We didn't find much to do or see in Portel itself, although it is a fairly convenient location for exploring the surrounding region. There are a few good restaurants there, for good traditional Alentejano food, but that's about it.

A sense of calm and quiet to relax. you have to drive about 3km our of Portel on unmade road to get to the property which is part of a working farm . The room was a good size and furnished in quaint traditional style. Manuela was a lovely host and we really appreciated her flexibility for us to have an early breakfast on departure.
