Hungry Trout Resort, hotel in Wilmington

Located in Wilmington, 16 km from Lake Placid, Hungry Trout Resort provides accommodation with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

The restaurant is really quite excellent... a real Adirondack treasure...food, service, atmosphere are all you could want. The lodging is a bit dated...carpet is best replaced in rooms that allow pets. Nevertheless the suite was very functional and provided three beds for three people. It is really close to Whiteface so Iwill stay here again ...even in the summer as there's an outdoor pool and the grounds back onto the Ausable River. PS Steve the resident handyman was quick and helpful when we had trouble with the lighting.

The Wilderness Inn: Chalets, hotel in Wilmington

Located in Wilmington, 18 km from Lake Placid, The Wilderness Inn: Chalets features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a bar and barbecue facilities.

Super close to Whiteface and much better value than stay staying in Lake Placid. If you are here to ski drive into LP for a visit and stay close to the Hill. Excellent Communication and the check in was easy. New owners are great and working away at upgrades.

Adirondack Spruce Lodge, hotel in Wilmington

Offering a barbecue and views of the mountain, Adirondack Spruce Lodge is situated in Wilmington in the New York State Region. Whiteface Mountain is 7 km away.

We liked pretty much everything, the breakfast was fantastic, nothing fried for a change which was great, everything was healthy, we enjoyed it very much. Location of the lodge is also great, hiking is just around the corner or literally just behind the lodge. Then there are the owners who are just an incredible couple, very welcoming, very warm and with great suggestions of what to do in the area. We loved the room, the cleanliness of it, the fact that it was literally sound proof and we couldn't here our next door neighbors. Overall, everything was just perfect!!!

Grand Adirondack Hotel, Lake Placid, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, hotel in Wilmington

Located on Lake Placid’s main street, this hotel is a 5-minute walk from many local attractions, including the Lake Placid Olympic Center.

The location, view and bed were perfect. Paid valet parking was convenient and on site. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel, but only because Lake Placid offers so many dining opportunities.

Eastwind Hotel Lake Placid, hotel in Wilmington

Situated in Lake Placid, 2.9 km from Lake Placid, Eastwind Hotel Lake Placid features accommodation with free bikes, free private parking, a garden and a bar.

It was dirty. Example, left a water bottle that they supply from the previous guests that was half gone. Dirty, sink was cracked and leaked onto the floor, forgot to bring our breakfast that we order. Spoke with a couple of people who worked there and they would not respond to us. No TV, they didn’t mention that in the info, the furniture was old and stained. You get the picture!!

Wilmington is a very nice area near/within Adirondack State Park. White Face Mountain, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, etc., are all very close. Lots of smaller, "woodsy" motel accommodations available, but book well ahead if you want to stay in the better ones (meaning more $$$$) with more amenities.

This was our first trip to the Adirondacks.

This was our first trip to the Adirondacks. We had heard about the Ausable River and decided that's where we wanted to fish. So, it was pure luck that we came across The Hungry Trout. We adored it. It's the older motel type - all ground floor rooms. Super clean. What we liked most - how friendly everyone was (in town and at resort), clean rooms, fly fishing shop and guides on premises, and private fly fishing directly behind property. What I wished we had known before hand - food, restaurants are scare. There's a restaurant on premises - tad pricey/fancier. Super good food - Campfire Trout was fabulous. It's closed on Mon and Tues. There's a more laid back place called Rudy's that's maybe 2 miles away? It's closed on Wed and Thursdays. There's also Fratelli's Pasta and it's closed on Tues and Wednesdays?? Also an A&W Restaurant. We arrived late Sunday night thru Friday...so you see we had a hard time figuring out where to go to eat and who would be open. Don't get me wrong, I would go back in a heartbeat, but I would get a room with a kitchenette if possible. I forgot to mention that there is a small market called The Little Supermarket. Super friendly people, and they have everything you need, plus they sell homemade sandwiches, salads, pasta salads, homemade mac n cheese. Bottom line, I loved The Hungry Trout and wished I lived there.....lol.

We had a wonderful 4 day trip to Wilmington and stayed at The Wilderness Inn which we would highly recommend to others. Visited The Wild Center in Tupper Lake and spent time walking around the town of Lake Placid. Plan to come again to see more of the area!

You could open windows to hear nature sounds n the river.

You could open windows to hear nature sounds n the river. No one, or building behind you so very quiet. Very wooded behind motel. Great terrace overlooks by the restaurant but not outside your room ,so bring your drink n relax. Remember the restaurant n bar closed Sunday n Monday. Surprised us! Peace n quiet . Nice pool area. Wildlife refuge nearby. Adirondack mountain Cafe had the best breakfast n lunches and just the right price with great coffee n big mugs. A general gift n liquor store right up the road. Whiteface nearby and you can see the mountain. Also the north pole amusement park near for the kids. Check times of opening. This was a perfect quiet getaway for us. Almost no need to visit Lake Placid with all the construction going onand high prices of meals. However renting a kayak, paddle board on Mirror lake was awesome. Nice gift shops there too. Enjoy the view n river with trails close by as well

Great location to base for winter activities.

Great location to base for winter activities. Not far from Lake Placid, but away from the hubbub of Placid. Close to Saranac Lake, a small city worth visiting. We had an excellent dinner at the Hotel Saranac’s Campfire Grill restaurant.

ledge rock is great - awesome location. rooms are old and not updated and not always the super-cleanest (I think they should just tear out carpets), but otherwise this is the best place around. across the street from Whiteface and super-friendly staff. rates in high season are high but everything in the area is like that on weekends. if you go in knowing what to expect you’ll be plenty happy there. it ain’t the ritz. :-)

The host was great, very responsive, nice and felt like we could contact for any problem that might arise. It's a quiet compound without many things around, but if you want a couple days in nature away from society this is the place. The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were comfortable and there's a nice sitting area. There are a few towns 10 min away were you can find a few restaurants.

The cabins had a cute, rustic feel and the sheets were very soft and the room came with nice amenities like a fridge, toaster, Keurig, and TV. Also, the owner was very friendly and made the stay enjoyable. We conversed via text most likely due to COVID and they answered promptly. And there was a fire pit in the general area for us to roast marshmallows.

It was our first time staying here, and I wasn't sure what to expect as I usually stay at a chain hotel because of points I have from work travel. We were totally blown away. Keith made sure our stay was perfect, the rooms were spotless, breakfast was amazing, I could go on and on. This place was fantastic.

The cabin was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Hemlock, a bit secluded from the other cabins, was wonderful -away from the road with a open floor plan and nice to lounge around the fire. We didn’t get to use the outdoor spaces due to the season, but I’m looking forward to future visit to the area!

Great location, close to all the attractions in Wilmington and Lake Placid, nice shared facilities, BBQs and fire pits. Cabins are spacious and comfortable but a bit dated. Kitchen was well stocked, coffee machine and pods was a nice extra to have.
