We loved the Venetian port and the Old Town. One of our favourite places was a restaurant called Paradisiaco in the upper part of the port on Theotokopoulou Street. It is a very interesting neighbourhood. A beautiful art shop with a friendly owner is in the same area. Another good restaurant is Maridaki in Maridaki Steet.

Its a quiet, mountainside/seaside town with amazing food.
Its a quiet, mountainside/seaside town with amazing food. I dont think I had one bad meal there. The beaches are amazing and the water is a crystal clear green/blue. I'm sure there are lots of activities and things to do involving hiking and snorkeling. If you're looking for lots of shopping from big retail, I dont think this is the place for you. A lot of the shops are local businesses.

A very good place as a base for the western part of the island. When visiting the eastern or central part, it is better to move around. However, the western part is famous for its greatest attractions.

This was our third stay in Chania as we love it so much.
This was our third stay in Chania as we love it so much. It is clean and well-kept, with a pretty harbour and large selection of bars and restaurants. We always visit in April or October when it’s buzzing but not too overcrowded.
The prices are very reasonable, especially in the Kuom Kapi area.
We discovered Amphora taverna in the Venetian harbour this visit, and although you pay harbour front (slightly higher) prices, the portions were huge and excellent value for money, and the service was excellent.

You don’t need much time in the town, it is beautiful but touristy. However a great base to visit the western part of the island. Definitely drive from north to south via the mountains and olive groves. So beautiful

Lovely old town and harbour with restaurants all the way...
Lovely old town and harbour with restaurants all the way along. Makes sense to eat off the harbour front as it’s less expensive. Plenty of boat trips ranging from one hour to several. There is a good beach which was a good 40 minute walk for us but no problem. Costs 10 euros a day for 2 beds, umbrella and table. Hop on hop off bus was a good way to spend a day, Souda was interesting.
The Pandora Suites was the perfect stay for our first trip to Crete. The accommodations were lovely. We had a two bedroom suite which was just the right size for our group of four. The location of the hotel is right in the heart of the old town. The best restaurants, shops, cafes and pubs are all within walking distance. We also greatly enjoyed the rooftop breakfasts each morning which overlook the harbor and the old town. it was a wonderful four day visit. We would highly recommend this property to anyone planning a visit to Chania.
Cozy Corner was a perfect place to stay in Chania. It's only a 15 minute walk into the Old Town, but tucked away enough from the hustle and bustle. We rented a car and were a bit worried about parking, but we always managed to find a spot on the block. The aesthetic was very crisp and clean and had very modern fixtures. The balcony was also a lovely spot to have a Mythos in the evening. Very close to a 24hr mini market, other amenities, and lots of local eateries! It was a wonderful home base to explore Western Crete from.
The host Manoli was very welcoming and knowledgeable, he knows almost everything around Chania (and probably anywhere in Crete). He shared stories of the past and recent histories of Crete and left me with more in depth understanding of the Island. The location of the hotel is less than 100m from the water front, in a busy street filled with nice boutique shops and decent restaurants, but the room is facing the back of the street with a very nice balcony so you get nice and quiet sleep at night.
Perfect stay. Centrally located hotel next to everything. Next to shops, old town full of wonderful restaurants, bus station and anything you could need. But the best was the attentive staff, especially Olga who helped us out with tips and recommendations, she always made us feel welcome and made the best out of our stay. She even suggested restaurant and made reservations for us, where usually it would not have been possible to get a table. Just perfect, thank you very much, Olga 😊
I wanted a typical Greek hotel close to the beach and all in all an amazing stay! From the room (spacious, sea view and best sunset you’ll see on Crete - boats are coming in the evening crowded with tourists to see the sunset you’ll enjoy on your balcony), to the sounds of the Waves at Night, the breakfast and the super friendly staff! Additionally, you have a great beach in front of your doors and the city in 10 mins walking distance! Will come again
-Exceptional service. Felt more like a luxury 5 star hotel because of the staff. W had a flight at 6am, the hotel had provided us with breakfast bags when checking out. Ordering transport, upgrade of room, help with all practical matters etc. Stayed at 5 star luxury hotels and their service did not match Samaria.
-Location just 5 mins walk to old town and 1 min from central bus station.
-Great rainfall shower.
We have booked the nicest spa deluxe room very comfortable for the 4 of us (2 children) and superbe sea view on the last floor.
Very nice welcome and great suggestions from the receptionist on areas to visit in crete . She also managed to book one nice evening dîner for us in a nice place . We did appreciated the welcome cocktail in the bar pool at the hotel.
Very close to the old town 15 min walk.
Everybody at the Balance Hotel is very friendly and helpful, and try their best to make you feel welcome and give you very useful information for your stay in Crete. The rooms are wonderful and very big, and also very clean. On top of that, the position is Perfect to reach the most beautiful parts of the city. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chania!
The rooms are located just next to the old walls into the old town. It is mostly a very quiet area, and we loved the location, since it's close to everywhere you need to be!
The room is cute, decently sized and comfortable.
Breakfast (which is done in a separate Elia hotel) is amazing! One of the very best I've had.
Everything about Alcanea Boutique Resort. We had a lovely one night stay and wished we could have stayed longer.
Check in by reception was easy and we were given a lot of helpful information to make our stay in Chania enjoyable. We recommend this hotel and will stay there again if we return to Crete.
The apartments are very clean and stylish! As for convenience everything is thought out to the smallest detail. And the owner’s care for you is such that you feel at home and safe. We have travelled a lot in Crete and can say these apartments are worth 5 stars! Thank you very much, Antonios!!!
The attention to detail in the room, the breakfast, the location and the lovely staff. We're traveling around Crete staying in different hotels, some more expensive than this one, but none have provided all the little extras and level of customer service we received at Epavli.
The hotel was great. The staff were very helpful, supportive and it felt like staying with a family. The tips they gave and the help with making arrangements for tours and sightseeing in Crete made the stay amazing. I am definitely returning to Crete and this hotel.
This apartment was really really cosy and clean. And tiny little private garden was big and relaxing with own walls.
Sea was near and old town also.
Owners were really nice, caring and helpful couple .
So we had absolutely great time in Crete 🇬🇷🧘🏖🥂
The wonderful location in charming old chania town
The warnhearted host and crew are really impressive
Thanks for the surprising fruits and bread for free and we can take on the car to the beautiful beaches in west Crete !
I spent one night at the hotel before getting on my flight back home. Wonderful view over Chania and close the airport. Exactly what I needed! Great breakfast and wonderful pool to enjoy my last day on Crete!
