Mantra Bathurst, hotel in OʼConnell

This 4-star hotel provides free WiFi, free parking and comfortable accommodation, just 3 minutes from Bathurst town centre. It is located close to Mount Panorama and Charles Sturt University.

The room was spacious and comfortable but the shower over the bath was a challenge. You need to be young and agile to get into the shower as the bath is very high. Not at all good for the elderly.

The George Hotel Bathurst, hotel in OʼConnell

Located opposite Machattie Park in the centre of town, The George Hotel Bathurst Bathurst features pub-style accommodation with an award winning Restaurant and bar.

Location - excellent. First room (15) terrible - no chair, no bedside tables, no hangers, mouldy shower curtain - huge (floor) air-conditioner and big duct through window -right next to bed head. Constant subtle noise from some source in ceiling or roof - every 14 seconds. Moved to even smaller room (5) with no cupboard, chair, bedside tables - where does one put clothes, etc. Finally moved to room (2) - if we’d been given that room in the first place we’d have been satisfied. Breakfast staff excellent.

    Jennifer is a fantastic host!

Jennifer is a fantastic host! We stayed there this weekend and it was fantastic. Clean, fresh, fantastic decor and vibe, and amazing hospitality. It felt like a quiet retreat. Would definitely recommend and travel here again. The reception dead zone didn't bother me at all. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for your hospitality Jennifer:)

We were welcomed by Jennifer with a cup of coffee on arrival. She was a friendly and considerate host. We really enjoyed the home cooked breakfasts. We spent a morning in comfortable chairs amongst the beautiful, well cared for grounds. There was a lovely grand piano we played in the old schoolroom there, part of the original Glenburn House. A great, inspiring getaway from mainstream accommodation.

The cafe (The O"Connell Avenue Cafe) sold the most delightful foods, especially the Greek Salad and coffees/milkshakes; the scones were so light & yummy but the Lemon Meringue Pie was simply scrumptious - we had to go return for some more divine pie. The Cafe is nestled immediately next to paddocks with sheep which gives a peaceful, rural panorama to enjoy as we ate. We loved the little shop next door (Tumblegum) and enjoyed our steak at the Pub on one night also. We also liked buying farm produce (ie sensational duck eggs) from local farms as we drove past.

We came here just to break a long trip and relax overnight before heading home from a longer holiday and are happy we took this detour. The O'Connell Pub is the only place for a meal which was fine for us.
