Bustling historical township with friendly people and charming architecture. Plenty of eateries, close to Launceston. Some lovely shops and very peaceful most of the time. This weekend the town was a buzz with hundreds visiting the Open Gardens festival, like myself

The streets were easy to get around. The shopping was varied. There were plenty of cafes and the iga and hill street grocery were friendly and great to get food from. I ate at. Sticky beaks just across the road.i loved the closeness to other towns. The people were very friendly.

It is often nice whilst being a tourist to have comfortable chairs or 2 seater lounge for seating. I realise size of the room dictates putting in arm chairs. For this reasin I would never book a motel room.

I am a huge fan of historic Australian motor racing.
I am a huge fan of historic Australian motor racing. I chose to spend a night here to see remaining parts of the historical Longford circuit and the Country Club Hotel bar that once stood on the track.
Sadly, the iconic parts of the circuit like the bridges and arched brick bridge are either gone or no longer accessible. Without local knowledge I could not even properly spot the Flying Mile on present roads.
Longford's place in racing history has been over-taken by nearby Symmons Plains raceway

A lovely historic town with plenty to see and do close by.
A lovely historic town with plenty to see and do close by. Very close to the Launceston airport as well (though you would never know). Great access to Launceston and all areas of Tasmania including the main highways south and west.
We stayed at Brickenden on recommendation from other family. We were visiting elderly relatives in Longford for a few days. The Cottage was absolutely delightful. Quiet and secluded with gorgeous views. The inside was so cosy and warm with electric heating plus an open fire for ambience. Perfect size for two adults. The renovations were so well done you would think the cottage stepped out of last century as it was. The garden is especially well done with lots of old world plants rambling about.
It was very charming, unique and you felt like you had stepped back in time. We were greeted by the resident chicken Tuk Tuk and of course, the manager. The friendly manager brought us farm fresh eggs and an ample supply of breakfast food for our stay. The Coachman’s Cottage was in excellent shape for being almost 200 years old. It was the perfect, quiet and lovely stay for our last night in Tassie. Would have liked to stay longer to explore the area.
A wonderful peaceful rural stay. Step back in time. Clean and comfortable but rustic. This is an experience not a chain hotel room. It was lovely to meet the owners and to learn about the history with a visit to the farm. Tip- Take a torch it’s very dark at night with no street lighting. Also no wi fi so prepare to disconnect from the world for a while.
Our hosts Annabelle and Richard were most welcoming and the accommodation was a treat - spotlessly clean and cosy. Lovely to enjoy the open fire and the thoughtful goodies placed in our room. Our breakfasts were delicious. Longford is a good base for enjoying the many places to visit in the area. We look forward to returning!
The very warm welcome at reception in the heritage village. The heritage cottage, surrounds and cottage garden were beautiful with a lot of effort to restore the cottage. Wonderfully private and peaceful looking out on the fields. The fresh eggs for breakfast delicious. Absolute bonus to walk in the heritage garden and village.
Beautiful location complete with cottage garden and chooks. Amazingly comfortable room with washing machine and dryer. Everything was very trendy with lots of exceptional little touches like a cheese, crackers and fruit platter in the fridge. Delicious breakfast with home-produced goods. Margaret is the perfect hostess!
Good size room with kettle toaster microwave tea coffee milk. Spacious bathroom with great towels. Publican Jeremy was so helpful. It was a public holiday and no were to eat. I bought some chips to tide me over and he comes back to my room and found some noodles for me. Absolute champion. Recommend you stay.
Aggie was exceptionally welcoming, the area tidy, rooms where comfortable and nice, overall a magical and peaceful place to stay, close to everything, shop bakery ect. We only wished we could stay longer. If i longford give Aggie a visit or better still come and stay.
Breakfast/Meals not available. Excellent Bakery (J & J's) down St in Longford. Other eating venues also available in the town. Note: All food outlets except for J & J's closed on Mondays.
Bed very comfortable & clean as were Room bathroom/Toilet facilities.
Lovely historic cottage, peaceful surrounds, toasty warm wood fire, comfortable beds, fresh farm eggs for breakfast. A great place to spend the night and the kids loved feeding the animals on the farm tour.
The cottage is a restored pre 1900's style building set in a rural sheep farm setting and has the midst of an amazing cottage garden. It was cosey with an open fire place. Quiet and peaceful.
THE HOTEL FACILITIES WERE GREAT AND A FRIENDLY STAFF HELPED ME BOOK FOR A TAXI TO GET ME TO THE AIRPORT
BEAUTIFUL ENVIROMENT AND PLEASANT AREA TO SPEND A NIGHT/ WEEK. THAKS
We stayed in the cabin, it was very clean and look like staying on a hotel room. Everything was spotless and smells nice. This is our second stay and will come back again.
