Captains Cove Resort - Waterfront Apartments, hotel in Paynesville

Set on the Paynesville canals on the Gippsland Lakes, Captains Cove Resort - Waterfront Apartments offers an indoor heated pool, a tennis court, basketball ring, private jetties and water activities.

We used to come regularly to captain cove. But I hadn’t been there for about 10 years since my kids were young and was very pleased to see that our townhouse was modern, refreshed and updated over the years. Great kitchen lounge outdoor deck and the best is the view outside onto the canal. Towels provided, even pool towels and a lovely Nespresso coffee machine with 4 pods was a nice addition in the kitchen. Was happy to be back again. Didn’t disappoint.

We had the pleasure of staying in a family river view room,...

We had the pleasure of staying in a family river view room, and I can't help but express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful experience we had. The accommodation provided was truly fantastic, offering everything a family could possibly need to feel completely at ease during our stay. The rooms were not only spotlessly clean and beautifully modernised but also tastefully decorated, with lovely views from the patio overlooking the river. The air conditioner and fan upstairs were excellent and worked brilliantly, maintaining a consistently comfortable environment throughout our stay. The blackout curtains and blinds ensured that we could enjoy peaceful mornings without being disturbed by the bright sun. The pricing was more than reasonable, and the abundance of food options, coupled with the proximity of an excellent IGA just minutes away, made our dining choices convenient and enjoyable. The information book provided comprehensive details, covering everything we could possibly need to know in extensive detail. The mattress on the beds and the linen surpassed our expectations, providing a level of comfort that rivalled some 5-star hotels in the city. The shower pressure was delightful, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash provided a luxurious experience for our skin, leaving my hair feeling silky smooth. The strategic placement of power points and the inclusion of dimmable light switches were the finishing touches that truly demonstrated the meticulous thought put into every aspect of our stay. It's evident that the team has considered absolutely everything to ensure a 10/10 experience, and for that, we are sincerely thankful.

Paynesville is a beautiful friendly underrated place to visit. Everything is clean and nature is at your back door. Paynesville reminds me of how Lakes entrance used to be before it became overpopulated. Raymond Island is a must visit also. Waffles are to die for and the Swans are so majestic. We caught Bream and Mullet from our back door @ our accommodation. We will definately be spending more time here in the future.

I forgot to mention that Kitchen bench had pieces of laminex broken off, which every time you brushed pass caught on clothing. Needing to repair side of bench. Sending photo of existing damage from previous tenants.

Paynesville is a great spot to access the Gippsland lakes.

Paynesville is a great spot to access the Gippsland lakes. It is easily and cheaply accessible by public transport. If you have a boat, kayak, SUP or even a floaty, there are plenty of places to use it. Fishing is excellent. There is a good bait and tackle shop on the waterfront. Take a 2-minute ferry trip to Raymond Island for koala spotting and bird-watching. Cycling is fun there too. Take a bike that doesn't mind the gravel. Swimming and water play are fun on the island too, especially on the beach facing Paynesville

Everything from beginning to end was smooth flow. Staff was always ready to provide useful info. But the icing on the cake was having the boat jetty right in front of the unit. We stayed 5 nights and every day was some place to go using Captains Cove as a base: water, islands, 4WD driving, or just watching the music festival on the water, from the water. The way the units are set up could easily accommodate anything between a couple to a group of friends (3 bedrooms, 2bathrooms on 2 floors).

We all enjoyed our stay at Dolf Inn. It is a spacious well laid out house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms which is what we were looking for. Pet friendly was also a requirement. The property was clean and we appreciated that the heating had been turned on for us prior to our arrival on a chilly day. Managing Healesville Getaway myself I know how much work there is in maintaining and ensuring that the property is clean and presentable for guests. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful little cottage. Very clean & comfortable. Hosts lived on the property & were very friendly & informative about the region. It was in a quiet location and easy driving access to everything. Some great restaurants in Paynesville. And we loved Raymond Island and its koalas, even though it rained while we were there (autumn).

Great location - in the heart of Paynesville opposite the free ferry to Raymond Island. The Island was great to walk around, lots of wildlife; koalas, kangaroos, birds. Hotel near to the supermarket - handy walk. I loved the phosphorescence in the water - very unexpected to see a blue bow wave on each swan!

The holiday park has all the facilities one would expect even for a retired couple like us in our 70s. It is a 10 minute walk from the Paynesville shops, restaurants and supermarket. Also to the free ferry to Raymond Island with its delightful walks and being able to watch the koalas in their natural habitat.

Proximity to the water and Paynesville town were the highlights. The mooring was excellent and our main reason for picking this venue. Accomodation was comfortable and well appointed. We would certainly stay again at this time of year.
