A beautiful place with loads of history, however mid september mid week is probably no the best time to visit, as the attractions close early and the castle does not open until midday. Few restaurants to choose from in an evening as some only open weekends!

Vadstena is special to me because it was the home of Saint Birgitta of Sweden, it is a beautiful medieval town, and it is on the banks of a large and lovely lake. There are a number of things to see, e.g., the castle, the klosterkyrka, the kloster museum, the Martin Skinnare house, the mental health museum, the city museum. There are also a number of interesting shops. The Brigittine nuns are back, have a relatively new church and cloister, and the public can attend mass there.

Vadstena is a charming old lakeside town with some great places to visit like the castle and convent museum. Or you can just wander around the streets! It has a range of nice restaurants, bakeries, etc.
We had a great time. We were staying in the family apartment with a lot of space to relax. The kitchen has all we needed, the bedroom is quiet and has a very comfortable bed. And last, but not least, the host, Joel, is the nicest person. Everything was very pleasant and after we told him we were vegans he gave us the best breakfast. By the way, Vadstena is a very lovely town.
To be honest, as an accomodation it was pretty average. But the surroundings, not least for a person interested in history. When booking the room, I didn't realise that it was *so* close to the old convent. Nor did I realise it was so close to lake Vättern (just outside the door) and I sorely regretted not bringing my swimsuit.
The staff on site was also brilliant.
The setting for the breakfast was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel. We chose to stay in the annex which was decorated in Scandinavian textiles. Being right next to the lake and the ancient town of Vadstena, the backdrop was very appealing.
The location is great, right next to the church and museum. Has the vibe of the old monastery and historic feeling. We loved the staying and the facilities. Also great breakfast and plenty of space in a historic environment.
Lots of space outside, beautiful garden. Close to all the attractions in the city, close to the lake. Can park outside. The owners thought even of small details inside (milk, salt, goodies). Highly recommend this place!
The atmosphere of the very beautifully restored house and the friendliness of the hostes’. The breakfast was very delicious, too.
We loved visiting Vadstena town, the castle, the monestary, Lake Täkern and Omberg.
Super cozy place and nicely situated near the centre of Vadstena.
Owners respond to questions rapidly and are very obliging.
Definitely booking again, next time we will make sure to spend more time in Vadstena.
Absolutely beautiful and spacious villa, super clean, so beautifully decorated, very well equipped, very comfortable beds, very well located near Vadstena village. Loved it!
Breakfast was very good. Breakfast place easy to find. The B and B itself was very interesting. Very small, but as the house is the smallest in Vadstena - undestandable.
We had an amazing night..the dinner as suggested was possibly the best in Vadstena and the breakfast buffet was great also. Would recommend this hotel to anyone
