Tartu is the second biggest city in Estonia, it has lots of places to visit, like museums, science centre, shopping centres, theatre, there are lots of walking to do, there are great local transport links in Tartu, there are plenty of hotels,B&Bs, plus apartments to stay in, most of the big shopping centres are in the city centre, there is also a free bus that takes you to one of the biggest shopping centres in Estonia, just on the outside of Tartu, that shopping centre is very big, and takes about two hours to walk round, it has a lot of different store, restaurants, etc there. The local buses are also great to use,buy a tartu bus card, tap and go, or, buy tickets at Tartu bus Station, there are local buses, and city buses, there are lots of them, make sure to get a map, as it is a little difficult to know where to go/get off, if you do not know the area. By the river, across the foot bridge from the city centre behind the market, you will find a nice beach area for summer, it is lovely there, and sandy, plus changing areas for everyone.

    Fell in love with Tartu!

Fell in love with Tartu! An absolutely amazing city with a wide range of museums and activities, cosy and variable dining places, perfect for strolling and cycling around... So much to discover! I will surely return! Try out the city museums, observation tower, printing history museums, science center, spa center, public transportation is easy to use and takes you all around town with an ease. Yet, one can also rent city bikes to move around 😀

Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at.

Tartu is a beautiful student city to stay at. With the river running right through it it has everything you can wish for. It is busy enough to get whatever you want, but also to feel almost alone enjoying the lights around the river lights during the evening. Also a lot of nature in a short drive away.

A nice and compact city - so called "university" town. A lot of things going on and many pubs on every corner. Just don't travel to Narva after visiting this town. It will be like a slap in the face.

    1) Stupendous location right at north edge of Old Town. Most places we wanted to see in Tartu were within walking distance. 2) Extremely well-equipped kitchen (although no space for a microwave). 3) Very comfortable bed. 4) Responsive host 5) The host was able to arrange parking for us (10 euros/day) in a small, unpaved lot immediately across the street--a huge advantage. We do not know whether space would always be available during the high season, however (we were there in late September).

Stylish, sunny colored small apartment! Cozy for 5 people, but comfortable. The temperature was unseasonably cold, but the heat in the apartment was very comfortable. Kitchen was well equipped, all appliances worked fine, shower worked well with enough water pressure and hot water for all. Plenty of parking behind the building. Food markets not far away. Very easy to find the apartment and many of the main attractions of Tartu are just a 5 minute drive away. Would surely stay there again!

Starting with very friendly host and perfect instructions, ending with spotlessly clean apartment. this is probably the cleanest accommodation I’ve been in EVER. not even a water drop to be seen anywhere. despite rarely being able to sleep in hotels, I slept so well here - the bed/couch is so comfortable and reminded me of home. very soft blanket and pillow, not the stiff hotel solutions. also, very nice shampoo and shower gel - again, like at home. I felt really great here :)

Very kid and family friendly. Short walking distance from Ahhaa and Auru. Wonderful breakfast, wide spread of af choice even for pickiest eaters. 24h parking only for 5Eur additional fee. 1min walking distance to shopping center with food store and food courts Opposite the hotel there is a open air market. I suppose this hotel is also dog friendly as we saw costumers with small dogs.

Great location with nice view out to the park, plenty of space, large disabled bathroom with heated floor(lovely), easy to control heating in the room, large TV with some Estonian channels. Beds very comfortable. The 24 hour reception is very convenient with seamless check-in. There is also a lot of history in this building, which stimulates imagination during your stay!

Very nice hotel, with friendly staff and comfy rooms. I like that it is located in the city centre and there is a nice view to the river running through Tartu. The breakfast is very tasty and lots to choose from. After breakfast we took a nice walk by the river and through the old town of Tartu. Overall a very pleasent experience with hotel Dorpat.

The breakfast was exceptional and the hotel restaurant was amazing; rooms were very quiet (no outside noises, got a very good night’s sleep); staff was very friendly and helpful (which is not often the case in Estonia, the friendliest service I’ve ever encountered here); really comfy beds and great pillows :)

Probably the best breakfast in town. The spa is small but really relaxing place. I love the fact that they use textiles etc by Estonian designers in the rooms, it is not that common in Estonia. And the rooms are well designed and have more character tha most hotels in Tartu.
