It's best for the great wall.
It's best for the great wall. I recommend going to simatai for the sunset, jinshanling for the awe inspiring views and panlong for the untamed wild serenity. To get to panlong, you need to didi or get a car to the bottom, then pay 25rmb to get in. Once at the top, turn right (east). You have to come back the way you came(apparently there is another way down but we couldn't find it). Wear sensible shoes. Miyun isn't easy to get around. Factor in the price of hiring a car into your trip.

Perfect gateway from Beijing, good for a one day tip or longer weekend. One of the most beautiful parts of Great Wall, lots of spots for hiking, hotels with hot therms for relaxation and all set in breathtaking scenary.

I am actually too late to review our fabulous stay at...
I am actually too late to review our fabulous stay at ChengTao Folk Inn in the village of Erzhai near Gubeikou Water Town. But because it is situated within Miyun district I will add my review here. ChengTao Folk Inn is like home away from home. It was our second time there and it just gets better and better! The hosts Angela and her husband are fabulous - friendly, helpful and uncomplicated. Oh and the cooking - divine! We especially felt humbled to taste a herb/vegetable that the locals people there harvest in the wild. It was delicious and different! The accommodation is comfortable and just right and the Wall is just a short walk up the back through a very interesting play ground. I highly recommend ChengTao Folk Inn - you will feel comfortable and at home and you will enjoy the unhurried pace of simple living. We will come again Angela!
