The absolute best town to stay for your trip to the Sacred Valley or Machu Picchu! The most beautiful historical centre and with ruins on both sides to ecplore. What an amazing town! Do mot even think about staying in Aguas Calientes, here there is so much character and history with the most beautiful architecture to explore and streers to get lost in. Definitely a must stay over!!

Ollantaytambo, the hidden gem of the Sacred Valley !
Ollantaytambo, the hidden gem of the Sacred Valley ! more people should investigate and spend their time in Ollantaytambo, instead of booking their time in Cusco or anywhere else, within the Sacred Valley. We had the time of our life there! This place and its people have a special kind of energy & beatify, unlike anywhere else!

We made Ollantaytambo our home base for our Sacred Valley...
We made Ollantaytambo our home base for our Sacred Valley visit and were glad we did. It was small enough to walk everywhere, the train station, the square, the archaeological park, the original pre-colonial section of town. We visited in the low season in the last half of February and enjoyed the smaller number of visitors.

We messed up our communication and did not get tickets to Machu Picchu. Do your research and purchase tickets BEFORE you arrive…months in advance for high season. Nevertheless we toured the archeological wonders of the Sacred Valley— Temples of the sun and moon and more. It was very spiritually powerful and architecturally awe inspiring, did not feel like a consolation prize for missing MP…. Just a reason to come back. Do not miss this tour if you are hire… and hire the guide. It’s worth it. Food was great here too.

We loved this town. In total we stayed 3 nights.
We loved this town. In total we stayed 3 nights. And would've preferred to stay another night instead of returning to Cusco. The restaurants are plenty and good, the people are so nice, and the coffee shops are nice. Hiking all around, and the ruins and market are enjoyable.
Both walking everywhere is good and getting a taxi is also easy.

We decided to go there straight from Cusco to be better acclimatized before heading to Machu Picchu. We visited sites like the salt mines along the way to Ollantaytambo and stayed in Cusco at the end of our trip. Our accommodation host Alex did all of the arranging and was super helpful. Ollantaytambo was a great start to our trip. A very safe town full of culture that is easy to get around. The Inca sun temple was definitely worth visiting and we highly recommend getting one of the guides who will explain all of the significances of the site. Highly recommend visiting Ollantaytambo and where we stayed. It was a great start to our vacation!
We had a lovely stay at this serene property situated at the end of a charming cobblestone street. The mountain views from the hotel were beautiful. We discovered this place four years ago during a day trip to Ollantaytambo and remembered it for our recent visit. We were delighted to stay at Apu Lodge this time and the staff was extremely helpful. They arranged breakfast for us very early in the morning before our trip to Machu Picchu. We will be back for sure next time we visit Ollantaytambo.
The restaurant/cafe in the hotel was fantastic and the staff at the hotel were very friendly. It had a nice garden that could be seen from the room. The biggest perk is probably that the location was very convenient and secure if you were arriving and leaving by train as the entrance is inside the train station, and entry is restricted to passengers with tickets and hotel guests. There's an adjacent farm you can get a tour and lunch at; seemed like fun if you had the time for it.
The best place that I stayed at in Peru. It was incredible value for money and was better than all of the other hotels I stayed at, some of which cost three times the price. Booked for two nights but ended up staying for a week. Family owned business and the owners are very good and helpful people. On my last night they helped me book a taxi to the airport and woke up at 3am to make sure it arrived and I got off smoothly. Could not rate this hotel and the owners more highly.
The location of this beautiful hotel is great. Waking up on the morning and see the Ollantaytambo arqueological site from your window is priceless. Breakfast was really good. Love the fact that the hotel is focus on sustainability and supporting local artist and vendors. Everything speaks Sacred Valley and involving in a conversation with the owner you will get amazed of how many stories the hotel and every single piece of the decoration have.
Definitely recommend!
Location is great! Close to the ruins, the view was amazing! Walking distance to everything. The family that owns this hotel is very sweet and made me feel welcomed and safe. They even helped me get to the train station via moto taxi very quickly due to my driver not being able to locate me. I was able to make my train to Machu Picchu. They are very accommodating and I slept great after a long day.
Sol Ollantay is in a great location, close to the Ollantaytambo archaeological site, train station and great places to eat around the square. Derek and Freddie were also very helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a great view over the river. Breakfast was included, and there are some nice places to sit and relax inside the hotel. Thank you Derek and Freddie.
Eureka Lodge was an amazing place to stay right near the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary. The owners were amazing and helpful. The stone breakfast room filled with delishiousness was one of the highlights there. I appreciate the owner finding me a colectivo to go back to Cusco. Great value for the price. Very clean, safe and great location.
Really central in ollantaytambo, close to the train station and the city center. The place is really beautiful and the breakfast was great.
The hostel staff was super friendly even letting us use the commodity after our check out.
We could let our bags when we went to Machu picchu.
Great experience in Ollantaytambo. The location is far from the center in a mountain, with great view and amazing vibe. They have a driver to pick you up from the main square that will take you to the hotel. Amazing room and facilities, such a thoughtful staff. 200% worth the stay
Right on the Ollantaytambo train station platform yet serene surrounded by the El Albergue farm, we loved our time at this hotel with amazing warm staff who welcomed us with delicious local food, assistance to plan our tours, immediate attention to everything we needed.
Perfect location to explore Ollantaytambo on foot, but still quiet at night. The owners and staff were INCREDIBLY helpful and kind. The hotel is clean and super comfortable. Plus, the breakfast is THE BEST BREAKFAST we had in all of our 2 months travel through Peru.
Excellent location for transit to ollantaytambo train station and Machu Picchu. Beds were comfortable, breakfast was fresh and delicious and our host was truly gracious, very sweet and extra helpful, assisting with all kinds of things like transit to and from Cusco.
We loved the beautiful garden setting and the location near the train station. The staff were very kind, especially the two men at the front desk who were very helpful with finalizing our trip to Machu Picchu.
The location is good, just outside the main square and a short walk to the Ollantaytambo ruins and the train station. There's hot water so taking shower a after a day of traveling was good.
The personnel of the Rupaq hotel waited for us until very late in the night and they were lovely. The breakfast is good and the room is calm, very good value for money in Ollantaytambo.
Staff super friendly and helpful and the place is very nicely decorated. Very good breakfast also. One of the best hotel in Ollantaytambo for the price. Highly recommended!
We stayed at the hotel next door as this was full despite us booking a room here. But the hotel was lovely and staff were very helpful organising us transfers to Cusco.
