Didn't end up staying there. I drove 4 hours to only be strandard in a remote unfamiliar area sat in the car all night in fear total darkness around a back street because this hotel/pub locked up and left . They had 6 hours to check if they had any bookings. Obviously they didn't as they knocked off work. No emergency contact numbers available. . No access to the room i booked . No access to speak to anyone. The number provided was the pub ph number and clearly I could here it ringing from outside. .
I'm in a street with complete darkness. Nothing opened for anyone to help me in a horrible situation. I'm Still waiting for a phone call to atleast apologise. But no ! This buisness Obviously hasn't had any empathy to check my wellbeing considering that put me in a potentially danger situation. It's 10pm and I'm completely strandard. Couldn't sleep in my car as I didn't have a blanket or pillow. I am disgusted that a buisness can treat a human like some wild animal

Friendly town in close proximity to the "Caves".
Friendly town in close proximity to the "Caves". Not much open at night, however I was staying in mid winter. Exploring Jenolan Caves were once again fascinating with my 'bucket list' highlight being abseiling & climbing down the interior of the Elder cave....known as The Plughole!

There is very limited dining choices especially in the evening. The Royal Hotel does it's best and the food is fair but not great. When the museum is open by the old railway track it is worth a look around.

Nothing special here.
Nothing special here. The information centre can only mention the caves and a garden. The water garden is lovely enough for someone who does not usually fancy gardens, but it seems it's not always open.

Oberon is a lovely little town with nice little shops along the main street, several tasty options for a meal (we quite enjoyed the RSL), easy to navigate and all of the locals are kind. In the area we enjoyed going out to the dam, to see the heritage railway, the interesting building that is the hospital and the gardens. We adored the Gairloch Garden, which was open while we were there, an absolute delight run by wonderful people if visitors ever get a chance to go there - do it! We also went out to Mayfield Garden during festival time when the entire garden was open which was a wonderful full day experience. I admit, we were in Oberon for a self-directed garden tour and made our way up to the Blue Mountains which was a nice easy drive through lovely countryside and visited Nooroo Garden at Mt Wilson (incredible! Definitely go there!) and the Blue Mountain Botanical Gardens which was incredible.
If you are looking for a quaint little town with nice people, sweet shops, humble delicious food and nature to explore, Oberon is a wonderful place to go.
The view from our room was this peaceful little paddock. The staff were friendly. Really great location for visiting the Jenolan Caves. The room was very clean. Kitchenette also had a microwave which came in handy as everything was closed in Oberon so we had to heat up frozen meals we’d purchased on our way through Bathurst.
The place exceeded our expectation. We got everything we need in the chalets and the place was clean, easy check in and friendly staff. I would recommend the place to relatives and friends. I would book again to this place if we visit again Oberon or nearby places like Jenolan Caves and Mayfield Gardens.
I think this is a bit supprised for me as I never have experience staying in an old hotel like this, so I was imaging I was a bush ranger or someone living in gold mining age, it was so good to have somewhere to stay with hot water.
Very nice style hotel with great friendly staff.
Make sure you try the bistro with melt in your mouth lamb meals. Lovely fireplaces in common areas. Handy to Mayfield gardens and Jenolan caves.
We will return.
Highlands was a lovely motel. Very neat, clean, comfortable and with modern bathroom facilities. The location was convenient for the Jenolan Caves which was our reason for stopping in Oberon.
Travelling on a motorcycle. This place never disappoints us when we stay in Oberon. Neat, tidy and meticulously clean. Great central location. Friendly, accommodating owners and staff.
the hotel is at the city entrance. It is easy to get in and out and to reach restaurants in Oberon. The view of the bedroom was very nice, a lot of natural lighting and comfortable.
