We had booked to stay at the motel as we were travelling with friends who had used the motel several times before. They laughed when I told them we had paid extra for a deluxe room as they said all the rooms are the same standard and there is nothing deluxe about them! Checking in at 2.30pm no one was available in reception but the phone did switch through to someone off site, we were directed to our rooms. After opening the door and being hit with a stale, awful tobacco smell I phoned back and asked if we could be moved to another room, as out friends room directly nextdoor did not have the awful smell. hop I was told by the person I was speaking with who said they were a non-smoker that she had been in the room 3 days earlier and had not noticed the smell. I was offered another room but told it would cost more because it would be a twin room, not a double. I refer you to my friends answer. We could not cool off by a swim in the pool as it was drained so no relief there. On a positive side although the room was terribly shabby and old the bed was comfortable with additional pillows in the wardrobe. No hangers in the wardrobe however, we thought being in a deluxe room we might have had some supplied. Very disappointing and well overpriced.

My husband was born there, so we wanted to spend some time there having a look around, we were told that because most of the touristy things stay open on Saturday and Sunday they don't open on Monday and Tuesday when we were there. Same for the club. Travelling at night is to dangerous so we made do with the pub both nights for dinner, the food at The White pub was fantastic great value for the amount of food, the 2nd night we ordered pizza they delivered it for $2. Delicious.

A beauty of a town in a very scenic valley now there has been some decent rain, Enjoyed a pizza and a glass or 2 of red at the White Hart Hotel and an early morning breakfast at the Life of Pie Bakery.

It's a small town nestled in a valley. Offers good trekking / bush walking opportunities. Check out burning mountain trail. This place has some good cafes. I suggest Nellibelles cake and cafe shop. Also a good place for amateur stargazing.

This quaint little town is like stepping back in time.

This quaint little town is like stepping back in time. It has a lot of history and the friendliness we don't often see these days in bigger towns or cities. The scenery is beautiful nestled among the mountains and there is a lovely walk through the park out the back of the town where you can climb the mountain and for the adventurous, can work your way through the rocky tops through the eye of the needle to look over the whole of Murrurundi. It is gorgeous.

We travel through Murrurundi fairly regularly but only seem to stop for lunch. This time we stayed the night. In the afternoon before checking into our Motel we picked up a brochure on the local shops which had been put together by the shop owners. The next morning we worked our way along the streets stopping at all the shops listed. It was a very enjoyable few hours which was topped off by a great lunch at Nelliebellies.
