wifi worked great as well.
Cozy, nostalgic, and very, very clean.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, they gave us restaurant suggestions and ideas for the rest of our road trip.
Bennington is a wonderful little town, and staying at the Knotty Pines made our visit even more memorable.
We’ll be back!
Friendly staff and great location. Short walking distance from downtown, the Bennington Museum, First Parish Churchyard, and local eateries. Very clean. Not luxury accomodations by any stretch, but solid, basic amenities at a great location and a great price.
I was upgraded at no cost because I was in Bennington overnight after being stranded due to a flat tire. Steve, the front desk person, was amazing as he took care of me and was very helpful finding food and a store late at night. Great service!
The rooms were cozy and clean. We had two cats and a Border Collie travel with us and it was great finding a pet friendly motel. The staff was very kind and helpful. I would recommend this to my friends and family.
There was no breakfast. The coffee was appreciated. The hotel is pleasant, quiet, very clean and the rooms are spacious. A Balcony was nice. The pool looked inviting. Overall good value and nice place to stay.
Quiet room Very clean comfortable beds, snd good size breakfast area. Breakfast delicious. For the fall enjoyed the pumpkin waffles & old fashion oatmeal and fresh fruit bowl
