La Pine is a good junction city down the SR-97. I wouldn't normally seek out the town, but it was a great central location for some snow sports I had planned for the weekend I was staying, and it was a lot more affordable (value wise) than where I stayed around Crescent the day prior.
It's a smaller city, so things shut down early. Something to keep in mind.
Although you couldn't directly see the stratovolcanoes, you could see Bachelor, the Sisters, and Broken Top with a short drive down the SR-97 or to one of the surrounding areas, and there were some other cool outdoor areas (Paulina Lake, Newberry National Volcanic Monument) that deserve some consideration if you are into the outdoors, as well as some local state parks.

A 50$ charge was ran on my Credit Card without my approval . When I questioned transaction I was told it was a deposit for any damages in the room. Charge would come off my account at 11:00 am next day. Two weeks later and after numerous calls, I was accused of smoking in the room and taking room key. When that finally got resolved (never smoked a day in my life & left key in room because we started out at 4:30 am so as to not wake front desk) I am now being accused of stealing 4 towels... Would NOT recommend this hotel.. We should have keep driving...It was convenient for travel and clean. But customer service is greatly lacking. Thank goodness I booked through Booking.com... Filed a grievance, their customer service is outstanding.....

LaPine, OR is a quaint little town that is rich with friendly people. Try Gordy's Truck Stop for an amazing down home breakfast or if you want to try the best donuts in Oregon, go to Wikiup Station.

La Pine is surrounded by beautiful lakes but the town itself is about as hillbilly as you can get. There are very little resources available and in my opinion, it's worth the extra drive to just stay in bend.
Nice room, great parking, comfy bed, good size frig + microwave ( some hotels now don't have either), quiet, great indoor pool and hot tub ( clean, pretty pool area, just what I needed after hiking), great hot breakfast. Nice front desk staff, thanks.
This was a relatively good value hotel. We chose it because it was not too far of a drive from Crater Lake (1.5 hrs). The lobby was a throwback and had a classic chess table. The staff was pleasant and breakfast was decent.
We were an hour outside Crater Lake. It had everything we needed. Food and a gas station be side the hotel. The room was beautiful and the breakfast the next morning was outstanding.
